I'm watching this with tears in my eyes... Those were the years when I started mountainbiking, watching World Cup for hours, working at bike shops, shredding local trails on my heavy bike. Nearly 30 years later, I'm still doing it - because of guys like him giving me inspiration. Thank you!

Such an amazing video Rob! e-bikes have changed my life as well. I had some medical things come up over the last couple of years, and with that aging and gaining weight. I just couldn't keep up with my friends. The people that I cemented years long friendships. I started hating long rides, and anything with a bunch of elevation gain. I started avoiding joining group rides as I knew I'd be making everyone wait at the top.
Then, while I was waiting on a surgery that I knew was going to keep me off my bike for 8 weeks, my buddies and I went on a bike trip to Cumberland, and they chipped in on an e-bike for me for the day. I had zero expectations when I threw my leg over it, and I fully expected it to be a terrible experience once the climb was over. Boy, was I ever wrong! I had the best ride of my life! While I was healing from the surgery, I started planning on buying an e-bike. The best decision I've made. I love riding again!!

First time I've ever seen Rob was on EMBN and then he started his own channel, I was hooked. He's reinvented himself several times and persevered through the good times and the bad. Think he can connect with a wide variety of people and has one of those personalities draws people in. In truly look forward to new content and enjoy the different things he brings to RUclips and all of us.

Fantastic story . I fell out of love with MTB too it just became too much of a struggle , ebike has changed my life again ♥️.
I think the UCI selling broadcasting rights to Discovery could drive DH into the abyss again , not everyone has access to Discovery, whereas anyone with internet around the world can watch it streamed live for free on Redbull. I hope I'm wrong though.

I'm with you Rob, I started in 2000 and took my lad, as I got older (I'm now nearly 64) As my fitness buggered off, I felt it was a grind.
I couldn't keep up with the youngsters anymore, I started to fall away from it. But then 2.5 years ago I got my YT Decoy, fcuk me, I'm addicted once more, I don't give 2 fucks what other bikers say, who likes grinding uphill? That's right, Roadies!
Love your commentary on my favourite sport of downhilling, there's nothing like it, it's a crime all the coverage roadies get on T.V.

    I concur.
We all have our hills to climb.
I was ,as any kid with a bike, embraced freedom. Late 60's was my time. That's all I wanted to do, and explore.
Newspapers routes, Rides to Reservoirs, ride to the big cities and a lake I liked to fish.
Then came Clunkers and the advent of OffRoad bikes. Bingo, I'm on it! Places I could only point at now was only a matter of desire. And was always thirsty for the Explore. SF boy, road Mt. Tamalpais in the days of the greats! I've met them all.
Now Lake Tahoe. Here comes the Sun.
I found a new Me! No matter where I went, it was never a bad day! Few Mtb riders then in the Mid 80s.
But us few raged on creating dreams and lines. Alot of those old dreams are ridable now., and more so..
FS, Yow! Next chapter..in short, game changer. Worked in a Sports shop and road the best Big Red S bikes.
And many other privateers. Those were amazing Daze.
Boom, I moved and was a Dad. Life in the saddle mostly stopped. I dreamed constantly of Tahoe and to ride again.
But my sons now are a reflection of me. Born to the saddle.
Next chapter, I'm back in Tahoe area. 11 yrs lost. How much faster and harder can I ride? It took alot of time.
I'm now 59. But the dream kept my Soul Alive.
Never give up on your dreams for there are only 3 things in life worth living.
Health, Your Prodigy and Your Dreams.
Money can wait. If I die poor, never can I look back and say "I Wish". That's the last thing any human should say on thier diying bed.
And my bed will be in a saddle, over a cliff if I can make it! Yippie! Biggest Air Ever..💪

We must be a similar age but I don’t have half your talent on a bike. I remember your kaprun in 1996 like it was yesterday and nobody cheered harder than me I was so happy you won, I wanted Hope C2’s after that lol you cost me a fortune!
I never knew about the negative things you had with the sport but the pressure you must have been under must have been stressful, I only ride for pleasure but if it was for a living it’s easy to imagine hating it for a while. I’m properly buzzing that you’ve reconnected with the riding side of it and you didn’t need commentary training, all the world thought your commentary on Peaty’s World Cup win was class, another hoarse voice moment of joy for all the world and it wouldn’t have been the same without you.
Thanks for everything you did and still do.
I’m attached to the old shxt because of you, JMC, Peaty and that French lad that won everything and still ride an old 90’s bike up at Sutton bank as often as I can. Thanks Rob, what an honest video and a legend you are. It was emotional watching that. Great work 👍👍👍

Great film, really captures the emotions of the history of the sport, and also somewhat my journey with it. I have only finished last in the few local xc races I entered and cannot compare to any athlete let alone the likes of Rob. I remember shouting abusive encourage with Rob "Caveman" Warner at the Malvern's festival downhill race many decades back, with his crazy hair. I also hating riding up hills from first time of riding on my local hills in the early 90s with a passion. After getting an eBike back last summer for my 50th birthday, I am now loving riding more than I ever have, I am loosing weight and having so many laughs with mates. All those things that I had really missed after being away from riding for years whilst raising kids and doing up our family home. Now being back in the country side, having adventures but at the same time challenging our minds trying to keep the bikes tyre side down. I couldn't recommend an eBike enough, worth what seems to be every over price penny but the technology advancements today compared to a few years back you can really see the R&D investment these companies have put in to the latest bikes when you ride them for a period of time.
