Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 Does anybody in the Philippines that cannot sing so beautiful......................Madrigals are the best
Wow! The only choir who sings with pure emotions and mastery of the techniques. I love Philippine Madrigal Singers 😍😍😍 It's not about winning the EGP bcoz in the hearts of Filipinos Madz will always be the champion. Congratulations Philippine Madrigal Singers for lifting our Flag and pride! 😇😇😇
🇵🇭 AS ALWAYS, WE ARE VERY PROUD 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼OF YOU! YOU ARE SIMPLY THE BEST IN THE 👏👏WORLD... I AM A MEMBER OF THE PHILIPPINE MALE CHORALE UNDER PROFESSOR EMMANUEL LAUREOLA, FORMER MEMBER OF THE PHILIPPINE MADRIGAL SINGERS UNDER THE LATE ANDREA VENERACION. GOD BLESS US ALL!🇵🇭
WOW ... the last song is absolutely beautiful and powerful ... you can feel the energy, voice-control, emotions in all the songs of MADZ ... if people are allowed to applause after each song ... the room will filled with ecstacy .. GRABE sa GALING!
The MADZ's Rolls- Royce automobile temporarily hit a hump in its continuing journey of musical excellence, honor and greatness for the Philippines and for the world. The result of the EGP 2017 in Tolosa, Spain may not be the outcome that we want and what we expected. Even the great suffers temporary setbacks in rare times. It is how one transcends the defeats, the hurdles and challenges of life which shows one's character and illustrates one's greatness. I'm sure that the MADZ's will overcome this transient setback. On the horizon, at the earliest is the EGP 2019 or EGP 2020, to vie for again (after winning one of the six-city members international choral competitions.) I am very optimistic that the MADZ will be the first choir in the world to win the EGP not just thrice but six times. Congratulations to the MADZ for a job well-done. Mabuhay!
This year, two Filipino choirs, a historical first, will vie for the EGP and hopefully bring home the highest choral acclaim in the world. Madz has gloriously paved the way and opened the doors for others. We are grateful!
This performance was exceptional, and what I can see at the beginning, there was a feeling uncertainty on the execution, how ever they were still extremely exceptional. I only noticed background noises from the audience unlike the previous EGP the audience were highly respectful of the performance or the ongoing competition, not making unnecessary noise. Sagayan was one of the best if not the best contest pieces they've chosen for the EGP.
This is such an incredibly well-executed performance. I find it virtually unbelievable that they would not clinch the championship with it. I really would want to see the winning choir's performance as this is so good that it's hard to imagine how they would have lost the competition to any other competitor. Unless if the jury had cooked the competition to disadvantage the Philippine Madrigal Singers, this performance is impossible to top. I don't think Filipinos should simply roll over and play dead on the injustice of the results. Please post the video of the winning choir so it can be subjected to public scrutiny and judgement. Filipinos should learn to fight for their national pride!
I don't think so if you will compare their performance when they won the Grand Prix along time ago, it's different. I think the judges expect more, unfortunately...they just performed...
MADZ has done so much to elevate chorale singing worldwide. Vesna may have been said to be cleaner, but the slight misses of MADZ were not enough to overthrow what additional points should have been given for the difficulty level of their choices, in my opinion. In some sports, like gymnastics, difficulty is accounted for.
If that is not a champion's performance, i dont know what is (for the judges at least). Very well done, you may not have won this time but you have nothing else to prove. You are always our winner. Performance of a lifetime!
maybe the soprano in the near end part where the high note is, soprano sticks out and partially does not blend with the choir in Lux Aeterna, compared to when they sang it in Bicol. both chorale group showed compactness of each notes. I listened to both choir presentations and Vesna has louder performance. Im not a fan of Vesna, and i am a Filipino. Lets just respect the decision of judges.
It's more difficult to sing while sitting. This shows that they are on the next level as compared to their competitors. Vessna was more captivating though.
Nagpractice ka ng nakaupo, nagperform ka ng nakaupo. Walang nagbago, sanay ka na sa ganun. Ang malaki ang pagbabago, nagpractice ka ng nakaupo, nagperform ka ng nakatayo. So alin ang mas mahirap?
Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Ut requiescant in pacem. Amen Eternal rest grant on to them o Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen
May i Know the title of the last song? It gave me chills down my spine.a very haunting sound if it was meant to do that. Sounded like a war song or something. Bravo Madz!🎉
Feel ko Flat yun Lux Aeterna, Kasi dun sa Arezzo Version nila Lahat ang taas ng kuha eh parang ang baba ata dito sa EGP. Feel ko parang nahirapan sila sa Pagtaas sa Ending.
it is sung on a different Key, lower than usual. mali ata pasok ng Bases kaya everyone has to adjust their pitch. Mahirap mag-adjust ng key agad-agad and Madz showed their skills kasi they stayed "in tune" despite the song being sung in a different key.
The traditional kulintang music Tagonggo that opens this ceremony, is originally not intended to be played in concerts. It is actual ritual music used in 1) healing rituals, 2) driving away negative energy/spirits, and 3) at a pre-war ceremony to invoke invincibility and power. The playing of Tagonggo pre-dates Islamic Maguindanao and nowadays has interestingly evolved into music that signifies important festive events, like wedding ceremonies. Sagayan, the title of the choral work, focuses on the pre-battle aspect of the ritual and is also the traditional name of the dance ritual that is accompanied by Tagonggo (from the composer's site www.niloalcala.com/updates)
May I know from the owner of this video what he thought of the performance of the madz, the other competitors; I believe he competed with the Madz back in 2007. Sir what do you think why Madz failed to win this time? Iam inclined to believe politics has something to do with the outcome. Anyway this is THE European Grand Prix. An Asian choir winning an unprecedented 3 times would somehow make European choir aficionados a bit uncomfortable. But to be fair Vesna’s repertoire is technically varied, just a tad better than the Madz’. I would love to hear what the owner of this video thought of the 2017 egp. TIA
I try to be fair and objective. Madz and Vesna are my top two candidates to win 2017 EGP. Both choir presented the best vocal, techniques, dynamics and interpretation to the their song choice. Both are amazing and impressive. Considering Vesna only a Children Choir but is able to sound such clarity. Considering Madz is very full of effect and artistry. But if we hear it again thoroughly, Vesna slightly has better accuracy and clearer sound. Plus, if we add politics, Madz had it twice, Vesna once. No choir won it thrice. The judges are from another great choir may keep the competition fierce.. So the idea of Vesna avenge their lost to Madz in 2007 is quite make sense, haha. so don't be sad my friend... Let's hope in the following years this great choirs compete again and give us great show. Go Madz. Go Vesna. I love both. Both are winner.
zprwn We'll if their point is about age and experience, is it even fair when in the first place this is a GRAND PRIX "GRAND" and madz sang more complicated arrangements, by saying clearer and better accuracy do you mean loudness and more simple arrangements?
zprwn Only real musicians ear can appreciate great music without the need for too much sound volume but how choir members blend with each other according to their voice quality
My friend @lunarF8, I didn't mean this is about loudness and simple arrangements. I believe that the judges are real musicians. They must've included every aspects in their judgement to choose the winner. In hi-level singing like this EGP, every choir has great reputation of consistent performance. It's not about blending anymore, because blending is a must. Between the best, only a little flaw or a little difference is matter. And not everybody can hear/see the difference. I think Vesna's Intonation is clearer, and they executed their songs more accurate. Maybe this factor is decisive.
Lol I hope you've watched their full performances live or even in the videos so here's a link for your reference. Tell me which part they did better intonation or accuracy without sacrificing quality over quantity: ruclips.net/video/mCs_4Py2968/видео.html
Teacher John. Sad to say pero yes po parang nagfall cla dun ng sobra kung icocompare mo sa isang version nila nung previous contest but still nice interpretation pa rin. Very moving and heavenly pa rin.
REAL WINNER OF EGP 2017 FOR ME🇵🇭PHILIPPINES🎉

Baka mas prefer ang mga judges ang mga mas batang choir members. Mukhang mama at ale na kasi ang karamihan sa member ng Madz😅
Yes!!! Been waiting for this
same!

Why is a phone ringing during the competition? That ruined "Let my love be Heard"

What does Sagayan song tell about?

Lakas ng ringtone sa 15:19 ahh. 🤦♂️
Parang nasa tiempo nga eh kala ko nga nung una may hidden accompaniment. Heheh
the first song on the very last part, the sopranks are falling into almost flat.. i think
While it may be technically superb, it's overwhelming.
Pinagbigyan lng yung Vesna n manalo ngayon..kalaban at natalo pala nila din nun yun nung 2007EGP. Well congrats parin Madz
EGP may refer to Egyptian pound, currency of Egypt.
11:00
DID THEY WIN THE COMPETITION???
Nope
Where is bianca lopez?

A source from Tolosa told me that the European Judges were all praises for the Madz. I dont get it. Perhaps due to some amount of guilt
Agree!
Nil;)
The Madz were stolen of a Grand Prix :( This is so Frustrating!
Sck
Lux Aeterna’s flat from the start to finish especially the sopranos...
You need to see an audiologist.
NOW I JUST CANT UNDERSTAND WHAT ARE THE EGP JUDGES CRITERIA. Can someone pls explain to me?

the sound 18:27 kasama ba yon o parang pumiyok?..ndi kopo alam? parang may nangibabaw na matinis
I think its just their artistic additions--
The Batavia Madrigal Singers did also their variation of it
