    Have y’all ever thought about talking in schools? I feel like y’all could actually get through to some kids because of how real and non patronizing you are. I mean of course you’d have to censor some things but I feel like a lot of people have this very narrow image of what ‘prison drug addicts’ look like and don’t realize it can happen to anyone and that you can really truly turn your life around. Y’all are great and strong and so compassionate. What you are doing is so important 👏🏽❤️

    • @rachelmazza4079
      @rachelmazza4079 5 лет назад +15

      @B B Right? Same experience here. It's all just 'drugs are bad don't do them' but they never really explain why and better yet show the consequences of drug use. Instead of 'don't do it' they should educate on 'here's what happens if you use drugs' High School kids especially are definitely intelligent enough to be exposed to a frank and honest conversation about using and life altering consequences that can happen, like in Jessica's videos.

      I agree kids need to here the raw truth. I gave a talk to a group of teenagers about being a teen mum and it was great they all had so many questions and I feel like hearing it from someone other than a parent or teacher was good for them.

    Reece is a natural. He probably doesn’t even realize how inspiring he is. He speaks about this stuff with the perfect balance of realism and authenticity, without sounding preachy, that would make for great public speaking. Jess too! You guys should speak in schools and rehab facilities. Tell the people what’s up but from some real homies, not mom & dad types that are just talking down. 🖤💪🏼

    I love when you two do videos together. You two really play well off each other. I can so relate to the "feeling better than until you aren't any longer". I always thought I was better than the next addict because I had a college degree, a great good paying job, my child, a nice place to live, and I wasn't like those other addicts until I just wasn't. I lost almost anything. I lost my great job and the respect I had in my field, my home, and my child. The only thing I didn't lost was my license in my field and I couldn't be more grateful for that because it allowed me to build my life again from the ground up. I went to living in a beautiful home to living in a "program" that was housed in a wet shelter being sexually harrassed by staff trying to hand on tight to the few days clean I had. I lost my brother while I was living in that shelter and it rocked my world and I haven't used since. Today I have my career back, my child and a now almost 2 yr old who has never experianced his Mom high, a beautiful home and most of all respect for myself. I am 4 months shy of 8 years clean. If you're struggling but you are breathing today you still have the oppurtunity to get clean, and recovery can be so beautiful and so worth every obstacle you have to get through. If you need help ask someone, it will be the best thing you could do for yourself.

It was very expensive, but I didn’t even care about that! It was our story and I wouldn’t of cared if it was plastic, it meant the world to me!!!! I remember taking it off before bed, putting it in a pocket of my tote bag we had all stayed the night together, a couples night kinda thing.... and I KNOW she saw me put it up.... next morning Igo to look for it and it’s GONE -- she helped me look for it for days! Fast forward to when her and her man got an apartment-- they left me there one day bc I didn’t want to ride to town with them to grocery shop... I went the bathroom to take a shower - found the pawn ticket from a month prior-- she got $200 out of a $1,000 bracelet 😭
      Like I said I do not care about money, that was the most expensive piece of jewelry I had ever received and it was so special bc of the details..... I cried for weeks.
      Ps- I asked he abit the pawn ticket it was hers she had from graduation from her grandma-- wtf!?!?!?!? I graduated with her hung out with her every day all day never once saw a charm bracelet 🤦‍♀️

    This is 1000% accurate! The differences between meth culture and heroin culture is like comparing apples to a refrigerator. It's soooooo different! Comparing my old "meth friends" and my old "heroin friends" is like comparing night and day. I was addicted to H for 10 years on and off and meth for about 8 months and those 8 months on meth were very eye opening. I don't even know how to describe that time other than it just really messed me up mentally, more so than those 10 years on H did. I've seen a girl I thought was my friend strip off her clothes and run around the outside of her house because she thought there were undos outside and then she searched my car and her house...I've slept with a crow bar before...just insane stuff. I would love to see a comparison of the two from you guys!

    • @sarahlynn4721
      @sarahlynn4721 5 лет назад +4

      @B B I remember one of the girls I was hanging out with saying something about how heroin addicts were junkies and dirty and it was the heroin addicts that would snitch if they got busted, or something like that, but I found it to be the exact opposite. That entire group of people would just constantly snitch on each other to try and get themselves out of trouble. They would steal something from you one day and try to sell it back to you the next. Don't get me wrong, when my bf and I were deep in active addiction we did some pretty shady things to get H, but it was child's play compared to some of the things I've seen people do on meth, myself included. H slows you down and you just want to sit back and chill while you nod off. Meth makes you crazy.

    Thanks so much. I love you guys. I watch every single video.
    I used to pick up my friend sometimes just so he could have some quality sleep because he slept on someone’s couch for about two years. I’d cook him a good meal. We’d talk... never judged him. I was always afraid it was going to be the last time I was going to see him alive. It’s very sad. He is still struggling but in recovery. He wanted to. My other friend though did not make it and passed away. I personally don’t have a history of addiction. A lot of people don’t understand and judge. I think me being so empathetic really helps to understand and not judge people. No matter who they are.
    You two are beautiful people. Good job you guys. Much love

      Diane B Just loving an addict is so powerful!! I don't mean enabling but just them (knowing) in their heart that they have a reason to try and someone cares is always powerful, even though we have to do it for ourselves.

      @dianeb2349 5 лет назад +3

      Spotted Elephant that’s totally true. And I know they both really appreciated it. They did. I got a lot of love from both of them and that was not the reason I did these things for them. I was careful too. Always hiding anything valuable in my house etc. But they never did me any harm. I wanted to support them. Have them talk to me whenever they needed someone that would listen or take care of them. They both lost many people because of addiction. Barely anyone wanted to put up with their crap anymore. And that is understandable too. But I couldn’t just leave them just out of love and compassion. I always hoped they would recover one day and just want to change things around. One of them is doing well and the other one did not make it. It’s just worth trying to support someone in some sort of way. It can really help.

    Thank you guys for yet another amazing video. I love when Reece is on the channel Jes. Thank you Reece for coming on and talking about this. Y’all are both such amazing humans, and I’m so happy you guys have each other. My rock bottom was also when I was ashamed of who I’d become sitting in cook county jail arrested for a class x felony and going before the judge and seeing my dad sitting in the way back crying. That was it for me. Got sober a month later. Love you guys!!! 💜💙🖤

    I just wanted to say I’ve had a relatively sheltered life (compared to you and a lot of people!) and I’ve always had a fairly dismissive and cold attitude towards addiction- you have completely changed how I view this now, you’ve educated me and shown me there are real people behind the “addict”, I’ve started to view the problem in an entirely different way so thank you for opening my eyes to that. Your videos are incredible and I’ve started following and watching and learning from all the people you shout out. Thank you 🙏

      ThePiratecookieslove l same! I always thought addiction was solely a choice but it’s not and medical research proves it. The initial use is a choice, the subsequent uses are a mental illness, and then not getting help is a choice. It’s not one or the other or black and white. There’s more to it.

    I found this channel approximately 4 days ago. Jess, you are so blessed, and I know you realize this 💕 I'm glad I found this on RUclips. My daughters father is incarcerated for being caught stealing to being a part of a drug ring selling prescription pills w fake prescriptions. His drug of choice was meth. Sadly for him and our daughter, I don't know when he will be home and I pray he stays clean. For the sake of my 6 year old. She's traumatized. I will never understood why he gave up our family to do meth. He is upstate and sounds good but I don't trust him when he is free. He's stolen from myself and all our daughters bank acct savings.

    Thank you for this video!
    My son is off meth, but he is prone to relapse. As a mom, it is pure hell. He’s a completely different person on drugs. He is a raging monster that steals from me and damages my property and calls me horrible names. In the last 2 years, I’ve been confronted with situations I wasn’t equipped to deal with. Psychosis, jail, hospitals, rage, theft, fired from jobs. I completely lost it a few times, but I never kicked him out.
    I am in Texas. His father lives in Fort Smith! Meth is a huge issue in Texas. I live in fear that my son will be sucked in again. I helped him get a car so he could rebuild his life. It was a huge mistake because it lead him right back to the dope game. I took the car away! I pray he stays off meth. Through it all, I love him.
    Sending love 💕 to both of you!

      tcshy1903 being a heroin addict for countless years myself.. just know that it’s so much better to just DO for him, rather than GIVE to him. Anything given to an addict is going to be used to our benefit. But you can’t use love & emotional support to get high. Tell him no & let him continue to find his own ways. Trust me there’s ALWAYS something we end up doing that we say wow I can’t believe I’ve gone this low. Ultimately getting clean has to be his idea.. one day he will hopefully have his day of no longer telling himself “tomorrow will be different” & it’ll instead be “today will be different”... on that day he’s gonna need you. You need to be there. Don’t drive yourself crazy before that day comes 💜 there’s hope for everyone, hang in there

    Aww I absolutely love you two together!! And the advice you both gave at the end is amazing! Me being an addict myself the thing that helped me the most was having the tough love and support of my mom..and definitely do NOT give your loved one any money no matter how good their story is, because us addicts can come up with some good believable stories...and everyone's rock bottom is different I just wish I could have gotten my fiance/kids father to realize that getting and staying sober was possible but unfortunately he passed away due to an overdose....and sometimes I feel guilty that I made it and he didnt and that I'm getting to live this amazing life with our children and he is here to witness them growing up becoming these amazing people....I love you jes!! -Ashley 😘😘

    Okay this video is the most incredible video I’ve ever seen. Personally this one really hit home. At the end when you guys were giving advice to people with loved ones on meth made me cry, and Jessica got teary eyed I noticed. I recently struggled with my dad, who is on meth. I gave him all of my money. I thought at the time it was so he could pay the bills and get the electricity/gas/water turned back on at our house. He put my mom, who’s sick, my two younger brothers, who are still in school. and me in a tough spot. I was 20 years old trying to take care of all of these people. But I couldn’t understand why or how dad could keep throwing his life away and hurt all of us. It is still really hard for me to accept. I can’t talk to my dad about this stuff because he’s not ready. But hearing someone from former users you guys really taught me we did help. I see my future dad in you guys, hopefully he can become sober. Thank you guys so so much

    I see so many people every day that made ONE bad decision ONE time and they end up in this horrible dark place and think that that's how their lives have to be. Addiction is really one call away when you think about it. It definitely DOES NOT discriminate. The amazing, great news is, neither does God. He's always one call away, too. In Jesus' name I lift up all struggling with addiction and all those around them, Lord. He makes everything new and restores everything as if no time has been lost. You are both absolutely amazing, authentic, loving people and I'm so happy that you found each other and are now "using your powers for good." Keep up the great work and may God bless and keep you all always. In Jesus' name, AMEN!

    I’m doing a unconventional way of helping addicts. I use my spirit box that connects one on one with love one that pass so they can hear their voice again and/or receive messages and conversations that trigger a awakening in them. Once ppl realize that death really is a myth it changes people to the core. It’s one thing to believe and it’s another to have a life change experience and knowing. They walk away in tears and in unbelief and come back in treatment and clean. I know of 7 people that I helped connect to spirit that have 6 mo or more clean. For me that’s 6 lives that has a chance for a wonderful successful life.
