root is the default user im kali linux.
And what you want to use in kali Linux.
If you want to use kali linux for things other than pentesting and anything cyber security related. Then choose another distro kali is not designed for that.

I wanted to know the difference between SCP and Curl, i.e if SCP can copy file from one machine to another then what is advantage of curl over it ?

I believe SCP is for ssh only. Curl can support SCP, http,ftp and various other protocols
