qsn As far as I understand, the US diesel passenger car emissions standards are so strict, it nearly inhibits all carmakers from bringing their Diesel engines to the US. For example: Mazda is planning on bringing their Diesel engine to the US but the compression ratio is super low and the engine is not efficient at all. It in fact gets worse mpg than a lot of modern gasoline engines (it gets 27 city but only 30 highway).

Why do you need diesel passenger cars in the US if the price of fuel is so low? (It's about 5 times cheaper than in Poland where I live, and on average we make like 3 times less money) serious question, I'm curious! ;)
Maciej Barczyk You can get much better fuel economy with a diesel engine so you get farther for less money. Yes the fuel is very cheap in the US but why not be more efficient when you can?! It is becoming harder and harder for car makers to create diesel engine that satisfies the government and environmental protection agency but some reason they don’t have any problems with trucks that people tune to spew black soot and other nasty particulates. In my mind they simply are turning a blind eye to some issues while cracking down unnecessarily on others. To answer your question though it’s just because why not if you can get better fuel economy?

I drove a V6 Touareg with 286 hp and it was a very pleasant experience, it felt fast enough

I know that the V8 TDI engine is phased-out in Europe unfortunately (due to EU emissions and RDE regulations, etc.)
However, does VW still produce the engine for other markets? (e.g. Euro 2 to Euro 5 markets)

No TDI anymore and not built to US Specs. Cheaper to just lease it’s cousins, Audi Q8/Porsche Cayenne. Now if I move to a seaside villa in Portugal I may revisit this thought😉

I'm from Europe and I always watch reviews of cars from US and you are right. Also the VW Passat looks dated compared to the one from Europe.

Does this Touareg have TDI/Hybrid engine? It was very quiet in parking lot. Love It. I drive '05 V8 since new.
No hybrid, it's just very well insulated.
I would take it over an Audi Q8. Too bad they don't have them in the US.
V8 is a dream engine, so sad we come to an era with a juice-like, 2.0L performance...
I understand the need to make small engines. And I really like it that they have performance. Mercs 2.0 has 420HP. But I still want cars like this to be made.

V6 Diesel mit Ausstattung (nicht voll) kostet auch 105 000€ in Deutschland. Der V6 ist Serie, Nackt.
@@renemann3382 Naja, aber ich vergleiche ja den nackten V6 mit dem nackten V8 und da muss man NUR FÜR DEN MOTOR 46.000€ Aufpreis zahlen. Und es ist trotzdem nur ein kleiner 4Liter V8 Biturbo Diesel. Noch dazu ist komischerweise der Grundpreis vom Touareg V8 TDI höher als beim SQ7 hier in Österreich......
@@philippk1125 Ja das ist gut möglich. Aber denke Preis Leistung ist man im VAG eh völlig an der falschen Adresse. Der V8 sollte nur in der Basis schon etwas mehr extras haben als der nackte v6 der wirklich so nackt ist, das der Preis in der Grundausstattung so peinlich ist wie mit Ausstattung. Knapp 110t für einen VOLKSWAGEN, da hört es irgendwann auf bei mir. Besonders wenn man ganz genau hin sieht in der Preisklasse. Übergang vom Bildschirm zum Tacho, Lenkrad, das ist alles nicht 110t€ Like, das muss aber jeder für sich selbst wissen ob er bereit ist soviel aus zu geben. Ich finde es nur cool das es noch große Diesel gibt. Die Zeit ist eh bald vorbei, wie man es beim Skoda Event gesehen hat. Die schönen Tage sind gezählt.

Von vorne echt agressiv, von hinten etwas weich gespült. Der V8 Motor ist standesgemäß in so einem Fahrzeug und 15sek von 100-200 (Tacho) ist ein Wert mit dem man leben kann in dieser Klasse. Ab 220kmh ist dann die Luft raus, aber ist auch ein ordentlicher Brocken im Wind. Wäre interessant wie lange er auf 250 braucht. X5M50d wäre etwas günstiger, gleich schnell bis 200 dann ist der BMW etwas schneller, etwas sparsamer, daher passt das. Schön das es noch V8 gibt. Mit einer schönen Software hat der Touareg dann 560PS unter der Haube, denke dann geht das ganze auch ne etage zügiger.
Hätte gerne auch mal unter die Motorhaube geschaut
Ein richtig geiles auto. Aber dieses klickgeräusch beim blinken klingt leider nach einem vw beetle, richtig billig 🤣🤷♂️

Volkswagen ist wirklich sehr schön nur Lenkrad stört mich übelst. Wenn man diese mit bmw / Mercedes/ Audi vergleicht. Ich würde lieber 1000€ mehr zahlen aber a leiwande lenkrad haben. Muss aber wirklich dazu sagen touareg in meine augen schönste suv 2019/2020 ist
