I have the same question as Onemazi. My top burners all work, but the small oven is not igniting. (It is a 48', two oven model). I replaced the ignitor and it doesn't glow, I smell no gas, but assume there is a safety preventing gas flow when there is no working ignitor element. Where should I look next?
Just curious if you have ever fixed the Griddle that is in the middle of the 2 Oven unit. The igniter works but no gas is coming out of the tube for the igniter to light.
Do you know if the spark module replacement works if - My stove and all 4 burners work but the oven igniter does not click at all. Replaced the igniter in the oven but that is not the problem since it still doesn't click. However, the 4 range burners work fine. Do you know what it could be?
Disappointing to see a top end range such as Viking fail. Hey thanks for your content. I have a question say there was a supply chain collapse and no way to get a spark module is it possible to light the burners with a lighter similar to those to light barbeque pits until part comes in.
Hi I have a Viking 6 burner with the griddle. For the longest time, only 1/6 burners would ignite but I didn’t mind. However, now that one stopped igniting and basically all 6 burners do click but only ignite with a lighter. I’m thinking it’s either all the spark modules or the spark ignition switch. Any thoughts?
Thank you for such a great informative video! Question: I have a 4 burner Viking, the 24in VGIC245 model. The two right burners are fine (often they spark click to no flame until you turn them off and try again, 2nd time being the charm). However on the two left burners, there is only gas coming through, while the only spark clicks that occur happen on the right burners. What do you think the fix is? 1) Cleaning the spark plug heads as you have shown in a video with brush and cleaner 2) replacing the plugs (Spade connectors?) beneath the two left side spark posts 3) replacing the spark module altogether THANK YOU in advance for any help you can provide!
Hi-Great video on changing the spark module. I have the same issue with all four burners not lighting and not clicking put also at the same time the oven does not work as well. Interestingly, if I turn the oven on, all four burners spark and light appropriately, but the oven still does not work. I turn the oven off, and the burners do not spark or light.
Great video. I have a 6 burner VGIC4876GSS with 2 spark modules, 1 serving burners 1, 2, 3, and the other burners 4, 5, 6. Two of the wires broke by the ignitor, so I bought a new wire harness package. I plugged burner 1 into terminal 1 on spark module 1, burned 2 into terminal 2 on spark module 1, burner 4 into terminal 1 on spark module 2, etc. If I turn on any of burners 1, 2, or 3, burner 3 sparks (and lights when there is gas flowing to it). If I turn on any of burners 4, 5, or 6, then burner 6 sparks (and lights when there is gas flowing to it). Looking to confirm 1. When one burner on a module looks to start all of the burners on that module should be sparking. 2. The modules operate independently so that when one burner looks to start only the burners (and all the burners) on that module should spark. I reversed the wires at terminals on the spark module, so that burner 5 is lit from terminal 6 and vice versa. Now, burner 5 sparks when I turn it on and burner 6 no longer does. Did the same with wires on terminals 3 and 4. This leads me to believe that the wires are good (at least 3,4, 5, 6) and the ignitors are good (again, at least 3,4, 5, 6). Can a bad module spark on only one of the three terminals? Note that the spark modules were totally disconnected from the wires to the burners (but not large the wires to the modules) while I waited for the new wires. When they were first disconnected, they would spark when a burner was turned on for 1-3 minutes. After a week or so, however, they no longer sparked. Thank you. Dan
We have a Viking gas range viking range VGIC485-4GQBUBR with 4 burners and a grill/griddle. The two right burner and grill will continuously click without stopping. The grill always lights. The back burner lights 20 percent of the time and the front burner never lights. Help please! A new service man came by and it ill cost 1200$ to fix it according to their estimate.
Thank you!!!!
You’re welcome Rhonda😊
Appreciate your exposing l the possibilities: cracked ceramic, dirty jets etc. very helpful.

Hi Richard,
Can you send that question and your model number to: scottthefixitguy@yahoo.com
Thanks brother!!!!!!!!!

I’ve never fixed one but, I bet that igniter just needs to be replaced.
When they get old, they glow but don’t allow the gas to flow.

Do you mean the surface burners or the oven burners?

I would replace the spark module .

Did you ever figure that out ?
My viking is doing the same thing.
Is this the model rvgr33025bss?
What is the correct spark behavior? Is it a single spark or is it many sparks (how many?) when a burner is turned on?
Lots of sparks until it lights.

Can you try plugging it into a different outlet with an extension cord?
