We have been to Osaka a handful of times the the last 3 years. The last time we where there was to visit the US consulate in early summer. Ah ok, I will keep this in mind for next year. Thanks!
beanie green Yes. Without problem during the day. But keep in mind that it was completely reconstructed at the end of 19th/beginning of 20th century. I think only the castle walls are original but they are still very impressive! I think the park/fortifications around the castle are more interesting the the interior of the castle itself.

May be they have few artifacts but the rest is like history museum with miniatures representing battles, holograms etc. Himeji castle is the one you must see obligatory during sakura time. It is authentic but again there are no too man things inside apart of some samurai armor and tapestries. At least the interior is real - in Osaka castle you are using elevators inside - but the view from above is still beautiful and the park around!

do they have any rooms in the castle showing what it may have looked like back then? Kind of like Versailles (which has lovely gardens).
