This song is sung in a Visayan (or locally referred to as Bisaya) dialect, which has a lot of percussive characteristics - even more than Tagalog. Always love your insights! Don't worry about the way you say the words, you actually did a great job and we appreciate the effort!
I love this softer side of Mori’s voice. We all know she can belt out those high notes but I personally love this side of her. Just so beautiful! Again I love your reaction Erika! 👍❤️
Really like hearing you singing tagalog songs girl. It's so very inspirational for a foreigner singing a local dialect like tagalog. Keep it up for us fans of yours ✌️😁👍
Atik Ra means just a joke… it’s not Tagalog but Cebuano-Bisaya as she’s from Cebu which is in the Visayas (Bisaya). The Philippines is composed of 3 big groups of Islands-Luzon (North), Visayas(middle group), & Mindanao (Southern group). Actually, majority/more Filipinos use Bisaya than Tagalog as people from Visayas & Mindanao use Cebuano-Bisaya as our main language/dialect. Morissette has a Korean song cover also-Resignation. Check that out. Your Bisaya is actually close to how Pinoys do it. Bravo!
Philippines has multiple dialects, shes singing cebuano-visayan song; Btw, morissette is multilingual. She can speak tagalog, english and bisaya (dialect)
Oooh! Leaving a comment before I watch this. I’m so curious if/how you’ll appreciate all the nuances in one of my personal favorite (and totally underrated) performances. 😊
I actually listened to this song earlier today for the 45th time probably. I'm glad you got around to this one yungin! You'll never run out of GREATS by Mori. Keep up the awesome analyses, loving it!
Erika -- (Sorry for being didactic.) Tagalog and Visayan are two of the most widely spoken languages in the PH, and they belong to different language families. Tagalog and Cebuano (a type of Visayan) are not mutually intelligible. They have distinct vocabularies, grammar, and pronunciation. People who speak one language might have difficulty understanding the other. Similar to French speakers may not readily understand Spanish, even though they are both romantic languages, not a dialect of each other.
I've watched a couple of reactions to this song and am surprised that neither of you mentioned the little low note follow-ons to phrases, such as at 21:29, which are extremely brief but add a very interesting effect which I haven't heard before. I also listened to the original Jacky Chan Wishbus version, and they were there, but much more crudely done.
This song is in "Cebuano", one of the Visayan languages spoken in the central and southern Philippines. Mori's a native Cebuano speaker. Another very talented vocalist, KZ Tandingan is also a Cebuano native speaker.🤘
Great breakdown Coach! Plus your Tagalog pronunciation has improved! Just roll them R’s, learn the vowel sounds, pronounce the H and say every syllable and you’re on your way. Love your Tagalog covers! Now how about covering Mori’s native dialect, Bisaya? Pls cover her Undangon Tani (see her mv with the black outfits and hats). Salamat po!
Cebuano dialect is her first native tongue before tagalog. Its very different to tagalog the way you speak it. Its more like what you said, is more on "staccato " and has fast pacing in delivering the sentence the way the native cebuano like us speaks. Some people or foreigners heard it sounds like italian nuances.

If you plan to sing a tagalog song, make sure to study the "ng"s of the words. Like the word "Pangarap", it should be read like Pa - nga - rap and not Pan - ga - rap. Just think of the sound of "ng" in the word "song", say it a couple times and try to say it without the "so-". Now add vowels to that sound and there you go! I hope you enjoy singing a tagalog song and hope you do some other ones too cause i've heard you copy how to say tagalog through singing and it's good.
I'm from Manila and here in Manila our dialect is Tagalog and I don't understand the dialect of Visayas 😅, Tagalog is the national language in the Philippines and the Visayas language is a dialect in some parts of the Visayas and Mindanao regions

Plz react to Gabriel Henrique singing And I Telling You
No, its not tagalog, its a cebuano- visayan song
that is not tagalog its bisaya a language used in the southern part of the Phillippines.
We need SoHyang
So who you need?
hi Erika....thats visayan not tagalog
You are actually pronouncing the words right when you do the percussive sound. Bisaya is more percussive than Tagalog.
I'm from Manila and here in Manila our dialect is Tagalog and I don't understand the dialect of Visayas 😅, Tagalog is the national language in the Philippines and the Visayas language is a dialect in some parts of the Visayas and Mindanao regions
Your so good to sing tagalog💕
that's not Tagalog though😆
