Underrated by who exactly? I’m 50 years old and, for all intents and purposes, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love this man’s singing and playing, not to mention Andy’s playing and singing… XTC’s albums always had spectacularly good guitar parts on them. That said, if there are lots of people out there “underrating” Mr. Moulding they need to stop it immediately!
I still remember Generals and Majors coming out when I was 10 and impressed by THAT chord progression even if I couldn't figure it out at that age. Obviously he's done many things since then. Like many naturally gifted people I don't think he has any idea how talented he is - he just "does". Either way fantastic player and some really wonderful songs.
As a bass player, I’m thrilled that Colin shares the exact same influence as me… the amazing Andy Fraser. As Colin put it, Fraser left a lot of holes in the music, and that was what appealed to me. It made me realise that a bass player doesn’t need to be playing twenty to the dozen to be effective. In fact, in Andy Fraser’s case, the exact opposite was true. Half a century after buying Free’s Fire and Water album, my bass-playing is still influenced by Fraser. Listening to his playing style taught me that spaces can count as much as notes, and be just as tasteful. I’m delighted that I found this short video. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏻
Andy was a master of rhythm and space. I interviewed him for his album NAKED AND FINALLY FREE ---which you should check out. We'd like to have Simon Kirke on the show to discuss his career, and working with Andy and Boz Burrell. Thanks for watching!
I put Colin alongside Graham Maby, Mike Rutherford, Mick Karn, Chris Squire etc. as intelligent guys who choose great harmony parts; unpredictable lines that delight. I agree with his comments on Andy Fraser - on Alright Now it was watching him swaying while playing that great fretboard-long riff that made the song for me.
Always a great tone and feel on his playing 'I remember the Sun', 'Car out of Control', 'In Loving memory of a Name', 'Sacrificial Bonfire' etc basically all of them...
Colin Moulding was under-rated as a bassist and a composer.
Which is why we had him on as a guest! Thanks for watching!
I prefer to say that Colin is under appreciated. Damn good bass player and songwriter.

F off with the underrated comments. I'm sick of reading that shit.

@@notesfromanartist7361You’re more than welcome… it was my pleasure to watch the video.
I’ll check out the Andy Fraser interview. 🙏🏻
Top player and song writer...
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!

Andy Fraser was an incredible human being... Such a kind and caring, humble person. So cool to hear this. As Paul Kossoff was my "Juke Box Hero"
legend
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!
I can see why Andy Fraser appealed to him, he had his own thing going on and Colin himself eventually found his own distinctive sound as well.
Always a great tone and feel on his playing 'I remember the Sun', 'Car out of Control', 'In Loving memory of a Name', 'Sacrificial Bonfire' etc basically all of them...
Great big up to the Greatest Band In The World and especially their bass player Andy Fraser
Really cool
So melodic. Contratempts Andy beautifully
Exactly! Thanks for watching!
Как голос изменился... Но всё такой же красивый!
And the superfine Fraser admired Jack Bruce's intensity & inventiveness.Which you can hear in his own playing .
I think Colin probably also likes the late Alan Spenner. I’m just guessing.
Worst interviewers ever
