Sounds wonderful. Love the tour pics
Good one, Erik! Gotta love the Balblair...
Great video! Thanks for sharing your travels with us.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing review Erik! Love how much info you give. I loved the bottle of 1999 that I bought....although I have found that Balblair more then any other distillery needs to be decanted several times and then it becomes amazing!
Oh wow. Thank you so much for sharing this. It is packed with so much good info. Again thank you for sharing. Cheers, -J.O.
Hi
Balblair was in the top 4 out of all 20 or just northern?plz give the top 12 list rank wise
Balblair was my top 4 out of the 10 I visited in northern Scotland (Highlands/Speyside), Because Islay whisky is generally is peated and is such a unique place I can't compare it to any other part of Scotland. My favorites that I visited for northern Scotland (Highlands/Speyside) are: (1) The Macallan (2) Glengoyne (3) Glenfarclas (4) Balblair (5) Glenfiddich (6) Glenmorangie (7) Dornach (8) Dalwhinnie (9) Cardhu (10) Cragganmore
Thanks for the video. Though, not certain why you would say that their potstill would produce a vodka like distillate?? Coffey stills are totally different than a pot still. Where the Coffey still strips the hell out of the distillate and a pot still leaves much of the original flavors through to the end. Where as...with a coffey still you wouldn't get any of those tasting notes that you so accurately describe. Maybe it was just a mistake in your script??
At 1:52 I talk about the importance of the shape of the still providing reflux. Without reflux more spirit immediately goes to the spirit still with less flavor, thus more coffey still-like. I did not say it would be the same as a coffey still. By the way, I don't make this stuff up. Read here: www.whisky.com/whisky-database/distilleries/details/balblair.html
