Man we get so much new content and in a way kinda feels unrelated to whatever was implemented in the last update that it make me wonder what klei is thinking about meanwhile im still stuck thinking about the kinda portal thingy on the floor in the archives it's been there for such a long time but still has no purpose
Trying to prolong the game as musch as they can, they dont want it to end. Either that or they have big plans that they are cooking in the background as this uldates roll around
I hope more and more people start voicing this very thing as it's actually been a thing with Klei for a lot longer than people realize. Not to toot my own horn but I warned of this very thing 3+ years ago already. I saw this coming.
Wow looking at the comments it seems like not much people aren’t really excited about the new content, I’m actually really happy about having new ways to acquire pure horror rather than hanging around rifts all the time, we finally have a way to revive a beefalo, new exciting and stronger equipment for shadow gear (probably just a Maxwell thing) and I’m personally excited to see what’s next, I’m sure the next update will be something dealing with the overworld/lunar aligned stuff but I think the new possessed shadow heart is a really good gateway into making the fuelweaver into a new boss with planar mechanics
We're just tired of *stuff* leading to *stuff* that doesn't progress anything. Game is great for those still learning and going through the motions however us tenured players know that 2023 was when Klei should've wrapped things up.
Klei has awoken from their month long meditation and saw… darkness, a void of duplicity, but saw a light at the end of the tunnel… a enlightening discovery…

After getting the rifts to actually get end game gear it's impossible to base underground at all. Boulders break everything, Enemies that are literally impossible to outrun without walking cane/mag, Great depths worm that permanently erases items. They really dont want for you to base in the caves
-You can prevent rocks from falling if you have pillars (wich you should if you don't want your base to be an eyesore) -Walking canes and magiluminescence are things you should already have, given you have to kill the anciennt fuelweaver first -If you like cave basing i'd just turn off the great dephts worm, it's annoying and doesn't have any unique drops.
I don't understand why they're adding specifically end-game content stuff. Kinda wish that they add more any-time content because none of my friends ever bother going past exploring the ruins.
The ones with brains understand and feel this in their souls. They also know what it means for a once concrete, focused survival game with charm and worth. The mindless followers are running the show more and more unfortunately however so we're stuck in endless loops of just *more* that leads to *more* that continues to ultimately lead to a whole lot of nothing.

Between console and pc, together and not, I will have like 1500 hours on this game. I go to periods but when I resume it, I do 1/2 weeks intensive. As much as I may have played, I still don’t know what the portals are. (N.B. I have several worlds with 500 and more days) P.S. I need hamlet on dst. That dlc “was” fire🥲

The fact that the Great Depths Worm can spawn in worm waves instead of being an optional boss and has terrible drops on top of that makes me want to just turn worm waves off at this point.
Totally fair take, especially when said loot is actually pulled from a random pool instead of just dropping all in one! I agree that perhaps looking into making other cave biomes worthwhile would've gone a longer way but it is what it is.
I figured that much given how I threw one on myself while recording but I mostly meant if it went into other crafts or could be used as portal preserve or something! Thanks though!

you're like the only person that keeps Dont Starve alive in the online community, and tries to piece it all together with some sense. I stopped playing 5 years ago, and now i wanted to go back to it and start again, but too much has changed. The game is no longer the same. They destroyed it with the amount of content.
Honestly, I find it too hard to actually do any of the endgame or lategame stuff so me and my friend just explore and survive. Most of the later bosses are just too much :(
Ngl to you, the game will die if they go with what you’re saying. Even with all the changes it still felt kind of dull when me and my friends came back. They need a whole new map with many different biomes for a fresh nee feel. These are honestly very welcome changes for people who want more from the game. I do agree a QOL update would be great, but it needs to be in addition to nee content as well imo

They got rid of void walking and gave us a bridge that mostly only works if your cave generation graces you. 6 tiles isn't really anything. You can't make a bridge in the archives. Now I'm wondering if you can't make them in the ruins, the labyrinth, and the atrium? They are giving the caves all this nightmare fuel but don't have a lot of places to use it. I truly wish they let the lazy explorer be refuelable with nightmare fuel at this point.
Would love to get back to DST, but Satisfactory kinda overtook my life. Maybe I'll wait for the december update. (And hope they finally give Wendy a skilltree)
We keep getting an error message: “Dedicated Server Failed to Start” since the new update!😭 working fine before. Tried disabling mods, redownloaded the game, and still the same error! Any idea how I can fix it??
Man, I'm simply not excited for this update at all. Getting rid of voidwalking, adding a non-optional enormous and oppressive boss and adding even more content that barely changes anything. I've said it many, many times, but Klei should just give DST an ending already. They add more and more content with each update, and all of them are barely related to the last one. They could end From Beyond and the overall story with a blast and then keep adding non-endgame content for the 90% of playerbase who don't even explore the ruins. And I'm saying this being a part of the 10% who really enjoys the endgame of DST.
Agreed, almost to a tee at that! My complaints over this past year plus stem from them literally setting up their own "finale" perfectly only to go back on their own, publicly stated words in an effort to drag out content. "From Beyond" was meant to be 3 MASSIVE releases to finally bring the War to the Constant to a head and here we are 5+ Updates in and... Why do we care? What are we doing this for? So what if it's a videogame? It also doesn't matter if DST is Klei's moneymaker still! "Finish" what you said you would *then* do all this extra crap later if you truly want to. But, too late now.
Hey, Beard! I see you're not showcase any Dst mods last months, but can you make an exclusion for "Reign of runts" and make fresh review? During this year Goat Slice added skill trees to Bearger, Dragonfly, Moose Goose and Deerclops, last one was released at 6th of September. I know you dislike the entire idea of the skill trees, but I think you gonna like it (at least a little)
So, they just removed other ink blights and made endgame materials that drop from them unavailable to get without other endgame gear? You cant basically attack new mouth shadow thralls because of their stealth mechanics
Correct. This is the Update that has made me question ever NOT turning Rifts on straight away and just dealing with the annoyances for a little while. Cave Rifts are less stress than Lunar ones at least.
@TheBeard777 My biggest issue with lunar rifts is the constant spawning of the thorny flowers. It's come to the point of killing them twice for drops and then making the gear to just delete the world and start over like 3-4 months later. And now I just have 0 desire to ever make a cave base, which sucks because it was fun to do after killing cc.
So much good stuff, but why do we need to kill fuelweaver a second time while the rifts are active?! The shadow axe is now even more later game than before😢 Lunar rifts got old bosses upgraded, shadow rifts gets the family guy cantina band meme ( what do you guys want?[ -kill the same boss] ALRIGHT, fight the same bosses again, repeatedly🤟🏻)
And yet still.... nobody talks about the new attack animation for those times we see the back of our character..... (I guess nobody else cares, understandable)
Man playing DST is fun but i dont know why i feel unmotivated to play mr beard. I like the updates (i guess) but i feel like more stuff is missing. Not sure if it early game or something what do you think mr beard?
Klei ruined their own progression, story, lore, and gameplay loop by hamfisting *stuff* instead of interwoven experiences that build upon one another to lead to a proper crescendo. This is a perfect summary of Klei ever since "Forgotten Knowledge".
They did luck out on the rifts because it's literally a live service "Portal" for content. They can't really change current existing stuff without gathering some bad reputation. People nowadays are pretty judgemental about new games (not without reason anyway), so making changes to these things might make the game seem unfinished for new players and drive them out. Same situation with the first time ever the caves were created. I do think more content is good, but this is just more content for the sake of it. They haven't expanded in the story for so long it's pretty disappointing. I do think they're building up to something big so we'll just have to keep giving them feedback

Your speed to bring new content is diabolical wow! How do you feel about the content on this new update? I just think there are too many little pieces of new content coming constantly but not a significant step on any direction besides skilltrees, also I feel like everything cool gets nerfed unnecessarily; getting any of this stuff is not easy at all but they nerfed a lot the cool new axe or other types of equipment on every update. The progression doesnt feel meaningful in the game without a skilltree, you just kill slightly faster or tank slightly more. For me I preferred OP equipment that gets constantly overwhelmed by a cool higher level of difficulty than a stale progression system
That's just a mirrored shadow of the late game lunar items that game already have. No need to be repulsive, at least we get some early game content too. I agree, that we still need some points of interest in caves, but it looks like devs doesnt share same vision and continue to see all underground as optional content. So whatever.

They're aren't complaining about new content. They're concerned about how blatant Klei has been with their lack of care before, within, and after said recent Updates. I promise you this has been growing for nearly two years. Some of us were just way, way ahead of the curve.
there's so much content in this game now but I feel like all these armor sets will be overshadowed by just Brightshade/WARBIS and Brightshade Sword imo this game is becoming a banjo & kazooie collectathon of stuff that people'll use once for the novelty then never again :(

Your comments resonate with my experience with the game so well beard. 90% of the content in the game other than the yearly survival cycle feels like you have to go out of your way to experience. It just feels like a burden. My best example of this is the ruins and how i dont know a single beginner that even feels inclined to go while stuck in the caves during summer. And they feel the need to add an even more mean shadow creature ? They keep updating and "improving" the game but its mostly geared towards people with 10k hours and are bored of the game rather than the general overall experience of people. Why can't they just make the game better than keep adding needless stuff ?
It's a valid question with solid points behind it that continue to become more and more of a concern with each passing Update as Klei refuses to *NOT* back themselves into corners that can be easily avoided with proper planning. But no, the Klei of the "Forgotten Knowledge" and "Return of Them" years is long gone sadly.
And then they sneakily made it to where we can't even use bridges in the Labyrinth or Atrium at all anymore without mentioning it in their Patch Notes. 🤨
The way the Rictus works is so fucking stupid I have to say. If you don't have any AOE methods with you and you are just exploring caves and happen to aggro it to you, legit just follows u forever lmfao.
Tooth trap makes it pretty easy... up until the second Rictus bites you... and when you reveal THAT one the third shows up... 😅 Easy with a group but not easy at all alone.
I do think you're a bit too pessimistic regarding the updates but i kinda agree with this one.. Its just MORE content, doesn't mean its good.... It is starting to feel a bit bloated GREAT-worm POOR-loot
Klei made me this way. I am not the same Beardo I was for those 4.5 years of daily uploads. Ever question *that* over just questioning my way of thinking nowadays to come to the conclusion that maybe it's *Klei's* continuous ridiculousness that's the problem? I warned you all years ago that we'd reach this point and none of you believed me. Now some of you are coming around but are still holding onto nostalgic hope as you can't admit the truth of the matter regarding Klei's decision making not only backing them into a corner but putting them into endless loops of (bad) development.
Double-edged sword of sorts for you newer/learning players as while it is mostly all Post-Endgame it's still a heck of a lot of nonsense being tacked on over and over and over again.
I remember when Klei said outright that we would all discover the reason why in the third "From Beyond" Update and now we're like 5 updates past that point... 😬🤨

Most of the update seems meh, but at least the bridges are a passable way of doing a "legitimate" void walk replacement (albeit not fond of them being breakable by falling rocks and stuff). At any rate, thanks for the video. I'm always appreciative of the info on these updates, both good and bad.
I love and hate the new endgame content, because harder challenges and better rewards are nice, But it feels like 70% of each update is focused on endgame, I’d prefer more QOL stuff with small bites of new things to toy around with.
I always wonder how the fuck are you supposed to find out all this stuff you can do when you start DST as a new player and don't watch any guides/ read the wiki 😂😂

Ink jars can be used to slow down enemies, and pretty good slow down btw, at my knowledge it even slows down Fuelweaver

A bit of explanation for the mimics: they also drain sanity upon inspecting a mimic weapon and run away, out of your inventory

We cannot make them in the Labyrinth or Atrium anymore. They changed that in the full release without mentioning it in their Patch Notes.

No. Hence why it's furniture. Only the lamps and vases have *some* utility with light sources.

Man, I'm simply not excited for this update at all. Getting rid of voidwalking, adding a non-optional enormous and oppressive boss and adding even more content that barely changes anything. I've said it many, many times, but Klei should just give DST an ending already. They add more and more content with each update, and all of them are barely related to the last one. They could end From Beyond and the overall story with a blast and then keep adding non-endgame content for the 90% of playerbase who don't even explore the ruins. And I'm saying this being a part of the 10% who really enjoys the endgame of DST.
Agreed, almost to a tee at that! My complaints over this past year plus stem from them literally setting up their own "finale" perfectly only to go back on their own, publicly stated words in an effort to drag out content. "From Beyond" was meant to be 3 MASSIVE releases to finally bring the War to the Constant to a head and here we are 5+ Updates in and... Why do we care? What are we doing this for?
So what if it's a videogame? It also doesn't matter if DST is Klei's moneymaker still! "Finish" what you said you would *then* do all this extra crap later if you truly want to. But, too late now.

During this year Goat Slice added skill trees to Bearger, Dragonfly, Moose Goose and Deerclops, last one was released at 6th of September. I know you dislike the entire idea of the skill trees, but I think you gonna like it (at least a little)

Couldn't you just not open any ornate chest so that you wouldn't have to kill ancient fuelweaver to reset then,and be able to spawn the ornery chest?
Sounds like this might be the case in some worlds but I'm not 100% sure on that yet!
So, they just removed other ink blights and made endgame materials that drop from them unavailable to get without other endgame gear? You cant basically attack new mouth shadow thralls because of their stealth mechanics
Discount Shadow Pieces still spawn from the Dreadstone Outcrop but sometimes are replaced.
The Anti-Cave basing is out! Wait... We have to kill SW twice before getting the mimics to spawn? (Unless you activate it in the menu)
Correct. This is the Update that has made me question ever NOT turning Rifts on straight away and just dealing with the annoyances for a little while. Cave Rifts are less stress than Lunar ones at least.

@TheBeard777 My biggest issue with lunar rifts is the constant spawning of the thorny flowers. It's come to the point of killing them twice for drops and then making the gear to just delete the world and start over like 3-4 months later. And now I just have 0 desire to ever make a cave base, which sucks because it was fun to do after killing cc.

You have to reset the Labyrinth chests while a Rift is active in order to get the new Ornery Chests, aka Mimics.
@@TheBeard777 So I went to ruins without killing fuelweaver second time. All chests are turning alive just fine. mimics also do spawn.
So much good stuff, but why do we need to kill fuelweaver a second time while the rifts are active?! The shadow axe is now even more later game than before😢
Lunar rifts got old bosses upgraded, shadow rifts gets the family guy cantina band meme ( what do you guys want?[ -kill the same boss] ALRIGHT, fight the same bosses again, repeatedly🤟🏻)
Its a thing that I have been saying. The Rifts should be active since the begging now by default. I like it very much
And yet still.... nobody talks about the new attack animation for those times we see the back of our character.....

Klei ruined their own progression, story, lore, and gameplay loop by hamfisting *stuff* instead of interwoven experiences that build upon one another to lead to a proper crescendo. This is a perfect summary of Klei ever since "Forgotten Knowledge".

They did luck out on the rifts because it's literally a live service "Portal" for content. They can't really change current existing stuff without gathering some bad reputation. People nowadays are pretty judgemental about new games (not without reason anyway), so making changes to these things might make the game seem unfinished for new players and drive them out. Same situation with the first time ever the caves were created. I do think more content is good, but this is just more content for the sake of it. They haven't expanded in the story for so long it's pretty disappointing. I do think they're building up to something big so we'll just have to keep giving them feedback

I just think there are too many little pieces of new content coming constantly but not a significant step on any direction besides skilltrees, also I feel like everything cool gets nerfed unnecessarily; getting any of this stuff is not easy at all but they nerfed a lot the cool new axe or other types of equipment on every update. The progression doesnt feel meaningful in the game without a skilltree, you just kill slightly faster or tank slightly more. For me I preferred OP equipment that gets constantly overwhelmed by a cool higher level of difficulty than a stale progression system

That's just a mirrored shadow of the late game lunar items that game already have. No need to be repulsive, at least we get some early game content too. I agree, that we still need some points of interest in caves, but it looks like devs doesnt share same vision and continue to see all underground as optional content. So whatever.

jesus christ why are people complaining about the new updates, all this stuff is great and it's not like the game even needs more updates, it already feels like a finished product this is just klei being a great company, it could be way worse, we could be minecraft 😬
They're aren't complaining about new content. They're concerned about how blatant Klei has been with their lack of care before, within, and after said recent Updates. I promise you this has been growing for nearly two years. Some of us were just way, way ahead of the curve.

Your comments resonate with my experience with the game so well beard. 90% of the content in the game other than the yearly survival cycle feels like you have to go out of your way to experience. It just feels like a burden.
My best example of this is the ruins and how i dont know a single beginner that even feels inclined to go while stuck in the caves during summer. And they feel the need to add an even more mean shadow creature ?
They keep updating and "improving" the game but its mostly geared towards people with 10k hours and are bored of the game rather than the general overall experience of people. Why can't they just make the game better than keep adding needless stuff ?
It's a valid question with solid points behind it that continue to become more and more of a concern with each passing Update as Klei refuses to *NOT* back themselves into corners that can be easily avoided with proper planning. But no, the Klei of the "Forgotten Knowledge" and "Return of Them" years is long gone sadly.
Honestly I might be on the unpopular side with this one but i’d like a new map. Not new biome. A whole new map with new biomes.

The way the Rictus works is so fucking stupid I have to say. If you don't have any AOE methods with you and you are just exploring caves and happen to aggro it to you, legit just follows u forever lmfao.
Tooth trap makes it pretty easy... up until the second Rictus bites you... and when you reveal THAT one the third shows up... 😅

I do think you're a bit too pessimistic regarding the updates but i kinda agree with this one.. Its just MORE content, doesn't mean its good.... It is starting to feel a bit bloated

Klei made me this way. I am not the same Beardo I was for those 4.5 years of daily uploads. Ever question *that* over just questioning my way of thinking nowadays to come to the conclusion that maybe it's *Klei's* continuous ridiculousness that's the problem? I warned you all years ago that we'd reach this point and none of you believed me. Now some of you are coming around but are still holding onto nostalgic hope as you can't admit the truth of the matter regarding Klei's decision making not only backing them into a corner but putting them into endless loops of (bad) development.

Double-edged sword of sorts for you newer/learning players as while it is mostly all Post-Endgame it's still a heck of a lot of nonsense being tacked on over and over and over again.
Yet again, I find absolutely no compelling reason whatsoever to activate rifts and plenty of reasons not to.
I remember when Klei said outright that we would all discover the reason why in the third "From Beyond" Update and now we're like 5 updates past that point... 😬🤨

Most of the update seems meh, but at least the bridges are a passable way of doing a "legitimate" void walk replacement (albeit not fond of them being breakable by falling rocks and stuff).

I love and hate the new endgame content, because harder challenges and better rewards are nice, But it feels like 70% of each update is focused on endgame, I’d prefer more QOL stuff with small bites of new things to toy around with.
