I'm currently working on my industrial design degree (product design) and products like this are still to this day a major inspiration for us, so it's cool to see a video dedicated to it! During the 70s and 80s designers were extremely explorative in their design ideations, something that's making a major comeback now with the next generation of designers!

I collect '70/'80 classic B&O, and this one is very beautiful, sleek and stylish, despite being an entry level system. Only technical downside IMO is the lack of Dolby B in the cassette section - AFAIR this was due to lack of space.
The "analogue" green/red record-indicator is surprisingly useful in practice.
Sitting with the 1977 B&O catalogue in my hands right now, the heading says: "Beocenter 1500 - For those who want to save both money and space" 🙂

I still distinctly remember the B&O products my extended family had when I was growing up. My grandparents had this really elegant CTR TV with fantastic speakers on the bottom, which made the whole form factor vertical rather than horizontal. This also made it really easy adjust on the accompanying stand on top of having far superior sound to any TV today. My brother had stereo from probably the 80's that faced upwards, because it was designed to be mounted on walls rather than planted on horizontal surfaces. This made it convenient, space efficient and endlessly aesthetic.
As a kid, these products were so amazingly charming in their tactile and sleek designs. Nothing was ever "just" a button, and they always felt distinct from the many other products you saw everywhere. It's always nice when a company dares to just _not_ do the same as everyone else. Be it introduce another dimension just to show off the build quality, mount a countertop product on a wall, or stretch a 4:3 TV chassis to be 1:2.

When I visited Finland in 1979, every middle class family had a Beosystem. My billet's parents were a bit older and they had an early 70s Philips system with the last tall-display multiband tuner. Only one family had the 1500 and I sat in front of it for almost the whole time I visited.
I wish 3D design were more prevalent in solid-state electronics because ventilation is a good thing. Of course, it wasn't a big deal for audiophiles...
