I'm going to reinforce my floor also going to hit harbor freight tomorrow and get a rivet nut set hopefully this will help with the chop

A few years ago I wanted to get the family on the water. I had a choice between taking my father in laws 1968 boston whaler with a blown motor, or buying an inflatable and a brand new motor. If I had bought the inflatable we would be having adventures like this. The whaler still has engine problems and I won't take my family on it just yet. Curious - why did you pick the 25hp? i think these are rated for 50

It’s the heaviest motor I can lift by myself, and I got an incredible deal on it.

Yes but for me 25 is enough power for it even tho there rates for more tho cool video

I don’t know that I would want to go faster than 20 mph anyway in such a light boat. The chop is pretty brutal where we go and a lot of the area is an Idle Speed only anyway. It’s also nice to be able to lift the motor on and off by myself.

      20 is plenty @SoFloBuilds

Did you bolt your outboard, or do you just ride with it clamped? I just got the same boat with a 25hp mercury, also do you trailer it with the outboard mounted? Any concerns about stress on the transom during trailering?

Well I have a generic Transom Saver from Amazon which supports the motor during transport, but I definitely try to avoid excess bumps when towing. But no, I don't have any worries.

The outboard is clamped tight, then the clamp handles are zip tied together so they can loosen.

Bro if you put a 50 on that with the canope you are likely to take off 😂

No doubt! I don't think I would want to go much faster than 20mph in the wakes and chop we have in the Intercoastal. It's pretty rough most days. I think we have the most fun just cruising.

Your bimini is blocking the speed

Probably, but the Sun is brutal this time of year. And seeing how I've already had a chunk of my face the size of a Silver Dollar removed, I'll take the loss of a couple MPH ;-)
