    Jollof Rice, is not Senegalese, mixing blended sauces with rice, is not something any Nigerian went to Senegal to plagiarise and then spread across Nigeria. Senegalese wollof is made with couscous, sometimes with whole vegetables and meats cooked with the grain.
    Jollof could have easily been adopted by Ghanaians deported from Nigeria, during the 70/80s.
    Not knowing the origins of something, doesn't mean you must ascribe it to people, because they have a similar sounding name to the object.

      Herh! W'agyimi oo .
      Pls get an education, you're embarrassing Africans on this platform. 'Jollof' was the name of the kingdom of the Wolof. Some of their people were captured by the slave raiders in the Sahel at that time and sold to Africans who were trying to establish kingdoms in the southern forests of West Africa I.e The Akan kingdoms of present day Ghana. These enslaved people brought that style of cooking to southern west Africa... seriously 😒 get an education.

    I have watched a lot of jollof comparison videos and every time, Nigerian jollof wins since it has more flavor and spices. This is because of the different ways both are done. Nigerians cook both rice and stew separately before mixing them thereby retaining the flavor of the stew. While Ghanaians prepare the stew first before mixing with the uncooked rice then more water is added to cook the rice (with the diluted stew). That's why Ghanaian jollof always loses its flavor of stew.

    It would be nice to acknowledge jollof rice from the Gambia and Senegal, as the term jollof comes from the Wolof tribe who originate and habitats from these two countries.
    However, I have tasted both Nigerian and Ghanaian jollof and I agree with the argument that it depends on who prepares the dish.

    • @madelinejohn8169
      @madelinejohn8169 5 лет назад +2

      Jochebed Joseph I hear you, but that wasn't my point. My point was to acknowledge its herrtage. At least the inventor gets its recognition for its invention. However, in this case we only hear about the jollof from Nigeria and Ghana as the main fuss is about which one is better. And to cook jollof rice from the Gambia and Senegal ain't easy. Many people try to make it and fails, so I'm sorry for your experience. However it Dont mean that jollof rice from the Gambia ain't nice, cuz it's lovely. ✌🏾

    • @MKRex
      @MKRex 5 лет назад +2

      Wrong
      No Gambian or Senegalese is claiming Nigerian jollof rice.
