Riverlands would have been brutalised and that's that. However ... With Tywin at the helm it's very likely Robb would have been spared and allowed to save face, Tywin would have admitted killing Ned was a mistake and would have allowed generous surrender terms for Robb. Robb would have remained warden of the north, his firstborn son would have been taken as a ward at Casterly Rock along with a few other prominent northern children. Not really if we are to consider that this is supposed to be a medieval tale. First, children didn't use to get the same treatment as today. Second, Robb is noble, different upbringing altogether. Girls were married off at this age, and boys, well, were leading men to battle.

Thing is, Joffrey was kind of smart for killing Ned. It was accidentally smart, and more vindictive pure evil, but still smart. When Ned was imprisoned, Robb and the rest of the North were on an absolute mission. Once he was dead and after that anger fizzled out, Robb’s mind became empty and ready for other things (like love) to find him. Had Robb not broken his oath, Walder would've stayed loyal, if only to have one of his daughters or his granddaughters be a queen. Frey hated Tywin due to Tywin having openly said once that Freys aren't good enough to wed Lannisters when Tytos wed Tywin's sister to a Frey. Robb lost and died due to thinking with the head in-between his legs instead of the one on his shoulders. Even Catelyn told him he was a fool for marrying Jeyne/Talisa. Rickard Karstark wasn't wrong when he said, "You lost this war the day you married her."

Rob seems to have been such a great brother to Theon and John that I'm confident Theo genuinely wanted to help Rob but got side tracked with trying to please his blood family
