You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed the recording. Yes, when you consider the magnitude of his once in a generation talent as an innovator on bass and his abilities/promise as a composer/arranger, I agree with you that he's underrated.
Great to hear this! Have loved Randy's playing since that time. Met and played with him at the benefit for Jaco September 1987 (with Pat Metheny and Peter Erskine). I played bass for most of the benefit. I was invited by Rory P, my very good friend. Got to hang with Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter. Jaco's dad also played drums. An amazing and sad weekend. Jaco who loves you brother!!
Glad you enjoyed the recording Brian. And thanks for sharing you story regarding your connection with the family and the events surrounding the funeral that you were a part of. I wish you a great remainder of the weekend. Hope all is well bass brother :)

Thanks for posting So wonderful to listen to Jaco and considering the state of his mental health he sounds, well like “Jaco “ An inspiration to all bass players ❤👍🏽
You know what gets me about Jaco? I always used to think he could play as well as he did right out of the gate from the very first day he picked up a bass guitar, I just can't imagine him as a beginner, it's like he was a total natural and always a virtuoso from day one.❤
@@b2meb2meb2me Really? I didn't know that. So, how old was he when he first picked up the bass guitar? I know he put out his first album out, Jaco Pastorius, "Jaco Pastorius", at the age of 19, anything before that I haven't got a clue. Please! Enlighten me! As a outsider I'd like to learn.
@@b2meb2meb2me That's amazing, that's only 7 years from beginner to pro. I've been playing that fivefold, and I still can't hold a candle to Jaco Pastorius is playing.
Grazie! Un'altra splendida perla! Pastorius sembrava in ottima forma. L'avevo ascoltato in Italia a Pistoia il mese prima con Bireli Lagrene e Serge Bringolf, e anche in quell'occasione aveva suonato magnificamente.
You're welcome Massimiliano. And thanks for sharing the story of when you got to see Jaco live in Pistoia. I always cherish to communicate with people who got to see Jaco in concert. It must have been a phenomenal experience :) Greetings from winter Norway
Grazie a Te per questi documenti rari ed emozionanti che tu regali a noi tutti. Sono stato 4 volte in Norvegia, e penso che sia il paese più bello d'Europa dal punto di vista naturalistico. In quale parte della Norvegia vivi?
Oh yes. That was the setting for the times I saw him in '82. I saw him play at another venue down the street on Sunrise Boulevard, Caribbean Cafe or something like that a few years after. He played solo, alternating sets with Othello. Not such a great performance from him then, he seemed pissed off. The shows in '82 were legendary. As were the orbit of excellent local musicians that played at the Cafe Exchange that summer. @@JacoPastoriusArchive
It was indeed the Musician's Exchange. I forgot to include all of the info. I have now updated a complete list in the description, including a list of all the musicians.
Never heard this before! Thanks for posting. Jaco is by far one of the most underrated musicians of all time.

Glad to hear this material surfacing. Jaco in his home court. What venue was this?
None other than the legendary Musicians Exchange.
