      RUclips this is ridiculous. I’m commenting on a music video. I know what is happening. When I make comments on political videos. I ONLY respond with VERIFIED facts, AND I am ALWAYS POLITE. Nevertheless, when I win a debate by stating 💯 FACTS, it upsets someone on the other side. So rather than trying to refute my facts, someone REPORTS me for absolutely no other reason than that they did not like that they lost the debate. And so now RUclips keeps deleting me because some 45 supporter doesn’t like what I said. RUclips, YOU NEED TO START HAVING A HUMAN READ WHAT I WRITE, not some AI bot, because I ONLY STATE FACTS. This is outrageous what you’re doing to my comments. STOP DELETING MY POSTS for NO JUSTIFIABLE REASON.

    Richard was a master of production and produced amazing recordings using the technology of the day.
    But live, she could pull it off. The songs were brilliant and suited her voice. She was a talent .
    It is such a drag we lost her so soon.
    But we still have all the recordings and thanks to the internet we can see several performances that were actually live.
    Seeing her sing always stirs up the melancholy.

  • @jbs256
    @jbs256 4 месяца назад +37

    Hi Amber, I’m talking to you, sorry Jay 😉.
    Karen looked fantastic here (blue dress). She was on a strength and health regimen with a trainer. Her mom said she looked fat in this dress. Boom. Next year, 1975, she was in the hospital and almost died. The struggle was real and eventually took her. Her voice never left her as witnessed by the song “Now” her last song in a studio.
    This song was the second of three Billboard Hot 100 #1 songs. They almost didn’t release it as a single. Then Lynn Anderson covered it and had a huge Country hit. Carpenters then re-recorded it and released it as a single.
    I’m sure you have enough Carpenters recommendations to keep you busy. I’m going to recommend a Carpenters cover. Yes a cover. But this recommendation doesn’t come lightly. The full length song has well over 350k views on RUclips and 4M views on IG and more on TT, short promos. The lead singer was one of eight invited performers and the youngest at 20, to sing at the Carpenters 55th Anniversary in April where she met Richard in person. He knew her from last year. So I hope you see this has merit, it’s not just any cover. As Jim says in his song description, “buckle your seatbelt.”
    The song is; We’ve Only Just Begun. I’m pretty sure you’ve reacted to it. So you are familiar. It was created by James Wilkas a few years ago but his lead singer suddenly passed away. There it sat, uncompleted. Then in February, RUclips introduced him to Tori Holub with one of her Carpenters short covers. He knew what to do and reached out to see if she’d like to sing lead. She was flattered and accepted. So in the opinion of this OG Carpenters fan, I bought the Close To You album new at 14 in 1970. I present to you IMHO the best cover EVER of a Carpenters song. An entry for Female Friday, or whenever you see fit.

I’m to the point I hear her voice up front. It’s all my music from my youth. Oh and of course Karen. But I don’t cry anymore that I see so many say. That was then. I lived it and felt the devastation, then. Now is enjoy the past and Tori (and Harriet) is/are the future.

    Such a great voice, left us way too soon. We used to sing this song at our primary school. Our principal loved to sing and music so every day the whole school sang songs at assembly. We also did one of ABBA's songs as well. Hearing this now I feel the Christmas Spirit strange.

    Muskrat Love was Captain & Tennille. Funny you should mention it here, though, the first time I heard it I didn’t know who sang it yet but I described the singer as a Karen Carpenter wannabe. 😆

    You should really look into Rita Coolidge. She had the same pure tone that Karen Carpenter did. She had 2 or 3 big hits like "Your Love has lifted me Higher", "All Time High" and a couple of more during the late 70's and early 80's and won 2 Grammy Awards. Also, she was once married to Kris Kristofferson.

    Backstory to the song, The Carpenters were doing a concert in Nashville and after the concert was over got to talking with some other country musicians that were waiting for a flight out of the airport. The song stated to come together as they were climbing up from take off and looking down in the morning light of a new day.

    I am just surprised any American doesn't know this song. In my country, this song was such a big hit for so long that even now, all kids have this song and Country Roads by John Denver drilled into their heads from the time they are born. They still get extensively played on almost all radio stations (even the non-English ones).

    This is one of the songs that I remember the choir girls on the school bus would sing as practice, plus it was everywhere, radio, jukeboxes, record players, etc. For me, it's that steel guitar with that country music vibe that tops it off.
