Burn burn burn pause, with your designed bait, got me in to tenth place on amateur side at Havasu‘s Won Bass Open this year, on the second day of the event. I could have probably won the Tournament but my last day partner had no water, and we were blind because his maps didn’t work. We were still able to crank up two nice fish that kept me in check range. The second day of the tournament, was magical, I put four fish in the boat within an hour and a half, and my pro put two in the boat. I was able to cull one in the last few minutes of the tournament. We had no fish in the boat before that and got it all done in an hour and a half. My 7“ Daiwa Tattula was overpowered by my high speed Corrado. I had to drop down in gear ratio to get it done. I believe I needed a longer heavier crank rod to handle the higher speed reels. Thank you Matt, and Tim for designing these baits. Great video.
One thing you have taught me over the years, is when I look at the title of a video and assume it's not in my wheelhouse or my style of fishing. Once I watch it, you have still taught me something new. Appreciated greatly, great video, tutorial. Don't stop
Thank you, Matt; I'm looking forward to watching this one later. Good luck to anyone heading out to have a go at the bass today. I hope you all have a great Friday and a relaxing weekend!
I'm horrible at this. Dying to get time to practice. Im literally going to speak out loud when I do it “Burn..burn..burn PAUSE..Burn.. burn.. burn..pause!”💪
Matt- just want to say thank you for taking my fishing to the next level. Watched your fall video on smaller baits after a week of being skunked, went out with small baits and started catching consistently again. 🎣
How convenient… just order a DD crank in the norther special color last night lol. Tactical DD crank is responsible for my 6.11 PB November 25th 41° water.
Great knowledge matt I was using your guys bait in the delta yesterday did well on stripers I was singing burn burn pause even had a sway in the hips, long live TB
Insane timing. I threw on a tactical DD 75 yesterday when I was having a hard time getting bites shallow moved out deep with in a few casts burning and pausing that DD 75 I was on ! 🔥
As always you guys are simply awesome. I’m tweaking my Shimano K with 12lb FC and the Bantam with 20lb braid to 12FC leader. Love the crank crank crank pause with emphasis on dead stop pause. Shasta Lake in 2 weeks speed cranking.
Inadvertently did this with a jerkbait. Was just bringing the bait (vision 110+) to proper depth very quickly and Bang. 6.5 pounder. Love the show. Peace out be safe
Last winter, I had a DD crank bait stuck so far back in the fishes mouth. I had to take my winter gloves off to get it out lol it works.🐟🐟🐟 eight pounder in the boat
I’ll have to give it a try this weekend on the river. My fish have moved to their winter holes and I know where they are. Should be interesting. Thanks for the idea!
Spooled up three reels with the Sunline Shooter Invisible last February. Yip, it STILL has no memory, and has held it’s beautiful green/brown/grey color almost perfectly. I agree it is incredible lasting line!
Thank you for this. Going out for my last time this Sunday before we hit our ice season. Been wanting to try speed cranking for a while in the late fall.
Thank You Matt... Been Speed Crankin ur Tactical ever since ur first speed crankin video ! Works awsome ! I also have done well with the Yo Zuri Hardcore Shad in the 75 size. Just a thought. Again, Thank you for all the Great Videos over the years. Robert Bently George
Up here in the north you can catch them even colder than 37 speed cranking. There has been multiple times where most of the lake was already frozen and the lake was literally freezing around my boat and I could still catch them speed cranking. When it’s that cold it’s one of the only things you can actually catch them on.
My Shimano reels SLX 150 XG works great with my DD 75 crank baits Now I have a new Curado, DC 200 XG. It’s sweet!!!!!!! Plan to catch a 10 pounder on it this fall and winter 🐟🐟🐟🐟😎 boat parts lake …. Georgia 😎
You guys ever try those KVD Triple Grip short shanks? I’ve been throwing them on my cranks lately. Can size up a little bit with that short shank, super sticky, decently priced. Been pretty impressed with them. 😊
I had a similar bite going on with the jackall deracoup 1/2 Oz. 3 or 4 hard turns of the reel, with a quick pause. The fish knocked the crap out of it on the pause.
You forgot to say how well it works in warm water as well I only throw conventional do to snook so the only way I new was burn burn burn pause wammmmm it works good stuff buds 😎🔥💨💨💨
Great video (as usual) and I just wanted to add to the round bend hook points convo... I have found that sickle point hooks (inward bend) that with mini tube jig fishing that because they often slap at it like you mention that I will miss MANY strikes... but when I can finally hook one on the sickle hooks that the hook STAYS in and even often times I need pliers to get the hook out... I'd suggest these hooks for fishing applications where you NEED the hook to stay in and not pop out and the fish are not slapping at your bait... other than that I stay far away from these kinds of hooks.
Hey Matt!! I've never heard you mention a flicker shad, and seems to me it would work perfectly for this technique, let me know if you've tried it,and if it's successful for you thanks. Keep up the good work.
I use the megabass flap slap diving. I wanted to speed crank but my water isn't over 10 ft so I needed a 7-8 ft bait. I've caught 7 pounders in less than 2 feet of water jerking it but it gets down to 8 ft and has a fast rise so it backs out of cover really good.
I fish shallow. Maybe 5ft at the deepest. Could I use a lipless crank bait for this technique? I picked up a few flat sided crank baits. I love them so far. Thanks for the videos.
Matt, great video. I’m going to pickwick next weekend and it will probably be a good time to try this technique. I don’t have any of these deep river and plan to pick a couple up but I do have a spro little John DD. The over sized crank that gets down to around 20’. Any experience with that one for deep speed cranking??
Thanks Matt, with the braid setup, how long should my leader be for this technique. For my confidence. Also the video with your dad was special, brought me way back. Thanks
No fishing for me, but that's OK. It was 23° yesterday and 26° today. Thanks so much for showing some blue gil lures in your swim bait video. Now that I'm a little farther North, I'll need them when I'm able to fish from shore.
Hey Matt: Great info as always. I’m just curious other than ice out can the water temps get cold enough where fish get so inactive it’s not worth going out and fishing? PS I think a great video for you guys to do,is time and place when balsa baits are the most effective and what baits and gear you guys use for them. Thanks…🎣😎🐝
You’re being a little modest on when to crank your DD75. Middle spring I was speed cranking bridge piers and wearing them out for over 2 hours. 4to 1 Lbs. over 40 bites this spring. All suspended rotating to different piers every 15 -20’minutes. My arms were ready to fall off, but lots of fun.
Hi matt I love watching your videos, tactical bassin is a great channel. Unfortunately in england we dont have bass, do you think these tips would work for northern pike/muskie and european or yellow perch. Randy blaukat seems to think that all predators (underwater) have the same responses, id be really interested in your thoughts on that. A good angler in england has mentioned that european perch have similiar feeding habits to smallmouth bass. Do you think there is much difference between largemouth and smallmouth(would you use different tactics to target the two species), also would speed cranking work for smallmouth and also your yellow perch. Thanks in advance if you do respond, take care and tightlines greetings from england 👍

Your videos are awesome. You would have twice as many listeners if your videos were shorter, and you do repeat yourself a lot. Just some constructive feedback coming from someone that doesn’t have much free time.
So to catch bass speed cranking, we have to order a handful of Megabass cranks because those are the only ones that will work. That what you’re saying? I get it they are the best, but the ONLY? Come on man.
