They could easily do that with a “Home Defense” expansion. Have the Zeppelins and Gotha bombers, sea planes, and the outdated British planes defending the island. That would be awesome!
I always wondered how ww1 fights were like, since the planes were more agile, probably it was a more intense dogfight, along with the fact most planes had no protection apart from their frames and fabric to keep the pilot from being sniped, it’s quite nice to see it
WW1 dogfights are considered the most pure form of dogfighting. With such low speeds and the developing technologies of the era, pilot skill was very important. More important than the aircraft themselves.
I would say that WW1, WW2 and the Korean War was the wars with the most pilot skill in them, But the hardest planes to fly was probably the WW1 planes and I believe that if Manfred Von Richthofen would have fought in WW2 he would probably be among the top Aces with around 300 victories.
@@erikgothberg8078 I'd honestly wager that Vietnam is up there too, considering the technology at the time. Despite there being radar guided missiles, there were still a lot of dog fights with just guns and/or early IR guided missiles. Of course, that was before the almost complete capitulation of VPAF
For the left hand turns in the DR.1 I've found that you want to have less angle of roll and use a lot more rudder to turn most effectively. That is in Rise of Flight but I'm sure that should transfer over.
Wolfpack I was watching a tutorial on shooting, guy used the sights on the guns as well. If the plane is turning left you put the sights of the right gun sight on target, and if he is turning right you put your left gun sight on target.

I don’t understand why your throttle goes up in percentages. I thought rotary engines had 2 settings - On and Off - and you controlled the speed with the blip switch.
Only the 100hp Gnome had no engine controls besides the blip. All the more advanced rotaries (Le Rhone, Oberursel, Clerget, et al) had air (throttle) and fuel (mixture) controls, and I think the Camel's Clerget also had magneto controls (you can often hear it firing intermittently when authentic-engined Camels land: pop pop pop pop!) in conjunction with the blip. See Historynet article "The Truth About Rotaries" for more.
You have to buy both due to the way steam works, BoS is considered the base game and Flying Circus is counted as a DLC for BoS. I think you can buy Flying Circus separately from the IL-2 store, but I've only bought through steam
Yeah it didn't give you that 3rd Dolphin because the pilot was able to glide to a safe intact landing in friendly territory. If you wanted the kill numbers you would need to make sure it was a crash, not a landing.
Historically parachutes were not used in aircraft in WWI... but not because of technology. Some idiots in cushy staff rooms thought that pilots would be more likely to bail out rather than fight and so they weren't issued any parachutes. That is why pilots used to carry pistols or cyanide pills to kill themselves in case their aircraft caught fire... Just another example of callous tragic stupidity this war, and especially its leaders, is remembered for. Balloon observers, on the other hand, were given parachutes, as can be seen in this vid.
@@electricdreams8237 Germans got parachutes back in WW1. Ernst Udet used it once in combat. Just the entente high command wasn't handing them out to their pilots. This is also reflected in FC.

@@Trve_Kvlt I kind of agree, But there was not really that many dogfights in Vietnam.
Fighter pilote were not issued with parachutes in World War 1. Just the observers in the balloons
The Germans were issued with them later in the war.
From my understanding British pilots were not supplied parachutes because they could jump out of a plane early, like a COWARD

Because the armies of the time though not giving the pilots parachutes would make them fight harder.
