I was told a long time ago that aluminum oxide, which inhibits welding, starts to form in mere minutes on a fresh surface. As a result, always freshly scuff any weld penetration surface shortly before welding unless you have a flux that will do the job. I don't do aluminum welding, just what I was taught result the material.
Damn nice redesign, CHRIS!👍👍 Right there with you with inconsistencies in my aluminum Tig, after a hiatus. I do rely on my spool gun off my Miller 210. When I need to be schooled, I go to the; “Godfather” Jody Collier. Like having Encyclopedia Brittanica at your finger tips when it comes to aluminum Tig. Very thankful for that man’s tutelage. 🙏 Your build turned out GREAT!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
*technically* by increasing the distance between the vertical supports the horizontal beam can now support less weight before permanent deflection. But it's probably pretty minor
Yeah, sure, but it is VERY minor and if he hauls pipe/ tube/ stick lumber he’s likely to do it to one side, and if he hauls sheet goods it will obviously be well distributed.

New to your channel and I’m hooked really enjoy your work and explanation of how things are done looking forward to what you bring next, cheers Phil🇦🇺
Excellent work that's better
Thank you God bless 🇺🇲🇬🇧
Did you try swapping sides so the angle out?
The top bar isn’t wide enough to use the stock risers facing the other way, with the new 5 degree ones I made I’ve only got about 1” on either side
Nice video and project. Mahalo for sharing! : )

Great problem solving, Chris👊 I always look at mass produced products as the base from which I will work to customize to fit my specific needs.
All that gear and welds like that. Blows my mind.
Argon gas when welding aluminum.Too much stick out and too small a gas cup.
The included mea culpa wasn’t good enough for you?
