Just hard to believe this was the same guy that drew Uncanny X-men 275.

Yeah, I’ve seen so much lackluster Jim in the last year this genuinely seems like an improvement. I regularly forget he can actually be kind of mind-blowing, if Whilce is helping with the breakdowns.

Jim actually put backgrounds in here so that already puts this above Liefelds Captain America.

Having a writer puts this above Rob's Captain America. Even Brandon Choi.

Great vid! Interesting to see Lee doing FF. Doesn't look amazing, but not too bad either. Maybe he got use to not having a hard deadline, so when he did on this, his work suffered from the pace that he had to work at.

He's doing all right, like better than I expected. I think the more impressive feat is that the editors actually got 40 or so pages out of him. That must have cost a fortune.

This One I liked. At least the Artwork back in the DAys. I wish I could have bought more of this Heroes Re-BORN! ^^

It's a different version, for sure. While I don't mind it, it feels weird having Jim on something as wholesome as the FF.

That's different (johnny storm running a casino) but I could see him telling the team he wanted to run a casio one day if they ever got real money (they'd tell him he may own it but not run it) and if he ever did - when he gets it I'm sure he owns it and lets others do the managing while he tells others he runs it, and when the team corrects him he tells them its the same thing (may happen multiple times in a story and atleast once he'd fly away in annoyance) ... The layouts are different from the little I have seen from Jim Lees work. Does anyone think he got suggestions (sure he didn't need help) on the layouts since they are so different?!...

Well this is a slightly different reality, where the Storms are the money behind the shuttle launch, so Johnny comes across a bit more like a spoiled nepobaby. Which works for his general personality, but would be a problem in a team book. I imagine they’ll just forget about it going forward.
Regarding the layouts… it’s hard to say, Gen13 is turning into a blockbuster, so he may just be looking at that for examples. I don’t get the impression he’s getting anybody to do layouts for him (I think he’d at least give a studio credit), but it’s such a departure from his usual stuff I have to be a little suspicious.

Iron man was in my opinion the best of the bunch by a mile and I thought issue 1 looked terrific

I think Whilce's books always look terriffic, but that first issue's tough to get through, there's a lot of exposition.

You bring up j scott campbell, he was big influenced by Art Adams, so its not surprising in turn you see a bit of Art if you think Jim is riffing on J Scott.
I never liked Heroes Reborn. Any of it. No big creative vision, I can go pick up a reprint of F4#1 by Lee/Kirby and see this story done much better. Its like, will I watch that live action Disney remake or Alladin or the original animated... well, duh, the original animated, not the rehash.

I did have that thought, that because of the shared Art Adams lineage some similar traits might become more pronounced. Great minds, bud.
And yeah, I never read any of this when it came out. I think I remember seeing this in the shops and sneering- but honestly it's fine. `It's not great, but it probably beats any of the Wildcats issues by him and Brandon Choi. Which is so damning now that I've thought that, holy crap.
