Nate C11 I agree maybe try to tuck any lower front fascia stuff up as much as possible so the skid plate actually ramps up the front of the vehicle instead of just jutting straight out like a splitter or something
That roll cage look sweet as Chris. Eric is a wizard with a welder. That vette black with a clear coated roll cage will look fantastic. It just looks so mad max it’s unreal. Can’t wait to see how it looks and goes on the gambler. One of your best ever builds. B is for Badass.
I am 100% in favor of doing something creative with the popups! You'd be one of the first people to not only keep them during a custom build, but to relocate them. Easy enough to do too.
I think it would be cool to see some sheet metal work. Maybe something to cover and protect the engine? Or a removable roof for protection from the elements?
I had ordered the same tractor flappers for my baja bug exhaust but ended up cutting the clamp band off and welding them directly to the exhaust tube before doing a spray on exhaust coating to make everything match. Turned out really clean. Good work guys looks sick!
Hands down this is one of the best episode, with Eric's help you got so much more done. Super happy to see how much your channel has grown, keep it up!
I’d love to see the vette get fenders like the Ariel Nomad where the fronts attach to the steering knuckle and turn with the wheels, and the rear are fixed to the body.
I'm assuming the cage isn't finished yet? Cause there's like zero triangulation in it which is where the strength of a roll cage comes from. Take a look on pirate4x4, lots of really well designed cages on there.
The no endplate thing doesnt worry me too much because they're welding right to the frame. Not to sheet metal. However if it winds up on its roof, the whole thing is going to fold backwards. If the rear bars were straight pieces down to the frame it would have helped, but the bend makes them a fold point. The main hoop being at such an angle needs straight kickers somewhere. I hope they put a cross brace between the back bars too before they chop the rear section off. Hopefully they'll do more.
You should definitely make some sheet metal mud guards or fender for the front. Those tyres are going to be kicking up rocks and mud like crazy. Also put a sway bar across the top of the front exo. The thing is looking so rad I love it.
This Vette is soooo good! Just one question... dont you need to plate the chassis to weld the tubes ends? Wont the bars perforate the framerails in case of accident?
Agree - a simple check of any motorsport cage building rule book would have made this far more functional. The ones on the sils will surely just punch through if the car goes upside down. The very angled main hoop also not great.
God I wished I still lived in Portland so I could offer to come over, for free, and vacuum out the kart...those leaves and stuff in the window cowl are driving me crazy lol. Love seeing where the cart is going...can't wait to see it done.
You might wanna find a way to tie in the windshield. It doesn’t have any support pushing it forward. When the wind hits it, it may move. When I did this we ran into that problem.
It would be really cool (and practical) if the Vette gets sort of a tray between the rear roll bar bars and the exhaust where one or two spare tires sit (upright) waiting to be needed.
Okay I have to say that I liked the build up to this point. I was like "yeah okay, I get the idea of a stripped offroad car design". But the exoskelett today.. dude.. that nailed it.. That just looks so fucking sick. I am totally into that and would love to build something like that too haha. Keep it up man and I am glad that you feel better. Also really like to see Eric doing some stuff on the channel. You guys including Adrian and Chelsea are a great team. PEACEEEE!
Man that turned out awesome. Definitely think the cage should get a bright, ridiculous color of paint. It'd be a shame if it rusted like Roadkill's Vette Cart. :P
This may be a dumb idea but it could make the thing sound pretty cool. An H pipe between the exhaust but put a glasspack resonator between them. It should even out the rumble and give it a little lower note.
Be careful on your test drive on the roads around PDX. WSP & OSP have been known to ticket tires that are outside of the body and not covered by mudflaps and you have both!
L O V E the exhaust, looks so awesome & reminds me of Optimus Prime's exhaust behind him when in not form(yeah....fanboy, lol, but who wouldn't be). Cheers, A
Eric seems like a cool, down-to-earth guy. Keep him on the channel
I think Eric has a full time job, but having another person with his experience will really help the channel.
I think Chris hires Eric part-time
You should do a big skid plate under the front kinda like a baja truck and some sort of control arm guard :)
Nate C11 I agree maybe try to tuck any lower front fascia stuff up as much as possible so the skid plate actually ramps up the front of the vehicle instead of just jutting straight out like a splitter or something
He should cut the rear frame at an angle for a supposed better departure angle
I think they're planning on it already.
Nate C11 good ideas
That roll cage look sweet as Chris. Eric is a wizard with a welder. That vette black with a clear coated roll cage will look fantastic. It just looks so mad max it’s unreal. Can’t wait to see how it looks and goes on the gambler. One of your best ever builds. B is for Badass.
Maybe black reflective paint on the exo-skelton? Pictures with a flash only shows the skelton!
Can you please please mount the pop-up headlights on top of the rollbar as your flood lights??? That would be soooo baller!
that is a dope idea
Weld another bar across the front of the cage and mount them there either
I am 100% in favor of doing something creative with the popups! You'd be one of the first people to not only keep them during a custom build, but to relocate them. Easy enough to do too.
B is for Bad Aerodynamics
i see you saw cletuss vid :p
Watching cleetus is a must as well
legendarygaming yup haha. At least Chris won’t be hitting 170mph in this one
you watch cleetus's video from the other day when he went to a wind tunnel with his vette cart , it was soo soo bad aero
Shino San yup, that’s what I was referring to lol
Please put some giant googly eyes above those exhaust flappers. They look like muppets.
This is the most important modification by far
Must-do.
paint the bolts white the opening yellow and the counterweight on the back red and it will look like a chicken :P
Eric does a great job, keep buying him beer!!
I think it would be cool to see some sheet metal work. Maybe something to cover and protect the engine? Or a removable roof for protection from the elements?
Michael Graper canvas sheet with doors on would look decent like the old jeeps used to have
Its looking amazing so far! Can't wait to see it in some dunes
Eric has a very natural b is for build vibe! Id be happy to have him in how ever many episode you like + extra videos is dope
I had ordered the same tractor flappers for my baja bug exhaust but ended up cutting the clamp band off and welding them directly to the exhaust tube before doing a spray on exhaust coating to make everything match. Turned out really clean. Good work guys looks sick!
I dont say this lightly or often come to that... but this build is truly awesome. Well done both of you it looks amazing.
Lerroy the savage V2 offroad ;)
hixer275 Asilas the cars name is Jenkins. And Leroy is Leroy. Two of the wildest Corvettes I've see with the wildest name
Richard Campbell no one mention who did this first....
@@senorchubby Leroy Jenkins guess that rip off of a name flew right over your head bud
That really transformed the look. Epic build, can't wait to see finished product
A front bash bar like what Adam LZ has on his Z would be dope!
2:38 damn Eric is that a burn on your hand man? Look like it might have hurt. Heal up guys!!! And best of luck on the gambler!!!
Eric is an amazing addition to this channel. Hopefully he can stay on more builds in the future. Great work guys!
omg this cage is looking mad. I love it!
you've got to meet up with cleetus after the gambler dude! Some shots with leroy and jenkins side by side would be so awesome!!
Slarkim yaaaaas...bald eagles
Side by side burnies
You need to build a carport for that house...or turn the house into another workshop...awesome build btw...Eric is doing a good job
This looks great, you gotta make sure to paint that cage, and a front skid plate would be killer. Can't wait to see this thing with a bit of a lift
Hands down this is one of the best episode, with Eric's help you got so much more done. Super happy to see how much your channel has grown, keep it up!
Oh man! Looks so sick with the roll cage! You dudes should definitely hold onto this after the gambler.
The cage looks dope! Put a turret on the back and you got a mini Warthog from Halo
I’d love to see the vette get fenders like the Ariel Nomad where the fronts attach to the steering knuckle and turn with the wheels, and the rear are fixed to the body.
Weld up a bar going across the bottom of the windshield.
This thing looks GREAT! Can't wait to see it in action!
Definitely needs more lights/roof lights. It would also be handy to have a tray/bed in the back.
Great call in getting Eric involved. Stuff certainly gets done with two of you about and it's a useful "insurance" policy if you are out of action.
What is up from Minneapolis Minnesota? This Vet project is the coolest thing on Utube right now, Peace
My guy. You guys have to brace the two front bars going to the front frame rails. They are very weak.
I'm assuming the cage isn't finished yet? Cause there's like zero triangulation in it which is where the strength of a roll cage comes from. Take a look on pirate4x4, lots of really well designed cages on there.
There's multiple things wrong with this cage already, no foot plates, crossbrace isn't between the main hoop tubes, and so on... Slightly scary to see
Bjørn H. I figure it's not done since they don't have a beam running across the lower windshield, with braces going up to the halo
no triangulation in the halo, doesn't hit nodes through the cage, no cross bar tieing across in front of the windshield...
I guess that they just showed the general shape of the cage for us to see... except for the end plates. That was clearly a miss.
Favorite build on RUclips currently 👌
This Vette is soooo good! Just one question... dont you need to plate the chassis to weld the tubes ends? Wont the bars perforate the framerails in case of accident?
They definitely should have plated the tube ends.
Agree - a simple check of any motorsport cage building rule book would have made this far more functional. The ones on the sils will surely just punch through if the car goes upside down. The very angled main hoop also not great.
Easily the best build of the channel. Been watching since the first evora episode.
This thing is sweet! Love the flaps on the exhaust too!
Careful Chris, I think Eric might be gunning for your job! Lol, but seriously, love seeing him in your episodes. The guy's very talented.
So freaking cool. Glad you are feeling better Chris!
Every carguy needs an Eric ! Nice job ! No worries Chris you 2 😁keep it up guys 👍💪👊
That windshield will never be replaced again, lol. All jokes aside, I really dig the build.
Most exciting build so far ! Looks so good.
God I wished I still lived in Portland so I could offer to come over, for free, and vacuum out the kart...those leaves and stuff in the window cowl are driving me crazy lol. Love seeing where the cart is going...can't wait to see it done.
Looks like a 300 hp front engine sand rail!!!! Looks like fun
Having Eric around is definitely helping to improve the overall quality of the build.
My favorite build so far, Eric does good work.👍
I always like the videos before i watch them... Hope you get better, that exo-cage looks awesome!
Damn that thing looks mean with the cage. Make a bar in the front to mount some lights and a big led bar on top.
I'm saying the only thing missing is the giant 10ft CB radio antenna right off the roll cage center between the driver and passenger.
I love hearing from Eric, adds a cool mix up
Eric needs to be in more videos! I'd be sad to see if he and his puppy disappear from the channel once the Vett is finished
Kidney Stones ain't no joke. Glad you're feeling better
You might wanna find a way to tie in the windshield. It doesn’t have any support pushing it forward. When the wind hits it, it may move. When I did this we ran into that problem.
this car started as a convertable. its designed to not need any support
Shit you’re right. I completely forgot about that. Disregard
uhh it was a convertible.. it’ll be fine
This has been good practice for the 240 build- gives me some more confidence you will get the frame done OK
Thumbs up for Eric! Seems a superb man
It would be really cool (and practical) if the Vette gets sort of a tray between the rear roll bar bars and the exhaust where one or two spare tires sit (upright) waiting to be needed.
Glad you are feeling better! Rest up
Man Eric is good at metal work. First rate m8
looking like a go cart from hill billy hell but in a good way !
That thing looks badass! Good job on the cage guys.
Genuinely one of my favs ever.
roll cage looks cool man
Super happy with the progress and that you’re feeling better man !
Looking at the roll cage, how would you feel about putting an additional bar across the very bottom of the windshield cowl?
Just run the vette in the gambler, that thing is sweet, the tractor flaps put it over the top
What pipe bender do you guys use?
Would love to know the tools you guys used. Keep the great content coming, this build is gonna be awesome
Looks like the Speedway Bender. www.speedwaymotors.com/3rd-Gen-Hydraulic-Round-Tubing-Bender-and-1-Die-Set,6614.html
Chris PLEASE put a custom truck bed or some kind of cargo hold in the back
This thing just got so much cooler!
Keep it coming guy's. Looks wicked!
Big shout out to Eric! this build is really coming together well!!
Winch, Skid plates, and light bar needed.
man this vette kart is lookin great, its even better than the one roadkill did.
B is for Bukake
I think a spare tire on the roof or angled on the back would look badass.
PEACEEEE!
Would be so good if you could get the vette kart and Leroy side by side
B is for brothers
you should add a thin metal plate to the top to act as a roof
This thing is looking sweet! Looks a lot like Cleetus McFarland’s Leroy, but it looks so good
Will it have a light bar?
You should take this to hoonigan and send it in the yard.
You guys should put some bars at the front it would look bad 👍
that cage looks awesome, nice work eric
Giant LED light bar to the halo hoo-p front !
We need massive flames coming out that exhaust
3:33 dang sneaky cats
This better meet Leroy for some epic pictures when its done
Best Build thus far. Cheers!
Glad your feeling better
Also you should add more cross bracing to the halo bar, main hoop, and the rear. You should also do crossbars at the doors
awesome that you guys did that so quickly
A badass looking machine. Damn
Man that turned out awesome. Definitely think the cage should get a bright, ridiculous color of paint. It'd be a shame if it rusted like Roadkill's Vette Cart. :P
love your videos man. you are an inspiration to all do it yourselfers. keep up the good work
PLEASE do a big ass wing!! you will DEFINITELY win RC car with that!!! Please!!
That exhaust rattle would drive me absolutely nuts.
This may be a dumb idea but it could make the thing sound pretty cool. An H pipe between the exhaust but put a glasspack resonator between them. It should even out the rumble and give it a little lower note.
This thing looks so freaking awsome!
Be careful on your test drive on the roads around PDX. WSP & OSP have been known to ticket tires that are outside of the body and not covered by mudflaps and you have both!
richsipe technically he has none 😂
L O V E the exhaust, looks so awesome & reminds me of Optimus Prime's exhaust behind him when in not form(yeah....fanboy, lol, but who wouldn't be).
Cheers, A
Top work dudes; looks awesome!! 🙌🏻
Really love this badass build!good job!
