January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and Jeannie Mai shares why raising awareness about this epidemic is so important to her. For more information, please visit stoppingtraffic....
Be aware when you go to nail salons, get your eyebrows threaded, get your legs waxed, go to restaurants. Some people are working as slaves there. The way it works is that someone goes to an impoverished family in India, China. Vietnam etc. and tells the family that their daughter or niece can earn money for their family abroad. They advance the family money, and they pay for the daughter/neice's plane ticket to America /Canada. Once they get here, they owe all the money that was advanced to the family plus their travel expenses and they have to work it off, but of course their earnings are very low compared to what the trafficker charges customers for their work. So of course they can't pay it off, and their family may keep getting money from the trafficker so they are eternally in debt, working for a few dollars a day. The traffickers hold power over them by keeping their documents, they don't speak English well so they don't know the laws of the US/Canada and know they have rights, they are afraid of immigration, they are afraid to leave because the traffickers threaten their family back home. The best thing you can do is strike up a conversation with people who are in precarious situations and gain their trust and let them know they can talk to you.
I've always respected Jeannie, but my respect just grew about 10000% more. She always seems so open minded, humble, and herself. Yea she may be much to some, but she is honestly amazing 😭
I'm surprised that people are so unaware of human trafficking as adults but I'm glad jeannie is open enough to admit it and then actively make a difference
Human Trafficking is a big problem in Vietnam, in Asia and all over the world too. I'm so proud of Jeannie for speaking up about this subject on the show! VIETNAM LOVE YOU JEANNIE!
BTaylor TV Mothers go through a lot of course i know that. i didn't say "Fathers too" bc of that. I was agreeing with her. You're taking his out of proportion. RELAX! Parents in general should be celebrated
I love this segment. Jeannie truly seems like a wonderful person. I really do think Jeannie has a true relationship with the Lord. Tamar was really hindering Jeannie from expressing herself on the show by saying that shes Christian but then putting down Jeannie in sneaky ways, thats not Christian-like. Tamar honestly used to be my favorite and then Tamera but now I love Jeannie. She is so open and honest about everything she is the realest co-host. Im so happy about this segment and I hope they do more intellectual segments like this. I love the fun girl chats, but the show needs a balance.
Jeannie is the best host on there. Always announces things with excitement, always has interesting stories to tell, always has a good message to share, has an iconic mom, etc. ❤❤❤
Naima Thompson very true. I loved Tamar on her own, but she was incredibly toxic towards Jeannie and it made things uncomfortable for even the viewers. straight up bully.
Great job Jeannie! So proud of you for going back home to Vietnam & giving the women there hope in their darkness. And Donna, I have no words. Thank you both for doing all that you do to help girls write a better story about their lives.
This is so heartbreaking to hear but I'm thankful that these issues are getting more awareness. I can't wait till horrible crimes like this are a thing of the past. Revelation 21:3,4
To be honest...ever since Jeanie first talked about her work against human trafficking a couple months ago, it inspired me to do the same. So many people are trafficked throughout the world and that makes me so sad just imagining the things they go through. I'm still in University but I definitely wanna get involved and help with this cause. Places like South America and Asia, I'd love to go and work to bring back families together.
I am really proud of Jeannie because once she learns, she doesn't allow herself to be naieve about it and she takes action. and this is not a glamorous cause to be fighting for so I really appreciate Jeannie's heart. Stay blessed girl xoxo
This woman is amaizing. from what she did for her children to sharing her story and raises awareness for human trafficking. ❤ God bless her and Jeani 😘
Jeannie is just so sweet. & I love how there was a lot of disagreement between her & the lady in the yellow but when she was tearing up, the lady held her hand. Just shows how mature women can come together to support each other
Gabrielle Haynes Exactly... and this show is about each persons point of view on different topics. Just goes to show that some people can disagree on some things but still be mature when it really counts.
This is really informative for people who feel like they can't do anything but guess what even if you feel like you can't , you can ! If you can't help personally you can do something simple as donate !
the ugliness of this world truly terrifies me ...my heart breaks for the victims that fall prey to the monsters that use them for their own benefit smh
That first shot of jeannie's clip where she says ''i am in vietnammm'' makes me emotional when looking at the background. Imagining the life jeannie would have had if her parents didnt drop everything and immigrate to the USA. Thats where she comes from.. those fields is where jeannie wouldve been walking. Makes me so happy to have her here... god only knows, she mightve been trafficked as well. It also makes me sad to remember that there are so many jeannies in vietnam that didnt escape poverty etc with a heart of gold like our very own jeannie mai. That also goes for other countries where the opportunies are just not there...
Wow Ms. Donna has been through so much. Looking at her now, I would have NEVER guessed that she had such a rough life. She is so gorgeous and resilient! Truly inspiring and heart breaking at the same time
Our mall in Springfield, Oregon used to be a horrible human/sex trafficking stop...We have fought hard against this and it has gotten better here but it makes me so sick knowing how prevalent this is and how people don't really know what's going on in their own back yard! Jeannie Mai thank you for shedding light on this💕
Jeannie is such a loving and true caring woman God bless you I would love to help in any way I can. Please keep allowing the Lord to use you Jeannie you are such a blessing.
I remember seeing Jeannie's Instagram posts last summer about this, and I've been waiting for her to talk about it on The Real. I'm so glad she and the other ladies are raising awareness about this. I really wish I could have watched the entire episode, but it didn't come on in my area due to the inauguration. I'm so glad the show uploaded these longer clips on here for us to see!
Thank you The Real for using your plateform to raise awareness. I saw what Jeannie did in Vietnam on Instagram and I was disappointed when she got back on the real and no one talked about it. Thank you very much.
now this is real...... almost too real... humans are humans worse enemy... Greed is gonna kill us.... desperation n being poor are most tragic of things to happen to a person.... heartbreaking... yet we are often so ungrateful
I watch this show always from the Netherlands. But the fist time I really feel you brought up a very very good subject! Keep up with this kind of subjects that really matter and educate people!
This is amazing!! It's so important that this is being talked about, props to The Real for bringing it up. We really need to educate people about human trafficking, not just in America but all over the world. I mean it's crazy to know that slavery is more prominent today than it has ever been in the world before. It's safe to say that changes definitely need to be made on a political, social and global level.
belia st nothing personal just that its something that bothers me more than other. and i have seen parents who would do something like that coz of poverty
I really appreciate they don't show the children's faces in the video. Sometimes it's chilling when I see a post of people showing a child's face while doing a "good deed" it's more humbling to me the way they have shown it on this segment
I am a victim of human trafficking. It started off Instagram when I was a newly out 12 year old and I had a man from Paris try to groom me. He said he was a model hiring agent and that I had what it took to be a supermodel. He sent some men to the United States to an airport where a taxi cab would pick me up but luckily I never got into the taxi cab because I would’ve been GONE. A year later a man (who would eventually become my pimp) off a similar app catfished me into believing he was my age (I was 13) and asked to meet up at the park. I did and I was assaulted by him. From there I was seasoned/groomed and sold to men (his gang) and it lasted until I was 16. My parents at the time thought I was just sneaking out being promiscuous because I had just came out. No one knew what was going on until I was raped one night by a JOHN and contracted HIV but hadn’t known it yet. Things were getting worse as my pimps were selling me to drug houses and taking me to trap houses. I was getting extremely skinny and my body was basically dying. I decided I had to run away from my pimps if I wanted to live. I ran away but was then taken by another man. I escaped ran to a hospital 🏥 and then turned myself in. From there I was sent to a mental hospital where I learned I was HIV positive at 15. Then I was sent to an all boys residential where I was sexual harassed. I tried to keep my boundaries because if they would have raped me, all I knew is that that would possibly get HIV and go to jail. So I feared for my life while in there. I was taken out after someone shoved a broom 🧹 up my 🍑. I am currently 18 this all happened 2 years ago and I’m much healthier and safe. All this saying that it happens to boys especially those of color AND who are gay! My case was never picked up because of the belief that males can’t be victims especially if you’re not white......female......foreign.....or straight. Which many victims aren’t a combination of those things. Traffickers are getting smarter and know it’s easier to prey on more “minoritized” groups. My goal is to one day be on the real or a similar talk show and become a spokesman for individuals of human trafficking who are ignored, not believed, and not given the same opportunities to thrive after victimization.
I just love Jeannie's spirit and she is such a strong soul. I just hope there were more people like her she's great and she's been through so much and she is still so beautiful and great. She's Always smiling. Jeannie your're the best i swear!
Atlanta is one the worst cities in ths US for sex trafficking. I was unaware until I was taught in a youth action group and we did a servicr project that went towards victims seeking rehabilitation. Ever since I have been extremely passionate about the topic as well. It's such an important issue that I wish garnered more attention.
they need to step it up and bring more real stories like this on here instead of fluff...like stuff the Tyra show did...bring in teen guests...there is SOOO much these ladies can do. I feel like this show is amazing but more can be done
Jeannie you are an angel and your heart is so pure! stay strong and keep being beautiful! i hope they add a segment to showcase the great comments that she gets on the social media platforms. Rather than highlighting the negatives ones on we read you!
maya anna I choose to listen to it and not comment on it and by saying AB Hair is like Kim K isn't attacking her gtfo but I get it, you're the type of person who likes to instigate and or provoke ppl to start something out of nothing. I see you troublemaker, why the misery baby girl why?
Molika Men-Thlang I'm the troublemaker? By wondering why you would talk about a hairstyle under a human trafficking awareness video? okay love, have a good, trouble free life xox
The one time I understand this is something you cry about and get emotional over it...... Loni or Adrienne aint cryin. And Loni cries a lot but when there is more of a reason to cry they never do and they looked uninterested. Not saying theyre emotionless or anything but I started to tear up and when they showed Loni and Adrienne I was like "Dang they aren't crying, this didn't strike them" it may have I don't know.
Jeanie has truly blossomed this season. I always knew she was an amazing individual but because of 'you know who' from the previous season, she was never able to completely evoke what an incredible person she is! She's a beautiful soul and so inspiring. LOVE YOU JEANIE.
pliz pliz we need help as well in Africa, too much human trafficking esp in my country uganda ,alot of young men and women are lied to that they are being taken abroad to get well paying jobs and out of desperation most of these innocent people are sold to arab countries, dubai, qatar, kuwaiti, oman, saudi Arabia were they are taken to work as modern day slaves, they get raped, tortured, starved, overworked, mistreated, discriminated and killed sometimes, their passports often get confiscated, they are kept indoors always !which makes escaping difficult as well, and while many have managed to escape and gave testimonials to the living hell they went thru alot of them are still there in silent torture with point of no return, our government banned our youth from going to arab countries but still they are trafficked thru the airports of neighbouring countries, what hurts most is that most of these people are young graduates who are desperately searching for jobs and therefore these tracfickers take advantage of their situation and feed them with convincing lies.sad, very sad.
Jeannie has one of the most beautiful soul out there ❤️
NS012 yes she's so authentic 🙏🏻

I know 😢
Samantha Pierre every time she cries I cry
Samantha Pierre every damn time 😢
I'm surprised that people are so unaware of human trafficking as adults but I'm glad jeannie is open enough to admit it and then actively make a difference
I'm not. Human trafficking is a huge problem that gets shoved under the rug. It does not get talked about enough in the media.
Human Trafficking is a big problem in Vietnam, in Asia and all over the world too. I'm so proud of Jeannie for speaking up about this subject on the show! VIETNAM LOVE YOU JEANNIE!
all over the world
I lived in asia for 12 years, and saw children for sale on back of a menu in Cambodia, and have witnessed lots of examples. Sad :(
Jeannie is AMAZING ❤️❣️. We need more people like her to help bring awareness because trafficking is disgusting and sad.
I love that on this season of the Real Jeanie has really blossomed so beautifully! She's free to be herself, a loving, giving, happy, crazy person :)
stephanie s i completely agree! i think tamar not being there is a big reason why
I know right? Thank goddess there's no pettiness and Muppetry standing in her way anymore. ❤❤❤
muppetry omg
inasexymood Sadly I agree with you. Jeannie was abit guarded when Tamar was here
Mothers should be celebrated daily.
Sola Oludare Fathers too
Samantha Pierre definitely!
Samantha Pierre no one said fathers didn't matter! My goodness. Mothers go through so much and the fact that you throw that in there smh
BTaylor TV Mothers go through a lot of course i know that. i didn't say "Fathers too" bc of that. I was agreeing with her. You're taking his out of proportion. RELAX! Parents in general should be celebrated
Good mother’s and fathers should be celebrated daily.

Naima Thompson don't praise one and bring one down. that also is not Christianity
Vera Nchezor hahahaha
Vera Nchezor she is rasing a true point. tamar's attitude towards Jennie was not Christian like. the world will know Jesus by your fruits/ behaviour

Jeannie has my heart. She's so honest and humble and open. More people need to be like her.
the things that go on around the world makes my heart ache..... 😩💔
India has one of the worst countries regarding trafficking and modern day slavery , its an epidemic.
This is so heartbreaking to hear but I'm thankful that these issues are getting more awareness. I can't wait till horrible crimes like this are a thing of the past. Revelation 21:3,4

Anisha Mc Kenzie She's black, Guess they feel we don't feel pain.
We are civilized people; human beings need to love one another, not to sell one another for degrading prostitution.
Our mall in Springfield, Oregon used to be a horrible human/sex trafficking stop...We have fought hard against this and it has gotten better here but it makes me so sick knowing how prevalent this is and how people don't really know what's going on in their own back yard! Lizzie Ann she actually did for one episode back in October but they didn't really go into depth until now

The amount of courage it must have taken her to share her story is amazing. God bless her, and Jeannie for bringing this topic to light.
Why isn't the government doing anney thing the government of these countries should be cracking down on human trafficking
Atlanta is one the worst cities in ths US for sex trafficking. I was unaware until I was taught in a youth action group and we did a servicr project that went towards victims seeking rehabilitation. they need to step it up and bring more real stories like this on here instead of fluff...like stuff the Tyra show did...bring in teen guests...there is SOOO much these ladies can do. I feel like this show is amazing but more can be done
Jeannie you are an angel and your heart is so pure! stay strong and keep being beautiful! i hope they add a segment to showcase the great comments that she gets on the social media platforms. Rather than highlighting the negatives ones on we read you!

Wow, that guest's story just had me shed a tear, how horrible and so happy overcame and is trying to help women behind her....
Jeanie God will bless for this and thank you for bringing awareness of this situation but please be careful while you are doing this
The one time I understand this is something you cry about and get emotional over it......
Jayla G Not everybody expresses their emotions the same. Maybe they were shocked.
D_love yes that's true
Jayla G I think they're in awe of Jeannie's experience and the guests experience as well!
I love you guys💚💚😭😩
Whew, tear jerker😢😢unbelievable
I saw her journey on her Snapchat and it broke my heart. 💔
In Cuba everything medical is free; if you wanna remove some tattoos from slave labor, brands, etc, they can help you there
Jeanie has truly blossomed this season. I always knew she was an amazing individual but because of 'you know who' from the previous season, she was never able to completely evoke what an incredible person she is! She's a beautiful soul and so inspiring. LOVE YOU JEANIE.
Jennie looks so 😍😍😍😍 and she is such a great person
pliz pliz we need help as well in Africa, too much human trafficking esp in my country uganda ,alot of young men and women are lied to that they are being taken abroad to get well paying jobs and out of desperation most of these innocent people are sold to arab countries, dubai, qatar, kuwaiti, oman, saudi Arabia were they are taken to work as modern day slaves, they get raped, tortured, starved, overworked, mistreated, discriminated and killed sometimes, their passports often get confiscated, they are kept indoors always !which makes escaping difficult as well, and while many have managed to escape and gave testimonials to the living hell they went thru alot of them are still there in silent torture with point of no return, our government banned our youth from going to arab countries but still they are trafficked thru the airports of neighbouring countries, what hurts most is that most of these people are young graduates who are desperately searching for jobs and therefore these tracfickers take advantage of their situation and feed them with convincing lies.sad, very sad.
I hope this paedophile ring/orignazation will get busted. It is disturbing & shouldn't even exist. God bless your hearts Jeannie & The Real.
Majority of those trafficked girls are my Hmong people so THANK YOU Jeannie!!
