He was "clearly outpowered" even though he had more diamond armor along with it being enchanted while the other guy only had half diamond no enchants, i think i could be wrong and didnt see the glow but still
He also had high ground with a strong bow. Sword had only a bumorang. The reason sword won in the end was because of his bow and the burning tree strategy. He turned a disadvantage into an advantage.

a halberd is more than just an axe, more than a spear, more than a war pike, more that a pole blade, and capable of formation combat.
halberds like the pole arm were born from an age of full plate+chainmail where super heavy impacts and pointy bits won the day.
and with the advent of the gun which basically gave every soldier a long range projectile-like halberd, armor was largely discarded.
