If you allow the solid waste to break down (with the assistance of worms) in the bottom of growbeds filled with clay pebbles you will have a better nutrient profile for flowers and fruit. Its not a viable option for large scale commercial operations, hence they stick with lettuce and leafy greens.

yes but then it is not aquaponics, but hydroponics where you will need a nutrient solution to feed the plant instead of fish waste
