We had a glorious clear blue sky, spring-like day here in New Orleans. I have to say that your channel is a bright spot in the world, Gina, and you always bring a bit of joy to my day. Thank you!
Gina, you are so adorable! You are that little cozy corner of booktube that always makes me smile 😊. I’m good, thank you for asking! I have a similar struggle as you with the weather. I live in Texas and I can’t stand the weather down here. I can’t get used to the heat and humidity, summer is the absolute worst for me and I’m always on a very bad mood 😂. It’s insane to think that each person can react so differently to weather and the impact that it has on our mood and productivity. I hope you enjoy your trip to Disneyland. I’ve been there very recently (Thanksgiving) and had a blast! Happy readings!
I love Disneyland over the holidays, it’s so amazing! I usually do one or two trips a year but it’s been a while since I’ve been there when it was all decorated. So magical. I spent some time in Texas - I lived in Midland for 6 months when I was a kid and had family there. I’m not a fan. I need weather in between Texas heat and Seattle drizzle lol.
What a lovely video! You are the sweetest! I’m actually doing really well. After a very hard 2023, this year is starting off much better and I hope it stays that way. And I finally started a Booktube channel which I’ve wanted to do for so long! It went live today so I’m having a very good day. 😊
Hey Gina! I’ve had a difficult start of the year but it’s getting better. I am super grateful though for being happy in my day to day life which has helped me cope with the big life stuff. Home, partner and cat make me smile every day even on the tough ones. I finished Tipping the Velvet and looking forward to talking about it! Currently reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and just started A Suitable Boy as part of Jolene and Lindy’s read along and that’s making me very happy. Getting back into my bookish and booktube life which is wonderful because I’ve missed it!
I'm in the PNW also - was so pleased the sun decided to show up this week. I traded cold winters in New England (the original Portland) for the grey, damp winters in the other Portland. I'm starting to come out of the January funk - thank you sun. Gina, you bring sunshine to the world.
I am just about over a cold and feeling very positive this morning. Thanks for your positive vibes! By the way, I can see a copy of Cranford on the shelves behind you - that is one of my favorite classics. I hope you love it too,
Hi Gina, It is now Monday in Melbourne, Australia and I'm having a lovely wet day today, after a hot day Sunday, a cooler day is relief. I've had a week of not being well, a stomach problem (won't get into that) but finally recovered and feeling like normal. Having fun catching up on all my RUclips faves and books. I'm reading 'Light in Gaza: writings born in fire'; 'Intermittent fasting'; 'The Arctic Railway Assassin' a middle grade novel, which is fun.
We had the same rain and grey for the whole of January Gina but it’s beautiful today, blue skies and cold. Books are such a lovely way of either engaging with the horrible things in the world or escaping from them, it’s up to us! Tipping the Velvet was my first Sarah Waters and I loved it and I’ve heard rumors that she is working in a new book 🤔
Hi Gina! Thanks to you I am reading Miss Buncle’s Book. It’s adorable! I’ve been chuckling the entire way through. Husband and I hanging in watching Dalgliesh tonight, Doc Martin tomorrow. Big goings on here😂
Oh yay! Sounds like a perfect weekend. I'm so glad you're enjoying Miss Buncle! DE Stevenson is just a wonderful author, I love her. Doc Martin is so good!
Hi Gina. I just wanted to mention I got my first Miss Read book, the first Thrush Green book, from the library and am looking forward to reading it. I had never heard of them before your and Kelly's videos. I have some other books to get through first but just wanted to mention that book. Have a good week!
I love spending Friday with you 🤗 Our weather has been typically February- some drizzle some blue sky but not too cold. I’ve been doing some “garden” planning (it’s planters and pots) and also some home refresh stuff that is a nice change of pace!
Here in Albuquerque it is mostly Sunny! Our winter sun is soft and beautiful and is the reason I stay. I came for a 8 month course and that was 30 years ago. Longest 8 months of my life- ha. Just finishing up Village Affairs by Miss Read and The Mostly True Story of Louise & Tanner recommended by one of your comment posters. Love both of these books.
Happy Friday to you too! ☺ I'm the opposite to you I think - I love the cold, dreary weather days. You need to be that way when you live in England 😄Your Disney holiday sounds great - something fun to look forward to! I must try more Sarah Waters.. I've read a few and then never went back for some reason. I'm reading A Friend From England by Anita Brookner at the moment 🙂x
Love this! Thanks for such a lovely video ❤...I have a romanticized idea of the Pacific Northwest...I have always wanted to see it. I live in a place that has warm weather and lots of sun...maybe 2 weeks of winter a year and then it's gone...so when skies are grey and the air is cold I just love to take it in and enjoy. 🩶✨
It really is lovely here, the nice thing about all the rain is it makes it really green. Feb - June ish is the hardest time though because of the constant gray. As long as I get a few long weekends to someplace sunny I’m ok!
Thanks for this video. It's been sunny and warm all week and now it's snowing, so a nice mix of winter. We are so parched. I have never read Affinity nor Tipping the Velvet so I still have a couple of Waters' novels to go. I hope you have a really nice, relaxing weekend.
I finished _War and Peace_ today so that counts for something. 🤔 Haven’t been outside much today so can’t comment on the weather. Thanks for the update and the heads up on those videos. Now I’ve got to find Elmo. 😂
Given all your enthusiasm, I'd like to try a Sarah Waters. I think you know my taste quite well, so which one do you think I should start with, Gina? Thanks for the video suggestions, too.
Thank you for this lovely kind video. I am really hoping today will be as sunny as the weather report predicts. Still cold, though. Sarah Waters confused me at first because of how different her books are. At first I wondered if there were two different authors named Sarah Waters…
Hi Gina, I am on a Southern California visit to see my family right now. Getting some sun has been such a treat, especially after Oregon's recent ice storm a couple of weeks ago. We were iced in for a week! I've been hiking, getting some color back, and enjoying the longer days. I fly back today. I often feel quite disoriented when I get home. Instead of jet lag, it's climate lag. I do plan to try Sarah Waters this year. Which book of hers is the least scary? Thanks, Valerie
Climate lag - that’s a perfect description! I feel that way when I step out of the airport too. Wasn’t that weather bonkers?! We had a cold snap too, but not nearly as horrible as you got it.
Hi Gina, 🙂 yes, I heard/saw the clip of Elmo. Not on twitter( don't do), but on a blip on the local news!! I've had a chaotic, exhausting 2 wks. having my apt. packed up (workers) due to remodeling the entire bldg. A yr. long project starting w/ the top floor, my floor. It will be SO MUCH nicer when finished, but to get to that point...ugh! Long story. I move out to a hotel for 5 days this coming Monday. I intend to just sleep and READ. My reading of Winter Solstice has gotten soooo chopped up due to this situation. Topsy turvy and chaotic! I love your channel is truly is ALWAYS a happy spot and a bright spot to me to see your smiling face come on . I always enjoy the content. It is similar weather here about 30 min. S.E. of Detroit, yuck! Not from here originally and I hate living here. Can't imagine going from sunny Calif. to the N.W.! Thanks Gina! Hugs!
Omg I got lost in a bad area of Detroit once and it was one of the scariest moments in my life. I stopped at a gas station for directions and the attendant behind bars and bullet proof glass was like “get back in your car right now”! I hope you enjoy your staycation next week.
Reading and talking about books makes us all happy amid heartbreaking events 😊. Its a grey morning here in Malaysia but I too love my house, family, pets and my life❤. Recently bought an Elise Kova fantasy romance called A deal with the Elf King😅, will be getting to it shortly.
It's cold and rainy in So Cal Gina. I five stared The Dean's Watch by Elizabeth Goudge And have started A Castle in the Clouds. Another recommendation from Amy.
Hi there. I just wanted to tell you about my very favorite book that I've read over and over and always recommend to people. It's Seventeenth Summer by Maureen Daly - also my very favorite movie which is "Love With the Proper Stranger" with Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen. Just wanted to send those suggestions your way. Have a nice day.
I’m with you on the gloomy weather, I live in Connecticut and probably 90% of days are totally overcast. But I’m reading A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicoll and absolutely loving it! I’m not sure if you’ve heard of it but the main character is autistic and finds out 50 women were tried as witches in her hometown and fights for a memorial. Being neurodivergent myself, it’s both heartbreaking and so validating.
Hi, Gina. I'm well. Just finished a batter of life and death,by Ellie Alexander. A cute cozy mystery. By the way,my birthday is next week Thursday, the 8th
Awww! That’s so kind of you to check in with us. 🥹♥️🌿I loooove that you recommend all these videos! I’ve wanted to share videos that have cheered me, too! What a wonderful idea, Gina!

Wow, Gina. Just watched Steve's channel, and what fun that was. I felt like I was back at the university again. I subscribed....

Glad you’re feeling better. 🌼

It’s really good. Some drama just kicked in!
What a delightful Friday video. You really lifted my mood. 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks Renee!
Hope you have a wonderful Disneyland trip 🎉🎉
I am also reading Tipping the Velvet and loving the writing style especially ❤
Probably my favourite book of January
Her writing is so good.
