Learning on your own is tough. This is a treasure to see and have the instructions at the same time. I painted today and tomorrow this will be in mind as I apply the next portion and layers. Thanks you so much!
This is one of the best videos on a skill few instructors or painters talk about. If they do talk about it, they never demonstrate it as you have done.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, MR. FARGES!! Your videos have been a true game changer for me. I am not a beginner, but I have made more advances watching your videos than any one or anything else. These are things that no one ever told me, or ever explained when I asked why I was getting certain results.
Merci.
Me: I have a bunch of 16x20 canvases I bought in bulk. They’d be great for practicing this. Also me: I wonder how much ‘modern art’ is really just artists monetizing their painting practice…
@@AezlyndWanderin You don’t have to throw away a canvas after practice - just let it thoroughly dry and then paint over it with any background color. Many famous artists have hidden layers or even abandoned paintings they covered

The more we understand our tools,
the less we fight with them.
Nice. 🙂
Amazing video, never thought of this exercise and it looks fun!
👍🏼👍🏼
It is! Simple but not deceptively simple at the same time!
Such a good reminder for something we Beginners probably take for granted more often than not 👍 Particularly with oils!
Yeah ✨️ ✨️ ✨️
Absolutely! Sometimes, people don't get the right color before of the brush work and it's a kind of forgotten dimension of painting.
This video is totally useful 👌🏻✨️👌🏻✨️👌🏻✨️
Thank you so much
Fantastic information as usual, thank you so much !
This is really something I need to practice... I always press pretty hard.

Bob Ross teaches this about 12 minutes in every time

@@gideonk123 that’s one of my favorite art history tidbits. That they’ve found hidden masterpieces with modern technology scanning psintings
