I seriously don’t get the hate this ride gets....it’s a fantastic hyper that easily makes top 5 in my B&M hyper list. Pro tip, shoot straight for it when the park opens...got 12 re-rides in a row on a Saturday in October without having to renter the line.
I can tell you. On some days you don't get any airtime on this ride (maybe because of the wheels, trims, temperature, idk), and without airtime it's a pretty boring ride with few redeeming qualities.

Im with you, i don't see why this coaster gets so much hate, I love riding the back row of this coaster, the airtime is so graceful, not the strongest but pure fun and a some good tummy tickling hills. lol
I got to admit that Mako hills are designed to give ejector airtime where as Nitro hills were disigned to give floater airtime, will everyone look at the airtime hills of each coaster, Nitro he are more spread out as to mako hills goes up and arches straight back down. its all about what you like.
Majority of people I talk to say Kingda Ka and El Toro are the 1-2 punches of SFGA. But personally, I think it’s Nitro and El Toro. Two coasters that offer different ride experiences (toro being aggressive and nitro being somewhat relaxing) but with amazing airtime. I’m also not a fan of Kingda Ka so little biased. Not to mention, the last few years I’ve been to SFGA, Nitro’s dispatches are always fast even when running 3 trains.

Maybe some sort of Tesla coil to create electric elements for Raiden. Probably better as a Planet Coaster rendering since the MK IP isn’t what it use to be in the public eye.
A Mortal Kombat ride would fit in the Six Flags chain, since it's a licensed property of Warner Brothers. I'd ride it for sure! Oh god, I just thought of something: instead of a Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast clone, there should be one called "Mortal Kombat: Sub-Zero Cryo-Blast", and unlike Mr. Freeze, the train goes forward then backward. Then, just for good measure, once the train reaches the apex of the spike, a pair of speakers behind the train blast Scorpion screaming "GET OVER HERE!!!" as the train returns.

There are 2 trims after the first turn hill, and after the first normal hill (both at the valley between elements) along with the midcourse. Still much better than trimmed hills.

This ride is extremely underrated in my opinion. Every airtime hill gave awesome floater and the ending hills gave flojector™️. It is equivalent to Diamondback in my opinion.
Working on this ride and knowing the ins and outs of it has allowed my love for it to grow. It’s my favorite hyper alongside Candymonium. Good to see you reviewing it again and giving it a good overall score!
Thanks for reviewing Nitro. It's my favorite hyper for personal reasons -- it's at my home park, so it was the first hyper I rode, the first one I marathoned, and the one I've ridden the most. Personally, I like the blue/yellow color scheme, although it would be nice if they touched it up. And thanks for mentioning in the soundtrack! I think it's one of the best station soundtracks out there, and really does pump you up to ride.
This is an awesome review. SFGA is my home park and nitro was my first large scale ride as a kid when it opened and I loved it , still do. But I can imagine comparing to the newer hypers out there now this one definitely will lack in some areas like you mention. It’s just a solid fun ride that I always end up laughing on at the end which is why I love it so much. And that helix is a blast. This makes me want to get to other parks and experience the newer hypers.
This is and always will be my favorite ride because I got to experience it with my dad and grandma and my grandma is in a nursing home now and my dad passed away this year! I hope to get on it again one day for my daddy!
It's my 3rd favorite B&M hyper behind Candymonium & Mako, but only my 5th favorite ride in the park, since I'm not big on B&M hypers. Nitro gave me some good quality floater airtime throughout the ride when I was there in the warmth of summer 2019. I love how it goes off into the woods, away from the park.
This was my first & for a long time was my favorite hyper-coaster. It kept the title of my favorite until last year when I finally got to Magic Mountain and ride Goliath. I may have moved to the other side of the country, this making the last time I ride Nitro was 14 years ago, but still love it.
I rode Nitro once back in 2004, it was a very fun ride from all I recall. Highlight for me as someone who didn't know the layout in advance aside from "Hyper Coaster" is that dive left from the second hill. That caught me so off guard and threw me. I need to get back to New Jersey though to ride the rest of the park (El Toro, Kingda Ka, etc)
i just got a 26 ride marathon on nitro last night! it was sending it!!! still my fav b&m hyper, and i’ve ridden diamondback, intimidator and candymonium lmao
I always love hearing people's opinions on Nitro since it apparently gets a huge variety of reactions. It's at my home park and I really really like this ride. I 100% agree that the third hill (the hill after the hammerhead) is the best airtime hill on the ride. I also really love the drop off the mid-course brake run in the very back row thanks to the length of the trains. I hope they bring back the 9-row trains, just imagine Mako or Candy with these long trains!
The element I remember most about this ride is the drop after the mid course break run. If you're in the back you really get pulled down which is a surprising difference to many break runs after which it usually takes a bit to regain speed and have forceful elements.
I’d be intrigued to see you redo some of your earlier countdowns of different ride types e.g. your top B&M hypers, as you’ve ridden far more coasters now.
I rode this ride the first year 35 times in a row the first year at the park. After that many times thanks to me being a kind friendly person and being a single rider. Also the wonderful staff that day. So after that many times I would love if they reversed the trains. The ride is smooth and floaty it would be nice to have the elements come as a surprise.
I rode it yesterday in the back row and I was flying out of my seat! It was butter smooth too! I was very surprised! Only better ride at the park was El Toro.
I haven't ridden Nitro since 2016 but I actually enjoyed it a lot. At the time it was only my second ever B&M Hyper I've ridden (after Diamondback), so they were new experiences for me in general. Now that I've ridden a lot more B&M Hypers (and Gigas), I am curious to try out Nitro again. I am crossing my fingers for visiting in 2021.
One of my favorite rides. Being that you didn’t give it the greatest review makes me excited to eventually see new parks and hit better rides. And good to know I’m not the only one who greyed out at the halfway point. Sadly el toro and JDC are closed currently and when i went. But nitro bizarro and kingda ka picked up the slack. Last year we went to Lake Compounce and decided this would be the year of roller coasters... Bad timing I know. We got some early rides at our home park of six flags new england last winter, and did a trip to LA where we did two days of Magic Mountain during a week to LA. FF to Great Adventure this past September... Nitro is my first B&M hyper. I found the airtime hills settled into a fun but not overwhelming rhythm. The helix was very intense. But the surprise for me was the drop off the mid-course. We sat 7th row both times, and the drop hit so hard it was full on-ejector. I'm looking forward to more parks this spring as things open up and hopefully get some even better rides.
I've ridden Nitro three times. But the last time I did was way back in 2006. I was planning on going to check out Jersey Devil this year, and I probably would've gotten a couple rides on this. But then of course, we had the pandemic. -_-
I love this coaster. I’ve always said that they should theme this to a run down Gotham Power Plant operated by the DC villain Mister Nitro. The queue line would be fully enclosed with special effects and sounds and attached to the station telling the story of Mister Nitro. At the helix part, that could be transformed to part of the rundown facility with smoke and fire elements. On board audio on the trains as well.
I worked on Nitro for 2 days when I worked at SFGA (I was there as a transplant from a park that couldn't open this summer) I hated the soundtrack so much. Actually working on the ride was super fun, especially the little boy who was terrified to go on, asked me a ton of questions about it, decided he'd try it out, and found his new favorite coaster.
I feel as if and I'm just basing this off of what my eyes and brain perceive, is that great adventure generally has more guests than a lot of the other theme parks given the fact it has a bunch of record breaking coasters in the park so guests travel all over the world to experience it so that's probably why El Toro and nitro kingda ka even the run away train has extra seats for guests I'm sure every coaster has one extra car for more riders in each coaster they all seem a big longer in terms of coaster cars than other coasters I've been to .
this was my first and only b&m hyper! i had a lot of fun!! but if its considered one of the weaker ones i cant imagine what something like mako or shambhala must feel like!!
Still closed. And so is el toro. Make sure you check that they are open before you hit the park. I didn’t. I think bizarro nitro and kingda ka are great coasters but man i wanted to hit those 2
@@seandillon1359 Yea, Great Adventure is not all that great when Toro and Jersey Devil are closed. I was considering asking my dad to take me to Great Adventure on my recent Coney Island trip since it's close enough, I opted for Nickelodeon Universe instead because I knew Jersey Devil was closed and Toro was down too (so I wouldn't even get the benefit of reriding an awesome coaster I've ridden. The rest of the park is an average hyper, a ride that lasts 20 seconds, and clones that are everywhere.
I’m not sure if I got a bad ride or something but last week my rides were kind of forceless. It had some good speed but I feel like it wasn’t very intense. The only bit of airtime I got was some slight floater on the bunny hills after the mid-course break run. It was still an awesome coaster especially with the scenery surrounding the coaster.
I just rode this for the first time yesterday and it’s fine. Maybe I need another ride, but it just felt painfully slow to me and I kept thinking we weren’t going to make it over the hill we were on. Floater air was fine; I liked the that the ride was long, but I wouldn’t say that it’s the best in the park even with El Tori down. I think that honor goes to Batman with Jersey Devil, Kingda Ka, and Medusa right behind it. But that’s just my opinion and maybe I really just need another ride.
I think this ride is criminally underrated the airtime hills all slap even if they aren’t as strong as the 5- second floater hills on Mako and Candymonium. It also has zero trimmed camelbacks unlike most hypers which have trims that in my opinion absolutely destroy the pacing. So I personally think that this is a top 3 B&M Hyper maybe behind Diamondback and Shambhala
I love Nitro, favorite coaster in the park. BUT, I totally agree about what you said about the look of the coaster. It is not great looking color wise and the lack of themeing does take away from the experience. I actually think I cool name for the ride would be "Hecate" based on the goddess of witchcraft from Greek mythology. With Jersey Devil coming to that side of the park, I think converting the whole "Adventure Seaport" area into a spooky themed area (thats spooky year round, not just Fright Fest) would be awesome!
I agree with you on Nitro needing a new paint job and a re-theme to replace its lack of one. And honestly, as much as I am loathe to say it, I think a DC comics tie-in would make sense given its location in the park near Batman and Justice League. Maybe go with Doomsday for the name, and a dark grey and faded green kind of color scheme to match.
You can tell that B&M has perfected the layout from Apollo's Chariot and Raging Bull, but has perfected it even more now. This was their 3rd hyper coaster, but their first at a large scale. B&M has definitely done the best they could for the time, and with the technology available at that time, you can tell that Nitro's layout was the best they could have done for that era. I understand the polarizing nature of this ride, but you can never go wrong with a B&M hyper.

Nitro was my third hyper after Steel Force and Superman Ride of Steel Darien Lake. Compared to Darien Lake's Superman and Magnum when I would go on that later that year, Nitro seems tame. The helix didn't do much for me compared to Gold Rusher at Magic Mountain or the Beast and of course Goliath. The only thing I love on Nitro is the hammer head and that third hill. Despite being taller, I loved Superman and Magnum better and Goliath despite a lack of airtime.
I think the ride lacks execution but it probably has one of the best layouts for being a hyper much better than something like intimidator or Apollo’s chariot or even candymonium If the air time was as good as coasters like mako and candymonium this would easily be a top-tier hyper
People just need to appreciate it for what it is. Instead of providing stronger airtime, it tries to get you out of your seat for as long as possible. I like floater, ejector, and flojector airtime pretty equally so I don’t mind it.
I think you should do a re-review of Raging Bull, have your opinions changed at all last time you rode it last year? You gotta agree that first drop in the back is unlike anything else.
I'm going to SFGADV next year, so hopefully I can get on it as well as El Toro and Kingda Ka. (Hopefully covid also eases up or just completely goes away at that point). Update: I rode it 12 times in the back row without getting off. also kingda ka was closed
El Toro is far and away the best coaster at SFGA (my home park) but Nitro is second for me. After years of riding it I still get that first hill anxiety as much as the big stupid grin upon returning to the station.
Ehhh very mixed review B&M hyper but it's a very standard model of it. Miss the nine row trains though. Could be the best upward helix built by the company. Feel like this ride need an overall and a repaint next. Kind of like what they did with bizzaro. Oh yeah it has a badass station music!!

Day ride is ugly, but leaving the park makes the night ride amazing and a sunset over the lake ride in November was the best.

Something kind of interesting is that nitro has 9 rows as opposed to the usual 7 or 8 on a b&m hyper
All of B&M's older hypers have 9 cars. The ones I can think of now are Nitro, Apollo's Chariot, Raging Bull, and Silver Star.
I feel as if and I'm just basing this off of what my eyes and brain perceive, is that great adventure generally has more guests than a lot of the other theme parks given the fact it has a bunch of record breaking coasters in the park so guests travel all over the world to experience it so that's probably why El Toro and nitro kingda ka even the run away train has extra seats for guests I'm sure every coaster has one extra car for more riders in each coaster they all seem a big longer in terms of coaster cars than other coasters I've been to .
this was my first and only b&m hyper! i had a lot of fun!! but if its considered one of the weaker ones i cant imagine what something like mako or shambhala must feel like!!
I love how both B&M Hypers in the Tri-state area are themed to chocolate! 😂
3rd row, right side is my favorite seat. The floater airtime on the big hills lasts the longest.
Nitro is pretty fun. The last drop is super crazy!
I rode Nitro early in my enthusiasthood, I’d love to get back on it, hopefully I can go next year for Jersey Devil.

@@seandillon1359 Yea, Great Adventure is not all that great when Toro and Jersey Devil are closed. I was considering asking my dad to take me to Great Adventure on my recent Coney Island trip since it's close enough, I opted for Nickelodeon Universe instead because I knew Jersey Devil was closed and Toro was down too (so I wouldn't even get the benefit of reriding an awesome coaster I've ridden. The rest of the park is an average hyper, a ride that lasts 20 seconds, and clones that are everywhere.

I was there the same day u were and this is my home park. It was flying that day. Usually it’s a lot slower
They should repaint the track just as yellow and have the supports blue. With fresh yellow on it this would look awesome
I’m not sure if I got a bad ride or something but last week my rides were kind of forceless. It had some good speed but I feel like it wasn’t very intense. The only bit of airtime I got was some slight floater on the bunny hills after the mid-course break run. It was still an awesome coaster especially with the scenery surrounding the coaster.

I just rode this for the first time yesterday and it’s fine. Maybe I need another ride, but it just felt painfully slow to me and I kept thinking we weren’t going to make it over the hill we were on. Floater air was fine; I liked the that the ride was long, but I wouldn’t say that it’s the best in the park even with El Tori down. I think that honor goes to Batman with Jersey Devil, Kingda Ka, and Medusa right behind it. But that’s just my opinion and maybe I really just need another ride.
I think this ride is criminally underrated the airtime hills all slap even if they aren’t as strong as the 5- second floater hills on Mako and Candymonium. It also has zero trimmed camelbacks unlike most hypers which have trims that in my opinion absolutely destroy the pacing. So I personally think that this is a top 3 B&M Hyper maybe behind Diamondback and Shambhala
Nothing next to Mako, Shambala, or Candy, but I love my home B&M hyper 10 minutes away 🥃 This thing severely needs a fresh paint job.
I think it would look good with a nice vibrant red color and black supports
I love Nitro, favorite coaster in the park. BUT, I totally agree about what you said about the look of the coaster. It is not great looking color wise and the lack of themeing does take away from the experience. I actually think I cool name for the ride would be "Hecate" based on the goddess of witchcraft from Greek mythology. With Jersey Devil coming to that side of the park, I think converting the whole "Adventure Seaport" area into a spooky themed area (thats spooky year round, not just Fright Fest) would be awesome!

I agree with you on Nitro needing a new paint job and a re-theme to replace its lack of one. And honestly, as much as I am loathe to say it, I think a DC comics tie-in would make sense given its location in the park near Batman and Justice League. Maybe go with Doomsday for the name, and a dark grey and faded green kind of color scheme to match.

One of nitros best features is a night ride in the woods . Gotta mention that and give it some plus for that
You can tell that B&M has perfected the layout from Apollo's Chariot and Raging Bull, but has perfected it even more now. This was their 3rd hyper coaster, but their first at a large scale. B&M has definitely done the best they could for the time, and with the technology available at that time, you can tell that Nitro's layout was the best they could have done for that era. I understand the polarizing nature of this ride, but you can never go wrong with a B&M hyper.

Nitro was my third hyper after Steel Force and Superman Ride of Steel Darien Lake. Compared to Darien Lake's Superman and Magnum when I would go on that later that year, Nitro seems tame. The helix didn't do much for me compared to Gold Rusher at Magic Mountain or the Beast and of course Goliath. The only thing I love on Nitro is the hammer head and that third hill. Despite being taller, I loved Superman and Magnum better and Goliath despite a lack of airtime.
I think the ride lacks execution but it probably has one of the best layouts for being a hyper much better than something like intimidator or Apollo’s chariot or even candymonium If the air time was as good as coasters like mako and candymonium this would easily be a top-tier hyper

People just need to appreciate it for what it is. Instead of providing stronger airtime, it tries to get you out of your seat for as long as possible. I like floater, ejector, and flojector airtime pretty equally so I don’t mind it.
Like if they profiled some of the hills so that it would be a little bit steeper going up and down the air time would be a lot better
Candy minimum really isn’t that insane. It’s not even in my top 5 hypers

You should consider ranking the B&M Hypers and other models such as B&M inverts, RMC's, GCI's, etc.
I think you should do a re-review of Raging Bull, have your opinions changed at all last time you rode it last year? You gotta agree that first drop in the back is unlike anything else.

It’s was named after WCW Nirto. That why letter are steel looking. Just like the WCW show.
El Toro is far and away the best coaster at SFGA (my home park) but Nitro is second for me. After years of riding it I still get that first hill anxiety as much as the big stupid grin upon returning to the station.
Ehhh very mixed review B&M hyper but it's a very standard model of it. Miss the nine row trains though. Could be the best upward helix built by the company. Feel like this ride need an overall and a repaint next. Kind of like what they did with bizzaro. Oh yeah it has a badass station music!!
Nitro has a nice long first drop. Even though the newer B&M hypers give a slightly better experience, Nitro is still a solid coaster with a decent length and plenty of airtime.
