I used the ZV1 as a webcam for a long time. I just used the micro USB connection on the side to plug it into the wall and it worked fine. What is the benefit of this over connecting it that way? I want to make sure I'm not missing something.
Wait…..Travis in the building🔥🔥🔥. To be honest there is probably no extra benefit over the other. Just more of an example of another way to use it. I can say that if you use the zv1 in the field with a tripod you can easily use a portable charger to power it. Man thank you for stopping by #legend

with the dummy battery you don't degrade the life of your battery
Just found out that [ruclips.net/video/_HtmdZfHJBk/видео.html] feeding power via the USB port, with a battery will 'extend' the life of the battery, but will, generally not last longer than 3hrs. Thus for LONG use, the dummy is the way to go.

That dummy adapter usually comes with a plug so you can plug it in the wall. But I didn't think about straight charging from my dongle to external battery..Thanks! I just got the Sony ZV1 I -- I don't even get 45 min on my battery and I travel

Do you have any suggestion on which brand I can buy the batteries? Since I'm in Brazil most amazon products doesn't ship to my country so I'm kinda limited to Aliexpress, also because Sony doesn't sell products directly in Brazil since 2020, but Im not safe about which one to get from aliexpress.
Honestly I would hate tell you how to spend your money for something to possibly not work. What I will say is that NP-BX1 batteries work. If you can find those you can try them but I cant recommend a brand. 🙌🏾💯

I’m about to buy my first mirrorless camera for my golf channel and I’ve been pointed to either the Sony ZVE10 or the ZV1. The battery life criticism is what has me wary about the ZV1. If I need my camera for 2-2.5 hours on course for recording, can I simply switch out Sony batteries as they die, or are there overheating concerns in doing that? Curious how you’d go about it. Thanks!
You could switch out the batteries on the zv1 but be aware they only last about a good 30-40 mins, and as the battery gets old it will go down to about 25-30 mins. As long as the overheating setting is on you should be good. In my opinion!

Where you recording this video on the zv1 or zv1f? If so, were you able to record in 2k or 4k?
It would have had to be the Zv1 or my iphone, because I do not own a Zv1f. Both the iphone and the zv1 do 4k.
What tripod do you use? I can't mount my Sony ZV-1 on my tripod with the dummy battery plugged in because the open battery door is in the way of the tripod plate.

Hey man, dope review. Do you find using this strategy reduce the camera from overheating ? or is overheating still an issue, just wondering because I noticed with the stock battery, camera heats up after running for 10+ mins so just wondering if this prevents that possibly.
I have not experienced any overheating. I also have set my camera to auto temp High. Its been that way since I set it up and have never had it over heat.

Does it still overheat after 30 minutes, or does the dummy battery end that problem? Can you then record continuously till your card is full?
No it shouldn’t as long as you have your settings correct.
I hate the battery on mine as well. Bought the same 3 pack you have too and those are getting picky. Went from full charge to fully drained in 30 minutes before. How’s this setup holding up so far?
It works really well. I use a power bank and sometimes I just plug it in the usb on my mac mini and boom no more battery issues either way. I also found with the cage I can still close the door a little bit. 🙌🏾💯

To be honest. I leave all the batteries on the charger weeks at a time. I have not experienced any over heating from the batteries or the dummy battery. I have my ZV1 set to ignore overheating and no issues to date.

Not sure. I have been using it no stop since I have had it.
I use the usb power cable that plugs into the side of the ZV-1. It requires me to have the battery in it. What's the benefit of using a dummy battery over that option?
Just incase you need to be portable you can use a power bank and such for all day battery. Basically just opens up more use cases for longer batter life.

Yo, what do you do to turn it on automatically when the dummy battery is ON ?
Mine always turns on when I open the screen. So when its plugged in or have power going to the dummy battery the screen turns it on for me.
how long can you record like 1080p video with this adapter connected to a i.e 20.000 mah powerbank?
A few hrs I would think.
Yep. I use the dummy battery BUT i get an external disk mount and put a power bank in there and it runs for hours and hours and hours lol

Am terrible with remembering things I have done on my camera,I keep messing up on my record settings it won't let me record, what can I do
Factory reset it to start from scratch. Then adjust everything again. That way you learn the ends and outs quickly.
I bought the dummy battery and portable charger. The camera still shuts off due to overheating around 45 minutes into recording in 4K. I have no clue what to do at this point.
Make sure you go in the camera settings and turn off the over heat warning
@@JGibbs Do you mean the setting where you change it from normal to high? I tried that first before I bought the dummy battery and charger. That setting is set to high. It still overheats somehow.

You can use a power bank. So take for example the dummy battery you can plug it into a power and boom.
