  • If there is a Hawg Hell for the A-10A, it probably looks like this. A little sample of our Balloon Goes Up project.

Awesome! I have been learning the A-10A lately. I've been in DCS for like 5 months now, and I am loving it so much. Thanks to you and many others on youtube it has been way more accessible than I originally feared, and the journey has been so gratifying.

I love these analysis videos even if it doesn't always show the airplane drivers in their best light. Pass along my thanks to them because no one likes their mistakes published on RUclips but it is extremely valuable to learn from them. Also, I love these missions where its not a shooting gallery and the aircraft are up against a realistic threat and YOLO tactics lead to predictably dismal results.
Now, a few questions: Have you determined how far back from the first element the second element with Mavericks should be to provide adequate support? I imagine too close and there isn't time to get a Maverick off and too far means you can't warn the leading element or identify the enemy shooters.
Does the first element have a reasonable chance of getting weapons off or are they realistically only there to provide recon and flush out the AD ?
Does the third element add much to the overall SA ? The second element is watching for enemy air resistance and is ready to suppress / destroy. Does the third element enhance the team in a meaninful way or could they be used in a different capacity?
Okay, I should probably be saying all this in your Discord chat... Thanks for the video! o7

First of all, thanks for the considered response. Second of all, let me say I only have the utmost respect for the guys that flew the mission. No one made any real "mistakes", sometimes we used the wrong tactics, sometimes we just applied them "sub-optimally".
Essentially we are still looking for answers to all of the very good questions you pose. But I am enjoying figuring it out!

No one likes their mistakes in full light, that's true, but in order to learn (better) we need to realize what they are, sometimes it also means making them, and discussing it in public or at least in company of other like minded individuals... Hi, I'm Hammer-3 in the video and yes, I messed up that first attack. Realized it during messing it up AND STILL MESSED IT UP! 😅

@@tomaszwota1465 LOL, Something something about "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face..." That's the value of training and working on the small fundamentals. When the bullets fly, and the stress meter goes up, everyone resorts to muscle memory and past experience. Building muscle memory and experience is exactly why we train. And I say this for the general RUclips audience, not to you directly. I know you are fully aware of the value of training :D Thank you for being the guinea pig in this adventure.
