I love the fact that Shinada is very much a "street fighter" kind of guy. He is very unconventional with his moves, downright brutal in the right places, will not hestiate to break any rules of a "respectable" fighter, and in the many ways he doesn't have strength, he has situational technique and merciless self defense skill to make up for it.

I like the fact that Shinada is a weapons based character. I don’t usually use weapons that much, but since they have a character that’s skilled with weapons, it makes me utilize them more. If Shinada’s fists aren’t as helpful, then at least I can use weapons
Honestly shinada's combat loop is fantastic once you're able to break through guards, its a shame none of that matters against the Amon d-bags... Ill never see an umbrella the same way again...

8:58 Essence of Furious Thrusts is one of my favourite Heat Actions. It has a few variants where different parts are enemy perspective. Being on the receiving end makes the move so much more powerful feeling.

Because shinada never been trained. So he fight like street fight, every heat action he use, is to make sure the enemy will get heavily injure

its really disappointing considering the only style that cant borrow heat moves (mad dog) has two heat moves and only one is style specific

It actually makes the bat disappear, so it's a useful thing

People don’t like tatsuo because he feels clunky that’s the POINT though he is just a regular guy he is not a unstoppable bad ass he is a normal bad ass and I love it he is just a normal dude trying to defend himself

I mean im pretty sure shinada was supposed to be a wrestler but that was reworked so he could be a baseball player because of plot.
Edit: More proof that Shinada was supposed to be a wrestler, he has multiple tech moves for grabs and i think he introduced heat moves while grabbing without being near terrain.

Glad I’m not the only one. I’m on my third play through of Y5 Remastered this time I have him almost maxed out and it’s crazy. The first two times I didn’t think I’d like his combat style. However once I started really leveling him up he became one of my favorites to use. Not the best or worst for colosseum either. However some fights in the colosseum I love using him in.
Love the yakuza series but I kinda wish they'd be more original with the heat moves most of them are just repeats of previous games
They a smaller budget than other open world games. What do you expect?

@@mr_lemon9349 I think it makes sense in some ways. They weren’t going to use Tanimura in this one, so they recycled one of his moves for Shinada. The description for this move says it was inspired by wrestling which I could see happening. Plus he still has some heat moves exclusive to him. One of which gets reworked for Majima in 0

I'm surprised Shinada wasn't in more games in the series, his backstory fit in with the rest of the cast. A down and out former baseball player who got screwed out of his career because of backstage bullshit.

It's my headcanon that Jo Sawashiro saw Shinada having a fight on the street and had a revelation on how to fight with umbrellas from him. Shinada is the most underrated Yakuza character but a mile and a half.

Yakuza 5 was one of my favorites but shimada is the worst part of every play through. He has a good personality but they really fucked him with his fighting style.
That's so strange because his is my favorite fighting style. It's just so varied. And then when you combine it with weapons it gets even better.

HE IS NOT SKILLED AT FIGHTING, ACCEPT THAT.
Personally, I'd argue Haruka's section is the worst section of 5, but that's sort of cheating. Cool as it was to have her in a leading role, the dance minigame got old insanely fast, right up until Akiyama saves the whole thing as a joke.
Yakuza 5 is literally similar to Yakuza 0 Because it has the same heat actions and moves.
Also, that's because Yakuza 5 and 0 used the same engine too. Along with Kiwami and Ishin.
Where tanamura?
Tanimura is never even mentioned after Yakuza 4. There was a scandal involving his voice actor, who did drugs or something (Japanese people take that VERY seriously), so they changed his face and voice for the remastered game as well. Pretty much every other character is either mentioned or referenced but for Tanimura is like he never existed.

Kind of a bummer that we never got a confirmation of what actually happened to Tanimura. Apparently the scandal with his VA was after Yakuza 5 was released as well so it wasn't because of that, RGG just discarded him like an empty bottle of Staminan X.
@@CidGuerreiro1234 iirc the voice actor was falsely accused of doing drugs and got blacklisted by the industry in general. After his name was cleared he quit voice acting as a reaction to his harsh treatment. When the remaster came rgg studios had to find someone else to redo Tanimura's lines and changed his model to be less like his original va.
@@CidGuerreiro1234 the Drug Addiction drama happened in 2016, after Yakuza 0. The reason he's not in 5 is because Tanimura's voice and facial actor was busy at the moment
Of course if he was free we could easily have him be a 6 playable character and have his own chapter before the Final Chapter
