14:08 Hal Douglas on the voice-over for Mount Airy Lodge. He was one of the all-time great movie trailer voices. Hal Douglas was also a promo voice for A&E back in the day.
This particular video has some terrific local/regional ads. The South Shore Inn ad is something else! Are there any other commercial comps someone can point me towards that also contain a decent amount of local/regional/low budget ads?
It was an independent station like WGN, and the official station for Mets baseball. Unlike WGN, though, it was probably third place indy station out of 3, behind Metromedia 5 WNEW (now a Fox affiliate) and WPIX 11 (a WB-> CW station now), which in fact was a Tribune station like WGN.
WOR like WGN and TBS was a superstition, they would have broadcast repeater signals all over the country, so if you had a good antenna or satellite dish you could get them for free. We had a roof antenna that looked like a small Eiffel Tower and we got TBS and WGN in the Bronx in the 70's.
I've done that with regular spaghetti sauce as a kid. It's not too bad. This was back before they had bagel bites, etc so we had to come up with something quick lol

Same! I loves through it. And I remember.
9:25 little known factoid...Chucky is currently serving a life sentence in Michigan for murdering his entire family in 1998
With Phil Tonken manning the announcing booth.
Back when WOR was situated in The Big Apple rather than Secaucus...
and didnt suck like it does today
Thanks! I noticed a lot more NYC and LI themed ads here than I remembered 9 having. I was about to ask about that.
2:26- That production music was used years later in a commercial for a local pet store:

Sounds familiar... was WOR back then similar to Chicago's WGN?
