To me, the main issue, and my reason for admiring you, is that climbing it in this very classic style just takes a very long time! You have to carry a _lot_ more gear, water and food and still have the stamina to keep going for days instead of hours. When I climbed the route with a friend in 1981, we just ran up in 6:15, which at that time was supposedly the second fastest ascent, about 45 min behind the record. The key difference was of course that we carried almost nothing, just a very basic rack and a small backpack for our sneakers so we could walk back down to the valley. We passed a party just like yours in this very spot, they had slept on the big ledge and had just done a pitch while we had climbed 18. (They almost certainly didn't start as early as we did though!)
Thanks for your comment. 6:15 is amazing. I can only dream of being that fast on this wall. Ultimately, climbing these big walls is about the feeling of tackling such iconic granite monoliths. I'll climb them any style I can.
@@cragsocks1726Two days after Half Dome we hiked a bit further into the valley and climbed Quarter Domes, a route I remember as even more fun with lots of layback and crack climbing.
Only if ur a weenie....I'm a union electrician and constantly on a 6ft ladder...the only difference is I dont wear a tie off like this weenie right here...if I fall I'm hitting the floor! I guess I'm just built different....#rarebreed
Oh and I forgot to say sometimes (sssshhhh don't tell OSHA) I don't have both hands on my ladder! I KNOW! I should be in a circus with stunts like that.

this is an awesome video man! crazy how much fixed mank was left on these pitches.
Thanks for the video. Did you record the Chimney Pitch?
Unfortunately, we did that pitch in the dark, so no video.
I’ve done some basic climbing in the past and just climbed the cables of half dome on the easy side. This is next level aid climbing or not.
That was cool
Мне даже смотреть это страшно, аж ладошки потеют.
Great job! I love your content. Don't listen to the assholes below that have no clue wtf they are talking about.
Fookin scary

Where's the climbing part? U basically have a ladder....boring!
This is weak! U couldn't free solo it like Alex did?????? Pfffffftttt....my grandmother could do it using what u guys used.
Climbing with etriers isn't climbing. It's using a ladder.
The title includes "Aid Climbing"
@@madchemist01 thanks Beavis.
