Just bought one of these from B&Q for £49 (UK equivalent of Home Depot), no hassle alternative for occasional use, we will never buy frozen pizza again!! sat it on my old BBQ, top job 👍
Have been cooking pizzas for ages and all the videos I see on this little BBQ ovens are so wrong because they never wait the time needed to reach the correct temperature to cook a pizza. Normally pizzas (I mean real ones not frozen or supermarkets precooked crap) need a little cooking time of 2/3 minutes but a very high heat inside the oven of like around 430/450 degrees celsius which with steel ovens is very hard to reach because metal does not retain heat as much as a wood oven made of bricks does, so to be more effective these little bbq ovens should have a lid to be fully closed, when you see the needle at around 450 degrees you put the pizza in then wait 2/3 min and then take it out, it will be perfectly cooked top and bottom IF the temp was 430+ degrees celsius. If you cook a pizza from raw at only 300 degrees celsius like these people in the video do of course it will be undercooked.
If you BBQ gets hot enough it will work fine, you can even use the BBQ plate, if it is clean of fat etc it is better than a pizza stone. The only issue is the heat loss when you open the lid to check the pizza or put the pizza in. The drop in temp while the stone stays hot has the top taking too long and the base burns, so you gotta be quick and use semolina on the peel not plain flour so the pizza slips off easily and this also makes the base is crispier.. I have seen one where a little door was cut int the BBQ lid to solve this issue. The made the cut piece into a door flap so it had best of both worlds. However just making a wedge to hold the lid open just enough to see and get to the pizza is enough.
I have one of these and they are shit. There is never enough temperature on the top of the oven to cook the pizza from top completely. You will have a overcooked base and undercooked top every time. One thing you can do is to cook the base first from one side and then put the topping and let it sit to cook the bottom side. Either way it's not a great gadget.
Terrible pizza oven. There is nowhere near enough heat coming over the top, which is why its so pale and the cheese barely melted while the base is on the verge of being overdone. I have this and used it 3 times and its sat in the garage ever since. Now I have an Ooni pizza oven and it makes this Firebox oven looks like a Fisher Price toy for kids. Review of the Ooni on our channel if you wish to compare.
Donegal Overlanding a friend bought this so I thought I’d check online. You’re quite right. It’s the rolling heat over the top that isn’t sufficient (whilst the base heat is adequate). However the results weren’t dreadful. Totally incomparable with Ooni/Gozney but for the price range I think you could churn out some decent pies. Especially so if you could get the heat flowing better.
Ah I don't have one myself. The new Ooni Koda is much more affordable (insulation and build not as good as the Gozney) I've seen deals less than £200 (at Costco).
Guys, advice please? My husband has just placed this in our electric oven at high heat. I’m assuming this isn’t an appropriate application??? He won’t listen to me, perhaps he will you. The smoke is building as I type….😳😳😳
looks very small... no mention of the dimensions anywhere in the video... seems like a Costco pizza slice is bigger than the whole pizza used in this video.
Best solution for that is to heat the tray in the bbq before putting the dough on it. Prepare the pizza on a pre-heated stone base, then pop it in the bbq oven.
I just use a pizza stone on my grill and close the lid. Tell the gimic owner I contributed no money to his lifestyle. People please, pizza is not complicated. Save your money and do some research!
Am no genius but if the stone heats faster than the box, would it not be wiser to heat the box first and later insert the stone with pizza placed on top! Is anyone with me here on this brain-breakthrough
This IS genius. I'm going to try it out. I think the danger is the box cools too much while the stone heats but easier than my alternative which is making holes in the base to let the heat go up around the inside better
Genuinely not fit for purpose, unless you’re making pizzas for mice. Pizza stone gets too hot, which chars the bottom whilst there is barely any heat at the top - Not even enough to melt a small sliver of mozzarella - even after ten mins. You can easily put you hand inside at an indicated full whack and only feel mild warmth. An absolute con. Please save your money.
I agree. Used mine several times and the base cooks great, but the top is barely touched. I have to finish mine off under the oven grill to melt and char a bit. I’m using my wood braai (South Africa) so the flavor is epic… but not really worth the faff
utter rubbish all the heat is coming from below so the pizza will have a burnt base and a under cooked top ,in a proper pizza oven like the ooni the pizza will cook in a minute top and bottom ,don't waste your money
You are right the top isn't cooked, the only way to do it on a BBQ is with putting wood at the back so the flames cook the top and rotating the pizza, but the cooking time is around 3 minutes

You didnt do such a thing
I have mine,it works very well,it takes 5 minutes to cook a 300 grams of dough on a gas grill barbecue, thanks from Chili!
Does the lid on the bbq need to be closed at all in order to warm up the pizza oven?
Yes

Raw pizza? And 3 minutes? What temperature was this, 100c?
Yeah base done on underside, but top still not done, not enough heat going over the top.
Why couldnt i just use my BBQ without this Firebox and close the LID

What is the minimum dimension on the BBQ to use this stone ?
Why not just close the lid? a lot of the heat is going around the outside of the firebox.
How long did it take to get to temp?

Pizza 🍕 looks medium well lol
Why not just buy a stone , put it on the bbq and put the lid down for even heat distribution.
You need gas to escape
@@andrewkirkhope2842 gas escapes from the side of the bbq......
Too much heat leaves
Nice!
Where buying the fire box? Please
Thank you
I am also building mine. ruclips.net/video/0k3I0IEmUQE/видео.html
480p?
Why not doortelephone?

Restaurant quality...thats not a restaurant i’d want to eat at
Pizza looks half raw, this is why you're supposed to brush them with oil, so they get a golden brown.
Thats advice that we I’m not finding on videos , top tip thanks
It's all about temperature, not about oil. Do you brush your bread when baking too?
@@drtn6206 Yes, most breads use a butter or egg wash to get a darker crust.
It is simply undercooked.
This is not a step when making pizza, the oven just didn't get hot enough from the top.
raw top,burned crust
Guys, advice please? My husband has just placed this in our electric oven at high heat. I’m assuming this isn’t an appropriate application??? He won’t listen to me, perhaps he will you. The smoke is building as I type….😳😳😳
lol, omg, how did that turn out? No, that is not appropriate... I'm guessing he's not the brains in the relationship?
looks very small... no mention of the dimensions anywhere in the video... seems like a Costco pizza slice is bigger than the whole pizza used in this video.
Um, it's homemade... the dimensions are up to you. So you need to think for yourself, which clearly you didn't before posting that comment.
Why not simple buy just the stone and close the bbq lid instead of wasting your money on the Pizza Box?
The crust is raw

the heat should on low once you put the pizza
NOT at all.

Does it come out ok just using a pizza stone on a BBQ?
danny Hird it comes out great! Just get the thing scorching hot first!
I would believe that. This oven works fine, but I believe a stone within a closed bbq would be similar.
The pizza looks almost as bad as the resolution this video was uploaded in.

music is too loud and annoying.
That is one sad looking pizza
😂😂😂😂Worse way to cook a pizza
There is no logic. Burn bottom and uncooked top. Good. 🍕😂😜
Am no genius but if the stone heats faster than the box, would it not be wiser to heat the box first and later insert the stone with pizza placed on top! Is anyone with me here on this brain-breakthrough
The stone will crack. Also, what do you do for pizza 🍕 #2?
This IS genius. I'm going to try it out. I think the danger is the box cools too much while the stone heats but easier than my alternative which is making holes in the base to let the heat go up around the inside better
I burned fuck out mine
RAW pizza must be joking
what ANNOYING music!! for Gods sake stick to the narrative!
What is this? A pizza for ANTS?!?!
the top looks fine, the bottom of the pizza is definITALY burnt.
The top looks terrible, it's undercooked
crap, not cooked on top and burned in the bottom these boxes are a fail...
Had it on so far 10 mins NOTHING!
Man. You are supposed to close the lid of you grill l.
Really? And how then does one make a demo video with the lid closed?
Thanks. No I know I won’t buy one.
Peet zer? Damn Brit
Nobody gives a fuck.
.... Says the American (?) who probably pronounces pasta "parster "!! Cheeky b'stard.
As a Brit, I found this comment way too funny

It sounds like you didn't close the bbq lid. I've had one of these for 4-5 years and it cooks pizza great, tastes woodfired.
I agree. Used mine several times and the base cooks great, but the top is barely touched. I have to finish mine off under the oven grill to melt and char a bit.

That pizza is nowhere near cooked
big fail
Atrocious looking result.
Ma vattene cos'è questa schifezza 😂😂😂😂
looks like shit...said from an Italian.
È cruda
Que vergüenza que publiquen este vídeo… si está medio cruda la pizza 😂 quien se compre esto es que no tiene ojos
OMG, that pizza looked as pale as a Brit on the beach.
Utter crap. Do not buy. Burnt the underside of the pizza and top not even cooked.
That pizza is utter rubish and an insult to neapolitan pizza..I'm a neapolitan pizzaiolo!
Restaurant quality pizza... My arse , what a rubbish contraption..
