Thanks man. I felt comfortable hence no point slowing down too much. I rather have buffer than having to push at the end. And i was hoping 2:55. If you view my London Marathon 6 days later i encouraged my mate to go faster in the start. He maintained this pace and broke his pb my 11mins and also beat my pb also. Ofcourse of I had recovered from boston in sure i would have PB myself. Thanks for the encouragement 👊
@@Fizz_Runner Wow...that's an interesting philosophy. If you are reaching PB's with this method it's obvious that it does work. I'll definitely keep it in mind and give it a try on one of my upcoming races this year!
@@TheBsheep well I haven't tried the other way and of you feel the wall at 35km regardless, you better have buffer zone if you want a target time. Then again maybe running slower would give later strength. My mate 35-40km as equal second fastest 5k. And he had never run this fast before. For me maybe i need to fuel better during the race. Im not the best at this
@@Fizz_Runner Ok I see and I agree with you with needing a buffer zone regardless. Perhaps your mate holds back too much at the beginning of his 5k and should be training at a faster pace? I think your method can be very effective for a 5k or maybe even a 10k but I worry about a half and marathon distances. On a hot day or tough course, you can burn out pretty quickly and yes fueling plays a big part pertaining to energy during races.
@@TheBsheep for boston i fuelled rather well. I felt good except my quads really felt it due to lack of hill training. I dont think I would run it any differently. So back to my mate on London... His PB prior was 3:07. He wanted to run even splits for sub 3. I encouraged him to pass the 3 hour paces. And he were running 3:10 pace. He planned 3:13 pace etc for 1:29 half... Which I did in London. Except my legs could not finish for sub 3 with sprained ankle and only 6 days since Boston. He has full taper and did a 2:55:57. My PB 2:56:35 at present. So he went out faster than he ever had, took has asthma inhalers(suspect!! Lol) and smashed it. So proud he did sub 3. So in terms of going out at a comfortable pace faster then goal pace is fine. Just as long as you feel comfortable and not over cooking it. Race day is different from the vibe and also you are fresher from tapering. Cant wait for Chicago😊
@Fizz_Runner ah interesting. I thought it would be some sort of energy recovery thingy 😆. I'm still struggling with 5k tbh haha. One day I do hope to do a half marathon. I subscribed to your channel because I was looking at mile end park runs on youtube and I recognised you from park run a month ago :)
Man, if you'd have kept quiet and focused on the first 10K of the race you wouldn't have ended up on a wheelchair at the end. What an unnecessary waste of energy, my god.
@@messinat10n yeah maybe. I have to review how i ran my PB. I think i was as crazy yet no wheelchair needed. I'm only a first time Boston runner. Let me know if you have done it and how you rate it from other marathons. Way way harder then London and Paris. Except London in 6 days was dreadful as I had not fully recovered from Boston. I will certainly have to practice down hills more. That is my weakness. I'm actually faster up hill than down
Great job 🎉
Cheers mate. You are up next. All the best for your race
Hiyaaa im a new subscriber! I really loved your energy ❤ 😃😁
Thx Mark. It is great when people respond back. Keeps things fun hey. When i do parkruns they know I'm there before they see me lol
nice work!!
Cheers mate. You are mighty strong
@@Fizz_Runner thank you, need to be fast like you lol
Hey we all have your strengths and weaknesses. Marathon running is simply training 80%
Well done Nathan!
Cheers. Yeah can certainly pat myself on the back for this one 😊
Bro you started off extremely fast lol! Great job though!! Congrats!!

Wow congrats that timing is insane considering your injury and running Boston wow. Whats your strava so that i can follow you there?
Hey thx David. It is Nathan Oh. Im taking time off atm.... 😁. Shall crank up training june
Whats the tonic water good for?
Hey, is just something to avoid alcohol etc etc. Enjoyed tonic water and sparkling water also. Thx for watching. Have you a marathon anytime soon?
