I never bought a theme I only get those free and ps+ themes. Some games like Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 Remix on the PS4 have themes which you get if you finish the games. They are pretty neat.

After that, another 50 I have to scroll through. Sony needs to remove their stuff or at least give us an option to filter specific “developers” out.
So true it's sad tbh. At least America has some good themes but Europe only has 200-300 themes and 95% of them are based on video games. The only one i really like is the christmas theme because it's a non-game related dynamic theme. Most of the EU/UK PS Store themes aren't even dynamic. At least give us some more dynamic abstract themes or let us download custom themes from the internet like on PS3.
Nice to find a video showing these themes (deserves a sub) sucks that you cant view them, sucks even more that you cant install (save your own themes) like you could on ps3.. For a next gen console it still has some catching up to do in a lot of departments
Its 2019, IMO the best theme is the "Legacy Dynamic Theme". It plays a playstation 2 start up sound and zooms in and reads a cheesy text like "old school" or something BUT it's so awesome. I highly suggest looking it up. Plus its crisp on my 49 inch 4k TV
You're right. I have very high standards with themes. Visuals, music, and sound effects all have to be good for me to really enjoy them. The problem is some of themes have terrible audio and or visual quality and they're usually made by the same company too. My favorites are as follows and they're ALL dynamic - Uncharted 4 shipwreck, Hanami (Cherry Blossom), Hellblade, Paragon Agora Ruins (FREE btw), Aurora and Sea, Dishonored 2 Karnaca (FREE), Shadow of the Beast Roger Dean Theme, and Rime preorder I have high standards and these all meet them. The Uncharted and Hellblade themes are the highest quality, but believe it or not Paragon Agora Ruins theme is really one of the best, though the music maybe isn't Hanami Cherry Blossom has the best sound effects though. Not my favorite visually. My favorite visually is Uncharted 4 shipwreck and Hellblade. Hellblade also has some of the best audio too IMO. The Uncharted 4 themes have great music but they do loop it a bit too much.

My rule of thumb for themes, only buy ones for games you want to support more and if you want to actually use it then make sure the music is good. Only one I've bought is the Transistor theme because I love the game and it comes with really calming music. The only other ones I would consider are the Pyre theme, Persona 5 Velvet Room theme (because it comes with the music) and another P5 one with the Beneath the Mask instrumental version.
My fave theme is the firewatch theme! My baby brother accidentally bought it but... He picked a good one to accidentally buy! It changes based on your time and it's background music is actually pretty peaceful
Steve Rogers Ps3 was quite good for its time, but ps4 is better. For example, ps3 games are capped on 30 fps, and most games run at 25-30 fps. Ps4 is capped at 60 fps, and runs most games at 50-60 fps.
I always check RUclips on themes that I find interested, so I'd know what theme I'm buying is good or not. If they don't have it here, then it's a 50/50 chance it's good or not after I buy it. Also, you kick ass on trophies. ;)
I currently have the Final Fantasy X To Zanarkad theme, and I love it. It is very beautiful and the characters in it even move a bit, so it doesn't feel like a still image. It also replaces the silent menu theme with the pleasant Final Fantasy theme.

For people that wanna see this theme, go to avatars, keep scrolling and you’ll find persona 5 and my god they are incredible, the most entertaining and most fun themes on the ps4. I got a red crystal dynamic theme with a preorder of supergot psvr and I haven't changed it for like 2 years. It's nice and not too intrusive with little red crystals floating around

The Legacy theme by Truant Pixel is really good and has that extra effort into it. Truant Pixel also made the Undertale theme with an original song to go along with it. I think those are the two best themes.
What I do, is go on the PS store and take a screen shot from one of the pics of the game u like or whatever. Then make that my custom theme, they can look reallllly good when put with the right color and you don’t have to spend 3 bucks for a piece of junk
A lot of the themes have been getting disgusting lately. I remember recently i was browsing themes and there was a theme of a close up of a tarantula's face. It was the most horrifying thing considering i have a phobia over spiders
I feel like I didn't need this explained to me, but still... you did a good job of showing this and revealing this to a wider audience that might not know how fucking terrible the majority of themes are, so that they can save their money. Plus, with a little work, it's still possible to make your own and get it on your own PS4. I did. Save your money, people. The purchasable PS4 themes suck.

Simple rule: best themes usually come from preorders (plus they feel special because they're exclusive) or free offers, if it's over $2 you're probably better off without it. Currently my favorite themes are gravity rush and skullgirls these were the nicest themes i ever got
I remember back in the day when PS3 allowed fan made themes. Most of them were top notch. It's a pity that you can't do that anymore. I recently got FF7 on ps4 which came with a theme. I am satisfied with it so far.

I recommend the paper sculpture theme, it has nice music and isn't hard on the eyes, plus its free.

I got a red crystal dynamic theme with a preorder of supergot psvr and I haven't changed it for like 2 years. It's nice and not too intrusive with little red crystals floating around

I bought the cities from space theme, when I put it on, I’ve just left it because it looks cool. Usually with themes I can’t decide and change them quite often lol

The Blue Nebula dynamic theme by Truant Pixel is like a little love letter to the PS2 dashboard!
The Legacy theme by Truant Pixel is really good and has that extra effort into it. Truant Pixel also made the Undertale theme with an original song to go along with it. I think those are the two best themes.
When i had a ps4 i had a animate forest with a purple sky and it was stormy it was really good

Spiral is my favorite theme. Although the FFV and the Witcher 3 themes were really awesome.
The Black Ops 3 Zombies DLC pre-order themes are insanely good. Zetsubou No Shima is one I use often because of how damn awesome it is.
For me the biggest problem is the icons, most themes have icons so ugly they look like crappy homemade DVDs.

What I do, is go on the PS store and take a screen shot from one of the pics of the game u like or whatever. Then make that my custom theme, they can look reallllly good when put with the right color and you don’t have to spend 3 bucks for a piece of junk
A lot of the themes have been getting disgusting lately. I remember recently i was browsing themes and there was a theme of a close up of a tarantula's face. It was the most horrifying thing considering i have a phobia over spiders
I feel like I didn't need this explained to me, but still... you did a good job of showing this and revealing this to a wider audience that might not know how fucking terrible the majority of themes are, so that they can save their money.
Plus, with a little work, it's still possible to make your own and get it on your own PS4. I did.
Save your money, people. The purchasable PS4 themes suck.

When I looked for themes (only a little bit though, I saw none of these.. Even though I won't be getting any themes except for the Tetris Effect one, it's a very helpful video!

Simple rule: best themes usually come from preorders (plus they feel special because they're exclusive) or free offers, if it's over $2 you're probably better off without it. Currently my favorite themes are gravity rush and skullgirls these were the nicest themes i ever got
I remember back in the day when PS3 allowed fan made themes. Most of them were top notch. It's a pity that you can't do that anymore. I recently got FF7 on ps4 which came with a theme. I am satisfied with it so far.
Y’all sleeping on the “Power Up Your Gameplay Birthday Theme” it’s ps plus exclusive and not out anymore, but imo it’s really nice
I’ve only bought 2 themes one of them was a theme with cats flying around on pizzas shooting lasers in space
And the other one was a 4K mountain background with snow it was pretty cool and they both where 4K
There is a really cool Doctor Who theme where it fades between characters every time you switch between menus.
