Just make sure you're insurance company covers your rods, reels and tackle. I was told yes by my agent but when my rods were stolen and the claim placed it was denied stating that rods/reels are not part of the boat (attached) they are a carry on item.
I would add good dock lines , I like those dock lines with preformed loops, a neoprene float section in the middle and down the inner core of the nylon center section is a bungee cord to absorb the shock from wakes and currents. A 50’ -100’ of rope capable of towing another boat or to get towed with, jumper cables, and a small tool set, spray paint all of them blaze orange so you can find them and write the sizes in big writing with a sharpie. I have an anchor and I have a heavy mesh bag with a caribiner that I can put big rocks in to make a shore anchor and have my other anchor offshore if I breakdown and can get to shore so the hull doesn’t get destroyed by rocks. A couple dock bumpers,
I would grab some tips from the dealer on loading the boat on the trailer from the water. How far to back the trailer in before loading and if it is designed as a drive on or float on trailer. Some of those basscat trailers seem to have a sweet spot depth of bunks in the water for loading.
One thing I’d recommend, if you don’t like any of the factory stickers / decals, remove them when the boat is new! I changed my mercury decals to match my boat color, and it was a pain when they were 2 years old.
I don't think you mentioned a hand paddle when you were rattling off the coast guard requirements. I think one is required, at least it used to be. Great video and killer rig. Have a great season!
Practice backing up your new boat “trailer”. before you hit the boat ramp. I went from a single axle to a tandem axle trailer. A 17’ tracker to a 20’ Vexus. The trailer pulls, tracks, and backs completely different.
I would add to check the fittings under the console for any steering fluid leaks. This fluid in some boats are added after the delivery to the dealer and could need to be tightened.
Great inofrmation if anyone is getiing into boating great video and check out his other videos because he gives out great information that is good to know!!!!!! Thank you John
Picked up a brand new boat brought it home checked the prop and it wouldn’t spin, dealer didn’t put the prop on right had to take it back to dealer, good thing I checked before I got it to the water! Everyone should always do a walk around their boat before launching it!
Always gotta check whatever lake you're going to/states laws.. Great lakes requirements like someone said earlier are different than other places since they're like oceans lol. I don't own a boat but I do that when I'm just traveling in general. Got in a car accident years ago and the lady didnt have insurance... she tried to start her policy back up after the accident. Insurance people said they laughed when they saw when the insurance began 30 minutes after the accident... Random things I've heard, carry extra springs for hot foots, spare trolling motor cords, extra straps to strap. For all my fellow 90's babies, make sure your boating license is out of the way. I think you older folks are exempt 🤣
Great tips, do you scotchguard or treat the carpet in any way? I use 303 fabric guard and water beads off it. Have you ever done vids on night fishing?

Good suggestions! Thanks

You need a good Push Pole for shallow water or if you get grounded, since you're not to get out of your boat during a tournament.
Good catch !!
#11...load your boat with your favorite Missile baits. 🤭

Always a good idea to have one, and that little emergency paddle really needs to be bigger to be any good.
Yep! You don't want to get caught up $#!t Creek without one...
@@ShaneJMcNair I agree!!
Good one! Thanks
One thing I added in my cat on top of what you suggested, is a good first aid kit.
Great info John! Thanks!

Agreed
Spare prop with prop wrench. Small tool set. Fuel treatment. SPF 30. Insulated coveralls in case you have to get wet and get back in.

Dude you need a podcast
I want to see some more details on some more lures and some more soft plastic lures
👍🏼
Did you say in a different RUclips post that you can use a Lithium Pro starting battery with a Mercury outboard and not void the warranty ?

Randy Blaukat ain't got no hot foot! 🤣
Thank you for the reminder.
I do need to ceramic coat my boat and motor! 😉
Do you use the CMX ceramic coating on your boat as well or do you use a different wax?
That boat is sweet!! I saw it at the Raleigh Show Saturday!! WoW!!
I was there today. Awesome boat.
@@d3adp94 dang, sorry I missed ya

How do you do the ceramic wax?
Do you just spray it on the outboard and leave it or do you need to wipe it on?
Best to leave it an hour or so before removing then wait 24 hours before a second coat
Imma try that ceramic on the new Merc next week! 👊🏼
don’t forget to attach your kill switch to your vest while running!

I’ve never tried that! I might to do it. Thanks
Great show John. But dont wax the bottom ? Dont know about that one ! Everybody different
Thanks
Well said!
Make sure you have a good spare tire. My NEW boat didn’t even come with one.
What you talkin about Iggy morning cuz if you are disabled right you know anyway
you left out anchors.
It’s not required by law but a good suggestion
*Promosm* 😒
