*Love this **MyBest.Tools** have the original dremel oscillating tool but it's corded which is fine in many instances but this is so versatile. Must have for any tool monger like me.*

The Dewalt 20v is just as light as the competitor's 12v. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance and battery life of this tool. As far as oscillators go, they just aren't very ergonomic tools. The dewalt oscillators have an offset handle that do make them somewhat more ergonomic than the competitors' oscillators.

Thanks for the helpful reminders. I waited until the after holiday sale and found sets that were good buys having all the blades you mentioned with extra pieces for the detail sanders. Yes not forcing the tool on the material helps to keep your blade from premature wearing. Great advice as usual. Keep the projects coming. One day I hope to show some of my projects online. 👍🏼
I love that you do tool education videos as well as projects. Just used a multi tool today to cut drywall for a new switch. Way better than a drywall knife (or box cutter ha).
When installing cabinets, especially remodels where trim is more likely to be in the way, these are literally the best thing since sliced bread, maybe better! Cheers!

Super insight on the Oscillating Multi-Tool. This tool will get the job done when nothing else can. You are very complete in your video and thanks for it. I would add one note on the sanding tool. The edge of the sand paper will create an undercut on the wall you are sanding up to, so be very careful. I learned this the hard way. Thanks Melissa!
See Jane Drill has helped me so much to improve my DIY Skills. I have build a 26 ft by 22 ft Patio Cover for woodworking, BBQ and Family gatherings.
I also was a slow convert to multi tool but in the 7+ years I have had one, there’s numerous times when NO other tool would have been able to solve the problem! It’s almost like an electric chisel.
Now having two of them (in both winter and summer homes), the one that is used most often (due to more projects there) has a variable speed trigger so a light touch means a minimal amount of blade movement and that is critical in getting started in some places.
So having a fixed speed dial (my cheaper Harbor Freight one) like in video is tolerable but not nearly as good.
One tip: When possible, cut at an angle with those straight blades in wood to help get sawdust out of cut. Plunge cut to begin or finish up if something behind item being cut.

You're 100% correct. Let the tool do the work. There's a distinct correlation between material being cut and tool oscillating speed.

Great video as usual, and not many people are aware of the multitude of uses of this tool as well as how easy it is to use (as you illustrated!). Just used mine to cut some hard to reach PVC by the water softener.

Excellent presentation of the info, I got one of these several years into doing my own home improvements. Treated it like a sawz-all and thought it was useless at first. Totally - not- the way to use it.
Yup, as the sawz-all is for rough cuts and the oscillating for the very fine cuts. And places where you can’t get/have the blade go deeper than material you’re cutting.

Blades for these tools are ridiculously expensive up here in Canada, lve found the exchange-a-blade at Rona are a great option. They work well & you get money back on the used ones on return. Better for the wallet & the environment 😁

If you already have battery tools from a particular brand, adding another tool is probably ok but I like my corded ones as no worry about running out of power.
Hi I just recently had came across your videos should I already picked up what the person was but I liked it and anyways you mentioned see Jane drill I seen that video about the blades she is one of my favorites as well been for a long time but I'm going to subscribe to your site you seem pretty knowledgeable and when I first got this I think I got the app ID Rockwell I was intimidated and I'm not intimidated of anything so I never bothered using it and I took it back to the store year later I'm like seen it on sale on all hell I've got some very like 1966 small little bitty house you know awkward positions were it's impossible to get to that Old sawmill wood well I need to say I fell in love with this gadget love love thanks
I use mine all the time. The only thing I dislike is that I have an older one that it is a chore to replace blade do to the allen key version and if your not careful could come loose.
I have the same multi tool here in the UK but it's sold under the Worx brand 😅

Just out of curiosity, I've seen you own a lot of RIGID tools and I know RIGID has two battery multi-tools (one which is a revised version of the original). I owned a RYOBI before and it failed. Upon looking at reviews, many have the same issues and I'm thinking of getting a RIDIG Multi-Tool this time. Do you know anyone who owns one or perhaps did you get yourself one and how is the quality so far?

I actually just bought the DeWalt one linked in the description on this video because it's such a great sale price! I like my Rockwell one, but I'm going for cordless this time around so it's even more versatile.

Another important tip is don't ever overestimate what a multitool can do. They aren't a do it all tool by any means. Use them for specific issues that need to be resolved.
The people in marketing seem to push larer cutter ark swings as more premium. Of my two oscillating tools I like the smaller ark as it kicks back less when hitting obstructions and vibrates less. Yes it's slower cutting but these tools are not a good choice for speed anyway.
I'm not going to lie. I learn a lot from watching your DIY videos! But I also watch it because you are so awfully beautiful from head to toes! I know your hubby must be so proud of you! What a very lucky guy! I look forward to seeing what you do next!
The #1 rule of power tools is to allow the tool to do the work. If you need to force it, speed, sharpness, or type of blade is usually not optimal. The same is true of drills, and other saws etc. Learning to sharpen a drill is beyond the scope of many home DIYer's because they wouldn't do it often enough to stay in practice. I use the local sharpening guy on many things, others I do myself (40 years as an industrial maintenance tech). If you need a sharpening guy, talk to beauticians (Though I think industry standard is to send them in) or a pet groomer (that's how I found my guy). As a bonus when you need kitchen knives sharpened, you'll "have a guy".

Here's a tip for you Melissa. If you ever need to cut foam, take one of your dullest blades and file off the teeth completely. Then sharpen it like a knife edge. Works like a charm.

Great coverage of the tool but drywall is VERY abrasive.
Yes, A sawzall with short fine tooth blade would work well. Consider what is being cut and recommended blade by the manufacturer for the material and I think blade will last longer. There was a tool that was popular several years ago that had Zip in the name and used a cutting bit. We shouldn't forget the jigsaw. It will do a lot of what the multi tool will do and there are blades available that will cut most any metal. Don't get me wrong I have used a Fein multitool for 12 years and it has never failed me(I really like it) , but sometimes we forget about other electric tools that have been around for many years. Melissa I'm not trying to hijack your review. You have always given fair and helpful reviews. You have one of my favorite channels.
