    Saw this last night and loved it. What a great show. During the standing ovation, the actress playing Lucy wouldnt crack a smile and looked ecstatic to leave the stage. Only thing that marred my enjoyment of it, as the rest of the cast were all so happy that the audience had loved it so much.

    It's a shame they focused more on the dark scenes than the actual scenes involving Aslan winning over death, which is meant to be the main point.
    Also, when the evil wolf turned up with a Batman mask and parkour stilts, I had to get a drink 😂

    I watched this and I have to say I was dissapointed. If you've got the time and spare funds - sure, entertain yourself: there is certainly a magical moment, however I think what was missing for me was the stage setting - there is none, it felt very vague and ungrounded; not like a story was being told.
    The writing also leaves certain points unexplained that if didn't know the story I'd have to make assumptions to fill in the blanks.
    Also, the animal costumes are not very immersive at all - including the most important of them all: Aslan. The rest of them just looked like plumbers with Russian hats on.
    Maybe my expectations were too high since I watched the movie growing up, but I've been to other musicals with film adaptations and I've never left feeling dissapointed.

      I felt completely the opposite regarding staging, I thought it was magical. I loved how the musicians were incorporated into the characters. The costumes were kind of 1940s animal steam punk. So clever! The puppetry was spectacular. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it. It is so interesting how different people can have such different experiences from the same show

  • @bowietsang920
    @bowietsang920 Год назад +1

    Watched it yesterday and it wasn't worth it. The acting of the some characters is good and the stage design was stunning. Visually they got a lot of things right except the ugly lion. The wolf design was chilling and cool and transitions were all planned out well. The music however was disappointing. Lyrics was meh and the score was not impressive. The story is paced poorly and conclusion was abrupt and drew a WTF reaction from the crowd. The lines were cheesy and the characters were shallow. I really wish I would like it but after seeing so many good shows in London this one was a massive letdown.

      @@miluskab4390 Hamilton and Harry Potters are both worth making a detour, Agatha Christie's shows are not on broadway yet AFAIK, and the other classics are all well-produced. It is usually the newer shows/niche shows that haven't stood the test of time(yet) that you really need to read the reviews on.

    It could more accurately be called "The Lion KING, the Witch, and the Wardrobe."
    One factor that would bother me slightly - the musical style combines Celtic folk music and African pop, and is thus wildly anachronistic for the period in which it's set. The closest thing at the time would have been early jazz, which sounds very different.

    • @RB-747
      @RB-747 2 года назад +16

      Yes, except it's actually set in a fictional fairytale land for pretty much the entire story isn't it?

      Celtic folk mixed with African pop sounds pretty good. Gets the fairytale vibes with the powerful nature of Aslan.
