I was given a jelly baby by Tom Baker at the age of 9, at a book signing he did at Martin's bookshop/newsagents in St.Helens, not too long after he became the Doctor. Still have the autographed book. Lovely fella. All the kids were in awe of him.

I got sent a postcard from Tom Baker when I was a kid in the 90s. I'm autistic and back then Doctor Who was the entire centre of my life. I was sad because he was doing a promo event in London that I couldn't get to so my mum called up and asked if they could send something. She meant some of their promo stuff that thry were selling but they told him I wanted to come so he sent me a postcard to say that he was sorry I couldn't come. I still have it in a frame on my wall! Years later, I got to meet him but I was too nervous to tell him I was the same person. Really lovely guy who appreciates and looks after his fans.

You are telling my exact experience, but it was with my mom. One of the greatest experiences of my life included a weekend at a Doctor Who convention. There was a lunch with a small group of us, and were last to make it into and they led us to the last empty table. When Tom came in he sat down one chair from me. I was over the moon with excitement. Talk about about making a young girls dream come true. Very good time. So grateful for that experience. 🙏🏼🥳

I'll tell you why Tom Baker is the greatest Doctor ever. When I'm having a bad day and want to improve my mood, I reach for a classic Doctor Who DVD(or Monty Python, Little Britain, etc..etc..). And almost every time it's from the Tom Baker era. Tom's presence and voice can't be beat. I do enjoy other Doctors. Jon Pertwee has some of the best stories. The writing was great during that time period. But Tom Baker just became that character better than anyone else. Probably because he was just playing himself. He's quite quirky and eccentric in real life. Playing an alien came quite natural to him. I really don't think anyone will ever come close to reaching the excellence of Tom Baker in the role.

It was a sort of a revelation. I was so mesmerized by the late 70's special effects and the complete bizarreness of it all. I almost thought I was dreaming. I watched the _Robot_ series in early-1975 when I was going on nineteen years-old then life and work ramped-up and I didn't see Doctor Who again until late-2021 on BritBox. I remembered scenes from _Robot_ like I'd watched only yesterday. Then I learned that dear Elizabeth Sladen had passed away and that filled me with sorrow. I remember several moments where the Doctor was being very sympathetic and trying to help someone whom everyone assumed was just evil. I think I remember one with a budding AI who didn't quite understand what it was yet. Or one where an alien was killing and he tried to understand if it was simply hungry and if there could be a peaceful solution. Or when he's understandably angry at someone's blatant disregard for life. I think those are his best moments.
Doctor: "Appreciate it? APPRECIATE IT? That you could commit mass destruction and murder on a scale that's almost inconceivable and you ask me to APPRECIATE IT? Just because you happen to have made a brilliantly conceived toy off of the mummified remains of planets!"

Tom baker is great as the priest in the she devil. He is among the funniest people on earth but he can also play very dramatic roles with realism.

For those of us of a certain age, Tom Baker is the ONLY Doctor. All others are mere pretenders to the throne.

William Hartnell is the original, though. The first one and the one who started it all.

    Something missing on this list...
the final scene of "Shada" .................while the Curator is great.....Shada is epic

Shada is at least Tom as the Fourth Doctor. The Curator is (possibly) a future Doctor.

I think I'm entering a Dr. Who phase and Tubi has classic episodes BEFORE The 9th Doctor. I hear the 4th Doctor was the best of them all.

Not to be pedantic, but does his appearance in Day of the Doctor really count as a Fourth Doctor moment?
