#Lockdown23and1 a mother and little baby… 💨 let the smoke show begin. It’s unfortunate that a young kid, has literally ruined and taken so much and so many lives. His own life is ruined from being stupid, maybe schools should be teaching a mini driving course RE: drugs alcohol and reckless driving and some tough videos to watch of what could happen. (Not actual driving lessons)

@@jadfaris4119I had a friend that got life at 16. He killed his step-dad. It would've been justified self defense but after the first strike which took him down (making him no longer a threat) he continued... over and over and over... which lead to his death. It WAS gruesome for sure. I'm leaving out the method cause YT doesn't like it.
He paroled out in his early 20s. He got caught with some weed in his house about 5 years later. The DA was seeking the full sentence. They also were alleging that the amount he had (one ounce) meant that he was distributing and they were seeking the maximum on that. The night before sentencing he decided to "go home." 😢

My knee jerk reaction when he said he almost considered the boy to be a youthful offender is that if you’re a driver of a vehicle you shouldn’t have that luxury of a reduction in sentence. To me if you’re old enough to drive you need to be held accountable for your actions.

Yet they give a license to drive to kids of 16 with hormones raging and the brain isn’t even fully developed yet. Real critical thinking skills develop about 20-21 years old. The age to drive should be made older than 16. It’s crazy to have kids out operating vehicles. I know the stupid stuff I was doing at that age.

Long ago I was manager of a gas station / store. Late one night, 1-2am, a car driver ran the red light and killed a man and woman in their 20s on his motorcycle. Months later I had to go to traffic court myself for a minor ticket. The case in front of me was for sentencing of what turned out to be the car driver that killed the couple that night. The driver was 16 years old, driving on a PERMIT, (no license yet), way past curfew, with NO licensed adult in the car! TOTALLY ILLEGAL! The victim’s families were in the court of course. The judge was very upset with the sentencing laws he had to go by. The driver could only be sentenced to juvenile detention until he turns 21, with 10 years suspended license. That’s it! As the victim’s families cried and the men hollered. The judge apologizing and offering condolences was all he could do. This was in IL in the 1990s. The victim’s families only other recourse was the wrongful death lawsuits against the parents of the driver.

Hopefully you were not stupid enough to buy him a 460 h.p..Mustang GT for his birthday. This guy's (Cameron Herrin) parents cannot be charged, but they played a huge role in that woman and her baby's death. Bad enough that they bought an overpowered car like that for an 18 year-old, but they didn't even have the common sense to monitor his driving. Just a couple of days before this accident, he was driving 162 m.p.h.. This is trackable either through the vehicle itself (which is how the investigators found about the 162 m.p.h. driving) or through apps like '360'.

Smart mother. My Dad was a country doctor and he had a way of impressing on me and my sister , the fragility of life. Before we had ambulance service, doctors would rotate for emergency duty in the evenings or on weekends. My Dad would make us go with him and watch. When i was older, I even drove him. I saw all sorts of horrific accidents including a train wreck where two frieght trains hit head on killing one of the engineers who jumped from the cab. In 60 years of driving I have had two tickets and one accident withoug injury in a sudden fog that caused 360 accidents that morning. I remember in high school the State Police came to school and the drivers ed class and showed a ovie called "Mechanized Death" showing photos of accidents in which people were injured and killed. The trooper noticed that while other people either looked shocked to see the photos and some girls were actually crying, I was sitting calmly in my seat with my arms crossed. The trooper looked at me and said " This movie doesn'r seem to have an effect on you Bub, why IS that? Think it can't happen to you." " No sir, my Dad's a doctor, I go with on calls like that, and I've seen it and smelled it LIVE. I know very well that it can happen to me"' He didn't know how to answer that.

@West Coast Warlord998 you are quick to judge, this is a very unfortunate combination of bad circumstances.
Was he speeding? Yes! Could this accident been avoided? Probably! This was a time bomb in so many levels, the exact place where the accident happened had no crosswalk, no stoplight.
They should've never put the pedal to the metal, but this road was not safe for walkers either. The city also failed to make sure there were enough traffic signs to ensure the safety of pedestrians.
At 18 you are still a very immature individual with a higher degree of social and legal responsibility. Are schools preparing kids for this? Is your local education system providing the tools to make sure new adults understand the consequences of their actions?
There are so many failures I could point out and you are focusing your energy towards 1/8 of the problem.
I don't know Cameron, I've never heard of his name until just a couple of weeks, but I emphatize with his family, they are doing time as well and every side of the one's involved are dealing with something they shouldn't.
Cameron is not a bad person, it was a terrible mistake. There is a huge difference between someone who wants to hurt somebody and someone who never had the intentions to do any harm.
Emphaty is all it takes, punishment is necessary, but not to the point of ruining a third life to set an example.
This is not the first incident / accident in the area, if you elect competent people for goverment offices, a lot of this could've been avoided, but the media and the government needs to turn all the attention to the kid so you don't have to question your authorities for the very poor job they are doing.

@@themodsify Here we go. One of those "I would never have done that" people. Good for you. Read what I wrote again and let in sank in. I am going to state the obvious for you cause clearly you didn't get the point. WHAT I WROTE DOES NOT ONLY APPLY TO SPEEDING DOWN A PEDESTRIAN STREET. I am speaking about careless things done in general at that age. Actions taken that could have resulted in similar consequences for innocent people and yourself. Some of those things might not have even been illegal just incredibly careless and stupid. Unlike you there are people who can relate including me because looking at the video it hit home for quite a few people because you can tell dude was not some career criminal. Plenty of normal and very successful people did some dumb stuff around that age all be it maybe it was a few seconds and luck that they did not suffer the same consequences (killing innocent people and living with that guilt knowing you destroyed peoples lives and winding up with a similar sentence) and are sitting in prison instead of going forward in life where they are now. This video made those who can relate especially those who are older reflect on some of their past actions and really realize on how lucky they are to have had the opportunity to outgrow and learn from a careless action or two without it having it resulting in what we witnessed in the video. If you can't relate that's fine but the whole "I would have never...." We get it. My first comment wasn't for you then. It is for those who upon watching this video can recall some bad and careless decisions they made when they were his age that could have resulted in a similar situation and realize how lucky they really are especially if you are leading a decent/good life life to have not met the same fate of the people killed, getting killed yourself or winding up in a prison cell.

@@themodsify Then replace it with reckless. You know what the F I meant instead of coming back with that BS. Point still stands. My original comment was for those who can relate to being and or doing something reckless in the past when we were younger and failed to think of the consequences and how this video in particular made us reflect on how lucky we really were to not have wound up in the overall situation that includes; hurting and or killing innocent people and or ourselves, and or winding up in jail (if we did not get ourselves killed that is). If you can't relate so be it good on you. My comment was for those who can and there are plenty of us. The comment wasn't for some idiot to talk about how they would never have done that. Then come back with "there's a difference" You know what the F I meant.

Something is seriously wrong with the justice system in our country that a person in this case gets 24 years but that DUI example I gave got only 5 years for killing a teenager? Nah. Something is definitely wrong here. There’s no fair balance or weight involved there at all.

I remember when I was in high school a guy that was in a grade higher than me was driving with his friends racing someone one day. They was going 100 mph on a 30 mph road and he ended up dying while the others got thrown out he ended up hitting a telephone pole. And that’s something that has stuck with me since. Why I drive normal or encouraging my boyfriend not to be driving reckless.

Edit all you younger people listen to what he's saying at the end, I got some smoke not even a month after I turned 18 for some prescription pills I took from home. Had no idea it would make me spend 16 months in county jail for all the probation bs.

The Mustang was a high school graduation present just days before to an entitled kid. IMO: The fact that Cameron felt they he should be allowed to DRIVE to his friends’ homes between the accident and the trial implied that he didn’t take the accident all that seriously.

Hey man good job on the channel. Your well educated in the court room, as most of us who have been in there on the defendant side are. Just an FYI, in florida when the judge is speaking of a departure from the guidelines, he’s referring to a “downward departure”. in the state of Florida you have certain criteria that if met could qualify you for a downward departure, which allows the judge to depart from the guidlines and sentence however your honor feels fit. Some of the criteria includes things like mental health, Wether you showed remorse etc. This is actually what happened to me which is why I’m serving a 7.5 year split sentence meaning I did 36 months in doc then the rest on community control/ probation. Original offer was 15 years. If you think about it the judge did downward depart because the minimum is 18 years but on each count which would actually mean a 36 year sentence if ran consecutive. Instead the judge downward departed and sentence him to 9 years on 1 count and 15 on the other. Obviously the consecutive sentence screwed him regardless but technically it is a downward departure.
