    After reading through the comments below (and yes I am aware that the last comment made was 2 weeks ago) I have to say that I would never make a comment to anyone here. You all should read these comments when you are not upset or flying off the handle. The things ppl say to one another have to be some of the worse name calling and abusive words I have ever read on any video I have watched. This is an amazing piece of equipment that obviously is needed by many bc they just celebrated 20 years in the US and their headquarters in Vieremä since 1970. I am just an average citizen that lives in a wood house, with a wood fence and a fireplace that burns, yet again, wood. I am not for clearing all the forests but there is a demand for wood and these ppl want a great machine to help their businesses. Everyone needs to chill out with the name calling bc I am sure you are all intelligent people that just got hot under the collar. Be kind to one another and be happy bc life is just too short.

    Have you known that a cultivatet Forest saves more Co² from the Atmosphere then an unculitvatet? (Becouse trees growing faster if more light comes to these.)
    What would you do instead?
    Building a lot of Houses out of Plastic? Or writing on Plastic-Paper? Or heating with oil? Oh jeah, Mother Nature will love that for sure!
    I bet, 90% of all Forests in Europe will be sustainably managed. (I cannot speak for USA or whatever, because i don't live there).

      A crowded forest is an unhealthy forest. Timber is a renewable and sustainable resource, especially with harvesters like these. The environmental impact is minimal and you can be EXTREMELY selective. This is FAR from the "clear cutting" practices of the past. And emissions? All you need is this harvester, a forwarder and the trucks to take the product to the mill. In, out, easy peasy.

    With this baby, it takes only 40 seconds for one man to fell, limb and cut the tree to length. Compare that to 3 guys with chain saws. That is absolutely amazing. Kudos to whomever came up with this design. But it still takes a lot of maintenance. That saw blade and bar can't last very long before it has to be changed so it's really two guys working here.

    • @killstrees
      @killstrees 3 года назад

      Depending on the outfit it could be two or more guys, but its often just one guy responsible for operation and maintenance. Major repairs usually require more people. Bar and chain life depends heavily on operator skill to make them last. Some guys can run a bar and chain for days on end while others can't seem to make an hour without running it into the dirt lol

Beyond that, you start hitting the tree-line, and the arctic tundra becomes dominant, mainly birch bush with no commercial value whatsoever. Except recreational obviously, because it is beautiful up there and you can actually see something, due to the absence of forest. Why do we bother? In Sweden where I live you are forced by law to replant the forests you cut down. ( guess that is the case for more European countries as well...) And for the haters, cutting down trees and replanting actually creates more oxygen since young growing trees produce more oxygen than old trees that barely grows any more

    • @cliffhanger6794

      Sweden also doesn’t have mr.beast to replant 20 million trees either lol

      That's actually a myth since old growth forest store much more oxygen. But I guess humans only care for money so they have to find myths to make people believe things that arn't true.
