This is by far the best lesson I've seen, it is the core movement of the golf swing to ensure you come from the inside, keep your back to the target and throw the club from the top, great work Danny !!

I don’t think I’ve ever commented on RUclips before but I had to for this video. Nothing has improved my game more than this lesson! It’s the first time the dynamics of the golf swing actually made sense to me. Every time I step up to the golf ball I imagine throwing the club backwards. This was a real game changer for me. Thank you, Danny!!

Danny I love you! My last round after losing my swing (again) and hitting slice after slice on the tee I decided to try this drill on the next tee box. Mind you I did this for 10 seconds before my preshot routine without ever having tried it. I proceeded to crush my drive 30 yds past my playing partners. I've been playing golf for YEARS and this was the first time that I felt like I could really go after the ball and actually transfer all the energy from my swing into the ball. It's such an amazing feeling!!! I've spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars on lessons and watched countless videos on RUclips. But you're the FIRST instructor I've watched that has been able to give consistent meaningful instructions that actually translate to fundamental change. Thank you for not holding back and sharing your wealth of knowledge. I just opened a craft beer bar here in NYC so if you're ever on this side of the pond, all the beers you want are on me!!!

I really need to say thank you! My game left me when I got cancer 11 years ago. I didn't feel well, my Flexibility and balance became bad , plus I have three kids (not a bad thing). Two years ago I had surgery for my torn rotatory and laburnum so I have probably played once or twice in the last 3 years. I went to the range 2 weeks ago and maybe had 5 descent shots. I was thinking about going to a pro but I decided to look on RUclips last week and have seen 4 of you videos. They have changed me so quickly! My power is back in my drive, my chipping is back to where it was (probably better), and my irons have been great and fly straight (I do not miss my slicing). All of this is because of you! You make things simple and have great ways to demonstrate. Thanks you so much Sir!

@@DanielMaude Hi Danny, tried it on the Range yesterday and without question a game changer, will take some work (and trust) but when it happened the swing felt bigger, definately produced more power and the action forced me to turn more (which I have been struggling with) Bottled out on the course for obvious reasons, but it will be getting another work out today! Many thanks!

I started learning golf primarily by myself watching RUclips and going to my coach occasionally (whenever I feel I hit a plateau). So far I’ve had significant improvement but the shallowing movement always bothered me. I instinctively knew the shallowing movement is - like many things with tour pros - a natural outcome from the correct force and timing of force applied, therefore should feel natural rather than awkward, but I just couldn’t comprehend how the shallowing movement should feel like DURING A FULL SWING. This video had explained it all, and more. Trust me, I’ve gone through many shallowing videos, but this is the ESSENTIAL one. If one could watch this first when learning how to shallow the club, this person may save years of time and effort, for real.
Thanks Danny, I now really just go through your video one by one, after so many golf channels on RUclips. I know what’s really good coach is like now.

Seriously, I have seen this drill for years, but I finally got it. Thank you, this will change my golf to be real fun and prevent a lot of my back pain. I have struggled to create power and accuracy. been very static and in all kinds of positions. I have felt this feeling before, but never understood what I did that day when everything was easy. Finally, you made me understand it. Seen 20 videos now and you have made me think of golf in a totally different way and the feeling I get only by standing outside the house here practicing without a ball I have never experienced before knowing why :-) Keep up the awesome work. Look forward to learning even more from you. AGAIN THX :-)

Danny Maude, this is the most brilliant lesson I have ever encountered. The concept of Casting never made more sense to me. We cast naturally when our right shoulder moves before our arms, like I understand you are saying Danny. When we move our arms like you teach, with the right shoulder back, there is no way one can cast even if he, she, wanted to because the elbows are on a down move at the same time allowing the 90° in your left arm and shaft to continue.
I gave the exercise a try and I wanted to cast in purpose but the harder I tried the more centrifugal force was obtained since the elbows were on a free fall as well; then, the right shoulder would follow through the swing squaring up the club’s face with the ball.
I have been studying the golf swing for quite a few years already and I believe this is the piece of the puzzle I have been meaning to decipher; what a fantastic job you did here Danny Maude, I applaud you loudly for that! Thank you sir, I will always give you credit for this, attentively, your amigo Jesus Alvarez.

I subscribed to your channel a few months ago and have watched dozens of your videos but I hadn't watched this one until yesterday. For me, it's probably the most important golf video I've ever watched. I had never before seen or heard the concept you describe anywhere else. The (initially) totally counter-intuitive idea of throwing the club backwards behind you and feeling the centrifugal force was one that had never occurred to me before, and I've tried so many things. It's no exaggeration to say it was a huge 'Eureka!' moment for me. I rushed to pick up a club to try it out - it was immediately obvious there was SO much more speed there - it felt a little 'out of control' but amazing to feel the pull of the club and a sensation of speed I had never before achieved. I took it outdoors today with a 56 degree wedge and was very quickly slinging shots high in the air, landing them so much further than ever before (80-90 yards instead of 60-70) while still feeling I was swinging smoothly. I can't wait to try this with some longer clubs to see the difference. It's going to take a while to fully master the extra speed and force involved but the results from just one hour's work are truly a 'quantum leap' for me. Thank you so much Danny - there are a number of good golf teachers here on RUclips but you are the one I come back to time and time again because you communicate better than anyone else how the swing should feel.

Amazing how some of your videos that pop up in my feed from 3 years ago are relevant to what I am working on at this very moment. I have very good hand eye, and usually pretty consistent. But I have a hard time hanging on to the lag, or the feeling of holding off. I tend to start the rotation with the arms, and then fire the body. I have been working on firing the body rotation first now, and seeing good results. Your other live lesson where you were instructed to "spin it down" was also helpful. Thanks for everything Danny! Hope to meet you out on the course someday!

I went out to my outside net and with only a few split grip moves I immediately started swinging my driver with this drill in mind and I ripped it every time ! Thank you ! If you could I would like your email address , ok ? John ( addendum ) found Jack’s tip : he said “ you can’t release too early providing you don’t cast and if you get to your left side first “ . Also , you’re too young to remember Jimmy Ballard , he called it springing the shaft going forward !

This is literally my only swing thought- crucial to avoiding an over the top swing. Why do so few instructors teach this - why has it always been about holding the angles and firing hips with the belief that the arms will come down naturally (don’t recall there being a muscle connecting my hips to my arms!).
    such
That motion has other benefits as it helps create width (free speed) and helps to shallow out the swing. It also helps to square the golf club as you are releasing the angles (with a driver this is essential as you will run out of time).

I agree that this move helps to release through impact. But if you start your downswing with your left hip, your arms WILL HAVE TO FOLLOW, because you're coiled up. Your body can't stretch, it's not elastic, so when starting the downswing with your left side your right side literally can't stay behind.

Nick Brazier I used to slice A LOT with driver. What helped me was really focusing on “hitting up” at the all with driver. Rather than feeling like I was hitting down. It’s almost impossible to come outside in while swinging up at the same time. And get the club face square and your good. You will begin to feel the inside swing when swinging up.

Hi Danny, Happy New Year to you. Have not played much golf until I retired over 15 years ago. I have struggled many years to not slice or push my driver, hooking my irons and hybrids, inconsistent chip shots, moving my front foot resulting from playing too much softball, and over rotating my hips and not transferring my weight by not leading with the lower body. Now in my early 70s, I play several times a week and your Tips this past year have helped me in all these areas to lower my handicap to slightly below bogie golf. Love your instructions, especially the best rotation drill, and your summarizing the keys points at the end of the instructions. Always look forward to your tips. Stay safe and healthy.

I had been struggling the last few rounds with short shots, and a slice that showed up in the last week or so. I couldn't figure out where these originated. I have a tendency to start hitting my irons fat and my woods with a fade (sometimes a powerfade :) ) when my game heads south, but couldn't begin to understand why. He showed me videos after the lesson of my new swing and it virtually the same as you're doing, for some reason the right shoulder stayed back and I hit the ball a lot better and didn't even think about rotation, it just happened naturally
