  • THE ATELIER OF FIGURATIVE ARTS - Learn Art in the Academic Tradition online with an amazing community: The idea is that we all work together on the same exercises and share our progress, we all do the same challenge, we all get critqued together, we learn a lot from each other.
    ▶ Here's how it works:
    Each week, I'll upload a Painting Assignment on Tuesday and a Drawing Assignment on Friday. I'll then cover it in a Live Stream or in a RUclips Video (make sure that all your notifications are turned on, on all platforms).
    To download the Assignment Plate, you need to go to the dedicated Patreon Collection, here : / 736761
    Note that you don't have to be a Paid Member and that all Free Members can access and download the Plates (it's free and open access).
    Then you just do the assignment (easy, right?) and you can post in the Discord when it's done or when you need help from the community. Use the tags to make the process smoother!
    Discord invite is here:
    / discord
    ▶ The Atelier Mindset:
    - We're not trying to make something artistic with these assignment but train on key artistic notions that aim towards improving realism.
    - This method follows the Academic tradition so some of these are tough, the highest level of excellence should be your goal, don't botch your work!
    - Don't improvise, follow the model exactly and stick to the instructions.
    - Each Assignment plate has 3 difficulty levels, pick the right instruction for your level (level 1 is beginner Atelier student level, level 2 is approximately the second year of academic training and level 3 is the last year of classical training)
    - Take your time, you don’t have to finish to assignments in a week (I do it, you have to take your time and apply yourself!)

    I am an artist living and working in France. I learned the techniques of the Atelier of the Nineteenth century and now I try to share some of my knowledge with the rest of the world, because I think that beauty still has an important role to play in artistic creation. I do mostly drawing and oil painting techniques, thoughts and explanations that can be useful to anyone, from beginners to more advanced artists.

    WOW! i guess i am the only one who was confused with his explanations. for example, CHROMA ACCENT?! maybe cuz i didnt join live stream, sorry but ur vid explanation wasnt as clear as ur other vids. i couldnt relate the live stream video shot that you included in this video..?

    • @FlorentFargesarts
      @FlorentFargesarts  8 дней назад

      Is it the word "chroma" you have a problem with? The stream is on my channel, in the "live" section

    • @Super_impatient
      @Super_impatient 8 дней назад

      @@FlorentFargesarts not just with the word chroma, but what did you mean by chroma accent, also thank you i checked your live stream (not all, due to lack of time as a student)
      plus, why would the color become more and more dull the more you touch it...?

    • @FlorentFargesarts
      @FlorentFargesarts  8 дней назад +1

      @@Super_impatient I just mean a highly saturated touch of color. (chroma here = saturation) I used this phrasing to distinguish it from a value accent where you'd make the stroke lighter or darker, here the value is not changed but what change is the intensity of the color, ie, use pure or almost pure orange or pure pink around the transition area and then blend it if needed to create the impression of volume.

    • @FlorentFargesarts
      @FlorentFargesarts  8 дней назад +2

      @@Super_impatient Color gets dull when disturbed because it mixes with previously applied paint below. (the more you mix a color with many pigments, the more it will tend to dark grey/brown)
