  • The passenger compartment of the XV remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Subaru demonstrated that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection of the driver was good for all critical body areas. However, the pelvis of the rear passenger dummy slipped below the lap section of the seatbelt. Protection of the pelvis was rated as poor and the score was penalised. Protection was otherwise good or adequate. In the side barrier test, protection of all critical body areas was good and the XV scored maximum points. Even in the more severe side pole test, protection of the chest was adequate and that of other parts of the body was good. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of the rear seats also indicated good whiplash protection. The standard-fit
    'Eyesight' autonomous emergency braking system performed well in tests of its functionality at the low speeds at which many whiplash injuries are caused, with collisions avoided at all test speeds.

    My wife just got T-boned in the drivers side in her 2018 Crosstrek. She walked away without a scratch. A little sore but that's to be expected. Our previous car she would have been in the hospital at least. Car was totaled but we have another one on the way to be delivered in a couple days. After this I wouldn't have anything else.

      Thanks a lot for your "REAL WORLD" report! Great that your wife was rather o.k. after that crash! I bought a 2020 Crosstrek last year and I´m happy that it is a safe car.

    Subaru is one of the best car factories in the world. The cars are very safe like a Volvo, dynamical behavior is great, and the engines are very reliable.
    Subaru is a car made for persons who loves a good car.

      @Julian McGuigan all their family haulers do. Their compact and sports cars do get lower safety ratings, but still very good compared to the competition.

    I've been looking for a video like this since before i got my Crosstrek in October. Glad to know it holds up to subaru standards!

      Hey, our family is thinking of getting a crosstrek.
      I've looked at almost everything else, but always keep coming back to the crosstrek.
      What have you thought so far with yours? Would you buy it again, and are there any things you don't like?
      Thanks!

      Blue Dominator I just bought a new 2018 crosstrek premium with eyesight and with about 200 miles on it I haven't found anything other than noise when having the back windows and or sunroof open. It makes the rumbling noise that hurts your ears at some speeds. The front windows do not cause that noise at any speed from what I've experienced. Test drive to an look for those thinks. Rick Hutton (I think) does great videos with updates on how he feels about his crosstrek. The eyesight system is incredible, it's more than I hoped for a smart investment in my opinion. Yes I've only had it for a week so take all of this with a grain of salt (a big grain if salt). As of right now it's the best car I've ever owned and I am averaging 30 mpg with mostly city (suburb) driving. I'm having fun with accelerating fast so it's fuel economy is great even when you want to have fun.

    An airbag UNDER the dash? Now that is a must have! Stops the sharp bits from flying back.

    Still can't believe Subaru's wrap around the pole that much @ 1:50 ... Would love to see stiffer passenger cells like Tesla from a safe car company like them!

      @TheSpoovy 4 года назад +2

      Stiffer means more energy transferred to whatever is inside the car ie you. That "wrapping around" is intentional and exactly what you want to see.

      I believe that the Subaru engineers know what they’re doing, that’s why people buy these vehicles because they are so safe, and I’m sure there’s plenty of data that you could research and find out, best wishes

      If you were in a Tesla it would have started on fire and you would have been pinned in it. Tesla's are not that safe and very prone to severe fires.
