    Great comparison between these two great sounding speakers. I have been planning to buy a QSC k12.2, but this video has definitely changed my mind. I will go for the Mackie SRM212 because of the depth in the sound.

    Great review.
    Welcome back again Mackie.
    Big fan from the Srm 450 first model and in my opinion I think Mackie did it again with more powerful innovation structure sound with the quality that we all know from the Srm V1.
    Well done 👏🏻

    Great review! The sound difference between the initial comparison. I have the K12.2’s and absolutely love them, to a point. Never been a fan of the new “Dance” mode. Wish there was just a deep mode like the original K-series. There’s too much midrange cut to make it sound decent without extra EQ. The SRM212 sounded really full and nice across all presets. Outdoor/ Indoor mode seems great. Thanks for the review!

    • @BrianDiener
      @BrianDiener  3 года назад

      "Full across all presets" is a great way to put it. I agree with you on the midrange cut on the K12.2's - It becomes more evident when listening to them side by side with the SRM's, (or even 3-way speaker cabinets) that they lack a bit in the mid range. But like you said, we still love them up til that point. Thanks for watching!

    • @jhue73
      @jhue73 2 года назад

      @@BrianDiener there is a reason for midrange cut it makes voices cleaner. when tuning systems almost always mids have to be cut to clean up voices on mics. this would make the k12 better for live music and srm212 better for dj. but an eq can fix alot.

    I planing to host small outdoor events for 2-500 peoples. Will 2 x 15" speakers and 2 x 18" do the job ?
    To answer you'r video on the review i did think the Mackie sounded much fuller and deeper than the QSC.
    Im a JBL fan to be honest, but listening to this test with my headset, it was easy to pick Mackie over QSC.
    Thanks again for the review. If you want to recomend me a bigger set up for my outdoor Raves than 2 x Mackie SRM212 i be happy 🙏

    This is an incredibly informative video! The outdoor sound comparison between the Mackie SRM212's & QSC K12.2's was very clear & very helpful. I've been on the fence for a bit as to which speaker line I'm going to upgrade to (I'm coming from the Mackie SRM550 & SRM650 series), and this video has solidified my decision in going toward Mackie's new SRM212 & SRM215 V-Series line. Great Review!
    As per the qsc vs mackie
    When comparing side by side it is expected to sound different due to each manufacturers design and specs. But I do say mackie stepped it up with that sexy look and all in all it does sound much more "Full" in sound. More depth but if you adjust the eqing on the qsc It will sound good. This is definitely a game changer because now people have an additional choice of speakers. 6 year warranty is definitely why qsc also led the market but now that mackie has done it now entertainers have a choice. Whats very important in all is this. Mackie Jbl Qsc Ev are 4 of the top competitors making speakers in different spec ranges and prices. Ultimately you have to budget, listen and choose. There are alot of speaker companies out and the best way is to simply try and decide what works best. I personally had the chance to listen to their drm line array stuff and must say it sounded very nice. Price is definitely a deciding factor. Excellent video and very good job on description of detail. Thanks for the video.

    For me the Macke the has more like a typical active sepeaker sound but the QSC 12.2 is more like a professional sounding cabinet, and the build quality is also much better on the K12.2. If you miss something you can just adjust the eq. I don’t think a speaker needs to sound great out of the box, its better to have a more flat and compressed sound becaouse you can easly adjust it to the room.

    Kinda feel the Mackie's are a little fat in the low-mids, but that can be addressed with the equalizer. Whereas, the K12.2's seemed a little thinner or somewhat hollow in the mid-voice range, but definitely offered clearer voices.

  • @isomorphic97
    @isomorphic97 3 месяца назад

    In dance mode, before the voice kicked in, I found the ksc tighter, but yes the highs are really a selling point for the mackies. But as we just play techno/psytrance. I’m not sure which might be better.

    Almost all speakers are on sale right now, Mackies don’t always sound the best I have 3 thumps one of which is a different generation that are not bad but not good but - these sound pretty dang good in my option. I may have to go with these over QSCs. I love QSCs if they didn’t fail and crap out on you and need constant updates or whatever just to work I’d go with QSC, but I think I can work with a little mid range punch these mackies have to get the reliability they offer. I’ve never had a mackie crap out on me. But I know lots of people who have QSCs crap out on them, and my band had it happen once too with one of ours. Could not get it to work at all at a gig., took it home, plugged it in, and it worked fine. Just absolutely ridiculous that they can’t figure this out. I thousand dollars for a damn speaker should at least get reliability out of it.

  • @fluidmindorg
    @fluidmindorg 2 года назад

    Thanks for the review. Question: When you switched the Mackie to "Live" and "Club" EQ presets, did you also switch the QSC to its "Live" and "Dance" presets? If so, that is an incredible difference! If not, it's not a fair comparison.

    • @BrianDiener
      @BrianDiener  2 года назад +1

      Yes that is correct. The label at the top of the screen shows the mode both speakers are set to so it's as equal as possible! Live versus live. Club versus dance. And so on. However, these presets are each company's vision for what the speaker should sound like in that given situation with their respective herbs and spices of DSP and EQ. These presets are inherently subjective, so they're not really supposed to sound identical just because the modes are both the same. Rather, it's up to the listener to determine which recipe tastes better!

      Yes I have, plenty of horsepower. They're on par with K12.2's in terms of output. Wider dispersion at 90º versus the K12.2's at 75º. But the SRM212 V Class has slightly more dB output, so they kinda even out.
      They limit differently than the QSC's though. The QSC's have an overall volume dip at limit. Whereas the Mackie's sound more like a frequency-specific dip at the problem area.

      During my testing, I let them sit in the sun for about an hour on a 90ºF day - no issues to report there. I've yet to use them in the sun at a longer event, but I'm not worried about it. The SRM212's are fully HALT tested and approved, which involves letting them run at max volume for 100 hours while the room temperature gradually increases to well over 100ºF. So that inspires confidence for me knowing they can pass the stress test. The current temperature of the speaker can also be checked and monitored in the "about" section of the digital interface as well.
