- Civilians first started wearing camo in the 1980’s, following wars in Vietnam and Grenada, as a cheap, utilitarian, and somewhat subversive fashion choice.
In the following decades, camo was embraced by the hip-hop community, particularly in New York, and became a way for members of the culture to self-identify, and streetwear's close ties to the hip-hop community have made camo a staple.
In this episode we visit New York's most iconic Army Surplus store, and talk to Angel "NA" Nieves (Camo Season), Akira Mowatt of After Midnight, Mighty Healthy's Ray Mate,Michael MEGA Yabut (Black Scale) as well as pioneering New York graf writer/graphic designer Stash, and rapper Buckshot about growing up with camo during hip-hop's golden age.

So, camouflage is needed by animals that hunt or are hunted, soldiers who need to be unseen and not killed. And let's not forget a bunch of girlies who think it's pretty.
buckshot & the bootcamp clik was the first rap group to rock the camouflage even before WuTang Clan....do your homework....Big ups to Buckshot & Duckdown records.

Talk about misdirecting title on the videos. "Let's call it history of camouflage, but let it exclusively be about fashion without using the word in the title."
Dude these toxic comments. Like go touch grass. 😂.
