I’m a long time Eagles fan and in my opinion.
The Defense, the special teams(bad punt) and the fumble where all contributors to the loss. It was a great game otherwise. I don’t believe the referees had anything to do with it, the Eagles should of never been in that situation at the end of the game to begin with. Congratulations to the Kansas City particularly Andy Reid!

Let me put in my two cents as a Chiefs fan. One thing that went under the radar about this game was that the Eagles actually played too well for their own good earlier in the playoffs. You smoked the Giants and the 49ers so badly in the first half of those games all you needed to do in the second half was find your way back to the field out of the locker room. You didn't have to play a second half in those games and neither team punched you in the mouth at anytime in those games. The Chiefs on the other hand had to play all four quarters of each of their other playoff games with their quarterback on one leg for all but one of those quarters. Plus they were without most of their wide receivers in the 2nd half of the Bengals game, had to overcome an inexplicable unforced Mahomes fumble while driving in the 2nd half of that game, and had to overcome giving up two big kickoff returns in the second half of the Jaguar game. They got punched in the mouth a lot so they weren't phased when the Eagles punched them in the mouth in the first half. You can't simulate getting punched in the mouth by your opponent in practice(particularly if your coach is not having you in pads during your practice, hint hint). You can only learn how to respond to being punched in the mouth in the playoffs by actually getting punched in the mouth in the playoffs. In the second half the Chiefs looked like a team that had been punched in the mouth before and the Eagles looked like a team that hadn't.

I Subscribed to your Podcast and will follow you guys next year. I'm also a big Fantasy Football player and I'm in a Dynasty league that has both Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts as keepers so I will follow your takes on the Eagles. Philly Fans, you have nothing to hang your head about. The Eagles played a great game. 2 team play a game, One has to win and One has to lose. The Eagles are no pushover and they played their ass off. The one part of the game that I haven't heard anyone talk about is how the O-Line got those pushes for 1st down on those 4th and 1 plays. The Chiefs should use that and should train our O-Line on how to get low and push like that. I admit, I wanted the Chiefs to do the Ring-Around-The-Roses play and combine it with The Philly Special for a TD. That would have been classic. But Hey, Let's get together next year for Round 2. You guys are Rocky and The Chiefs are Apollo Creed.

Strength of schedule has to be some of the issue, If one team plays 8 playoff teams on their schedule, They are iron sharpened by iron, If the other team gets a lead on inferior teams and play with a lead most of their games....their skill set is never tested , The crazy balance is.....playing better opponents, means you run the risk of having a less wins in your season, its a crazy balance, but the experience of playing better teams on your schedule has to be a problem that rears its ugly head later. like in the superbowl.

The Chiefs played the tougher schedule. 8 playoff teams on the Chiefs schedule to start the year last year. The other team played Daniel Jones three times. Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, Josh Johnson. Their toughest challenges were Trevor Lawrence and Aaron Rodgers all year. Cmon that’s not going to cut it. I couldn’t watch anything after the game because I felt very frustrated. Having watched the Eagles as a fan since 1968 I have seen the ups and downs of our team. I wrote a comment in weak 5 and said that this defense was vulnerable to an offense that plays 1980’s style of SF 49ers Bill Walsh and Joe Montana offense. Short passes into soft zone coverage mixed with runs to keep defense guessing. Someone commented that “opponents would need to be good enough to do that against the Eagles and they aren’t good enough “. Andy Reid was a 3rd generation coach of that system. He was smarter than our coaches in this game. I’m not a “hater” as some people label criticism of Gannon, I do think that his coaching decisions were a big part of our defeat. We were out coached and outplayed. As I get older, I’m thankful for the 17 team for giving us our first championship and I do want to thank this year’s team for all of their effort and intensity. If Mr. Roseman can pull off an off season anywhere close to this one, maybe we will have another opportunity. I’m trying to get out of my negativity. Our coaches need to learn that you need to have multiple strategies available when something isn’t working. We were out coached more than we were out played.

I have mad respect for the Eagles. They were the best team in the NFC and a great team overall. The Chiefs made the adjustments in the second half and Patrick Mahomes was a super hero again. As a Chiefs fan we went 50 years between our first Superbowl win and the second. We did not win a playoff game at Arrowhead until I believe 2016. When Patrick Mahomes became our starting quarterback things changed dramatically. He is arguably one of the best quarterbacks of all time! We have won 2 Superbowls with him. But again, the Chiefs had to experience many losing years to get here.

KC fans will crow about this, but I have to say, all these great quarterbacks play in the easiest league in the history of the NFL. What most disappoints me is I thought the Eagles had found a cheat code and brought great defense back. But once again, it has been proven that defense does not matter in this league. Seth will complain about defense in this game, but it's a useless complaint. There is no such thing as defense anymore. This includes the Niners and Cowboys and any other team that likes to pretend that having a top ranked defense will win you anything. There is no way a one legged quarterback would have had a chance in the 80s and 90s. But since the league has legislated defense out, a one legged quarterback and coach calling a bunch of gadget plays can win a title. The offense already has the advantage because it knows the plays and where everyone is going, yet they have changed rules to give them even more of an advantage. To be honest, I have not been watching the NFL like I used to for this reason. I felt the same even when the Eagles won in 2018. Almost every superbowl looks like a Madden football game on playstation. It's completely and utterly boring. Maybe the Eagles will get back, maybe they won't. Who cares? The game stinks anymore.
