- This was the third single to be released by the pop group allSTARS*. The Land Of Make Believe was originally released by Bucks Fizz in November 1981.
allSTARS* version peaked at number 9 on the UK charts in January 2002.
Released on CD and cassette, it also featured the Xenomania Remix of there previous single Things That Go Bump In The Night and B-Side Rock This House.

Heard this on tv when it came out and 20 years later it still randomly pops into my head.
It actually came to me in my sleep a couple of days ago %) Thank God Google managed to recognize it from my humming 😅
This is a part of my childhood that is so hidden. Allstars never gets talked about ever !
Amazing to realise how many songs from my childhood were just covers of songs from earlier decades.
Love this version, and love the original. I don't get why there has to be hate such "don't fix something that's not broken" attitude to cover versions - they just liked the song and did their version, nothing more.
And yes, I also looked this up to check if there really was a Hollyoaks character in it.

Yes, It's Darren from Hollyoaks, otherwise known as Ashley Taylor-Dawson. He left Hollyoaks to be in allSTARS*, when the group was dropped in mid 2002, he re-joined the cast of Hollyoaks.

That was a kick in the face, in Hollyoaks, then left to do music obviously. They got dropped by their record label, so he went back to Hollyoaks, as they got dropped.

allSTARS* is my favourite pop group from early 2000s, wish to see their comeback one day.
"The Land of Make Believe" became only one song in the history of my retrospective chart, which was # 1 in three different versions, when Blogos Mergaites got # 1 with "Norim Buti Vaikais" (cover on Lithuanian language) in 2008. The combined result is 21 weeks at # 1 (!!!) - nine for Bucks Fizz, seven for allSTARS* and five for Blogos Mergaites. Original was my "Song of the Year" from 1981 year, allSTARS* cover version is my favourite single from 2002.
I adore all three versions and gave very rare, but deserved 10 / 10 score.

that it is ''way better'' than the original version that was done by Bucks
Fizz. Their song reached the number 1 position on the UK charts for 2
weeks in January 1982 and remained on the charts for a total of 16
weeks!

True, but it's all personal opinion, i prefer the allSTARS version, no matter how unsuccesful it was. I don't like the reggae-lite of the Bucks Fizz version.
Bucks Fizz is the original and the best in my view but I give these ones an A for effort

Yikes! Musicians back in the day had more of a sense that they were there to entertain, even though it was somewhat about themselves also.
However today, it's all about having your face in the camera and being adored and super sexy in your nakedness, making the music second. This actually makes you grotesque and not beautiful.
