The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
    Some are famous.
    And some infamous....
    ....and some with tragic endings.

In 1984 when I was in high school, a boy in my school that was a few years younger than me died in a grain silo. We were in band together and we all went to the funeral. It was the first time I had ever seen a dead person and he was only like 13 years old. It still makes me sad to think of. 😢

For the life of me I can't understand why that supervisor would basically send some kids in there on such a "high risk" job. We all knew they sent them in there because the other workers knew it was a terrible job and they didn't want to do it, so they just sent some kids in there. What an absolute tragedy and my deepest condolences to the families and parents.

Sadly I think this kind of thing happens a lot. When my Dad was a young man he worked in a brewery; when the huge containers of alcohol were empty someone would have to climb in and check them for damage prior to cleaning. The cleaning involved pumping some kind of gas in (I apologise for not being specific, I was a child when my Dad told me about this). Now he never found out who, but while my Dad was in the tank someone turned on the gas without checking it was clear. My Dad knew that there was gas coming- could smell it/hear it. He realised he only had a short amount of time to climb out- which he just managed to do, scrambling up the ladder and gasping for breath. Sadly my Dad is no longer with us (was young when he passed) and I sometimes wonder if whatever was in that gas harmed him. I feel so sorry for the families of those boys, I am glad that the court judgement was in their favour, but I don't imagine for one moment that any amount of money will ever compensate for their unimaginable loss. Thanks again for your sensitivity when sharing these stories and keeping their memory alive.

My father got trapped in a grain silo here in Australia when he was a kid. He just went missing. The only thing that saved him was that they stopped the auger and they heard him yelling. An inspection door near the bottom of silo was opened and they dragged him

My goodness, I’m so sorry for your loss too. It doesn’t matter what age they are when they’re gone. They could be 60 and for us they’re still our baby. I go to bereavement group where every single parent has lost their child from stillbirth to murder. Now we add fentanyl poisoning. Any loss is devastating and our lives are a constant roller coaster. I’m also sorry you lost your husband at such an early age. I’m 63. My parents lost my youngest brother at 40, leaving a wife, daughter and son. My parents are now reunited with my brother and daughter. We will see them again. I asked my late daughter one day that if I ever passed away I wanted her to pick me up. I almost died in 2015, believe it or not, she was standing by her dad in the ER when I regained consciousness Again I looked back, she was gone. They listen to us and are always with us. Her message was, w/o words was, you asked me, I came, you’re okay. I know she will be back when it’s really my time. Many blessings to you and and your daughters, I know they can’t replace the void your son left behind, I know. But let’s be grateful for what we have while we await the day we’re all together as a complete family in Heaven.✨💛✨

This is not uncommon. Some firefighters in farming communities actually train on how to do rescues from grain bins. I have been touched personally by this when a close high school friend was killed this way in 1985. That’s exactly how they get them out, cutting huge holes in the sides of the bins to release the contents. As an adult, I Took care of a teenager who suffered the same fate that was transferred to the trauma center I worked at. He did not survive. A few years ago in Grant Park, Illinois, it happened again, but that time it was an adult.

This is so tragic, it sounds like they weren’t given enough instructions to stay safe, it could have been avoided. I feel so bad for their families, it would be so devastating for them to lose their sons at such young ages, no amount of money could replace these precious boy’s lives 😢💔

Brock developed a grain rescue simulator we’ve had the pleasure of practicing in a few times. They also developed a grain engulfment rescue tube that’s shockingly simple but has saved a lot of lives!

Do this for a living myself. Working for a farmer, it's an uneasy feeling crawling up into those bins. I've even been in a few sketchy situations, and yes that pressure is the hardest part of dealing with the bins. It can quickly overwhelm anyone, especially if they don't know what they are doing.

Rest in peace young men, & everyone. My opinion: I echo your sentiments exactly. The company should no longer be in business. There needs to be a nation wide law that no new comers are aloud near the silos especially inside, only seasoned veterans of the company. I have heard of farmers, & seasoned workers, even though they had been wearing protective gear. Still they where pulled down to their deaths. In shell corn as well as wheat silos. Stay safe Sir & everyone.

12:19 It's been fourteen years since I've been able to see my brother's grave. Although I have a different name online, that is my oldest brother. I miss him so much. It's hard to believe that I am now two years older than he was when he died. Thank you so much for telling his story. He was so goofy, kind, and the best older brother I could have asked for. I love and miss you, Alex. I pray that I will be able to visit your grave soon.

Just had 3 family members of an Amish family die of asphyxiation this way here in Central PA. Another one of their sons had died within the last year from getting caught up in a manure spreader I believe. quite the loss, four family members gone from farming accidents.

So many burials, and you Ron immortalize them of what they did and who they were. So none go forgotten. Many times I see the burials and wonder who were they, what happened, especially if they passed young. What did they do? Never knowing who these kids or adults were. You tell their stories, whether it was devastating or whatnot. Bringing them to life if you will. For that I commend you on what you do in making sure that those stories you can tell, do not go forgotten.

I grew up around an 80,000 bushel grain elevator on my grandfathers farm and we always knew to stay out unless proper supervision was nearby. There were ladders made of rebar in the bins, and also a rope with a pulley above the bins as well. Safety and observation is always your first priority over work, work is always secondary to life. I know of a similar incident that happened a few years back just outside of Genoa Illinois where this very same incident happened. I rode ATV's with one of the sons of the victim, a very awful situation. Always remember that safety is always the first job before beginning any job.
